Ardie S. "I am a total Flower Child. No, wait. Let me try that again. I am a total fan of Flower Child. There. That's better. So until last week I didn't know this location existed. I was looking for a place to have lunch with a friend and I thought they'd be coming from their house in Central Austin. Instead they were coming from their place of business in West Austin. I was looking for a new places to try that were reasonably priced. I did not know this location existed because I've only gone to their Domain location previously. This is a much more open and airy location than the Domain. There is inside and patio seating available on the deck. It can be quite pleasant when the weather cooperates. The day I went it was a bit chilly so inside would have been a better choice temperature wise (and for another reason I'm about to explain). It's best to arrive early for lunch. When I first arrived about 12:30, there were still inside tables available but 10 minutes later the place was packed with a second wave of lunchers.I usually have the Ginger Miso Crunch salad but I decided to explore today and went with the Mushroom Bolognese. As usual Flower Child never disappoints. Topped with almond ricotta, the combination of squash zoodles and marinara was quite filling and delicious all at the same time. (Okay to be quite honest I would have liked a little more generous portion, but this was enough for lunch)That having been said, I take one quibble and it's a situational one with the outside seating. Even in early January, the bees are active. I almost made the mistake of swatting at one myself, mistaking it for a housefly that have been on the table a bit earlier. Unfortunately my co-diner made that actual mistake and got stung. This happened despite moving the cute bud vase of wildflowers to the opposite end of the table. Of course you can't cover all perils in an outdoor environment. It would be nice if the bud vases were filled with something less attractive to honey bees, because getting stung is a real bummer to an otherwise fun lunch. I ran in and got some ice in it to go container and luckily my friend didn't experience a reaction. That quibble aside, this is the place to go for lunch in the Walsh Tarleton and Bee Cave Road area. For the best experience, arrive early, and dine indoors.Highly recommended."

Jordyn M. "Came in just for desert (I have ordered food to go and it was very good) Ordered the mango sticky rice and the fried banana and ice cream. The mango sticky rice wasn't bad but I believe we were hoping to have more mango flavor in the rice and not just topped with mango. The fried bananas could use a knife and also just lack a bit of flavor. My personal favorite variation of this comes from shockingly P.F. Chang's and they add some vanilla and caramel drizzle on top and I think I was hoping for a little bit more from both dishes. The service was prompt and even in our short visit our waters were refilled multiple times and staff and attentive.I still highly recommended for dinner."

Lowell O. "One of the owners waited on us. Really sweet gal. Very friendly. They have an eclectic menu from tacos to barbecue. We love regional and international cuisine so were delighted to see Korean Kimchi Steak tacos and Jamaican Jerk Chicken tacos! We ordered one plate of each (two tacos per plate). They were tastey and filling and reasonably priced. They were both very tamed down for local pallettes, however. The are three indicators that these would be spicy: 1) tacos are usually either spicy or are served with salsa to spice them up, 2) kimchee is a very spicy dish, 3) authentic jerk chicken is a very spicy dish. However, the Scoville rating in these would be as low as the pimiento you might find in an olive. I mean... they were flavorful... they just weren't spicy at all. Add that's perfectly fine. But offering some Gochujang, or Jamaican jerk sauce or even Sriracha on the side would have certainly elevated these for us. There a couch and love seat in the corner under some nice art work that adds to the ambiance. The music they played was very enjoyable. The salad bar was a tiki theme. It has a fun vibe. My only complaint... and I don't know what they can do about this... is the parking lot. It's awkwardly shaped. You can't back into a space, and you have to back out at a sharp angle. There are no safety bumpers to keep you from dropping off the parking lot onto the sidewalk (a several inch drop), and it's a small lot with only a few spaces. Parking aside, I'm glad these guys are here. I like them and I will visit them again."

They have a large parking lot so parking won't be an issue. It's a casual restaurant with a lot of booths. Service was friendly. I went with the stuffed crab which comes with your choice of two sides. I chose corn on the cob and fries. Our waitress asked which sauce I wanted with my crab and I went with all of the above so she brought me a sweet sauce I didn't like very much and your typical tartar sauce. Crab is one of my favorite types of seafood and the stuffed crab didn't disappoint. You get three of these bad boys. Served in a hard shell and an edible crust, scoop out the good stuff. While the fries were good, it was a small portion for fries and the corn on the cob was a small portion as well. Not a generous portion when it comes to the sides. I also got a chicken fried steak sandwich with fries with white gravy to-go. All-in-all, a decent meal where you have a lot to choose from, especially when it comes to seafood."

There is outdoor seating, but I opted for indoors where the lighting is dim and the drinks are flowing. It wasn't very busy, but I think once word gets out, it'll become a reservation-only type of place. I ordered a spicy margarita, and it was fantastic. They know what they're doing in the drink department. Then I got an appetizer and a "soup": the crab and sausage hush puppies and the Texas chili. The Texas chili was not chili; it was definitely more of a stew. It was good, though. The hush puppies were awesome, and judging by other tables, they're a hot ticket item. This place is great for birthdays, anniversaries, or any other occasion! I wish them all the success!"

Solomon W. "When I first saw "The Kosher Store" on Yelp, I swore it was a joke. Upon arrival, I was shocked to see that they actually do have a little cultural pocket for the Kosher folk. The deli menu is no-frills, and the calm blue and white makes it feel like a serene East coast deli... that happens to be blessed by a Rabbi. It is hard to imagine that everything in this corner of a North Austin HEB is "not not kosher."The pricing is a bit steep, but maybe I am safe to assume that much Jewish grub is pricey. Perhaps they are able to pay for the premiums for these offerings that sit in your stomach and are in religious regulations. Specifically, the $11 reuben was a bit off-putting. This is undoubtedly a New York price.I went with a half corned beef. The bread was stale and dry, in that crumbly stage, more or less. The rye flavor was not present. The corned beef was not the hot smoked corned beef that you get in many a NY deli, but rather this cold, deli meat sort of stuff. Yikes. As you can imagine, this was one of my least favorite $7 in Austin. Austin is a sandwich town; you can do better. In trying to sound cool, I will say the "prices are so not kosher, dude." Alas, why am I presenting KS with a 2? Well, at least they make an effort to provide quality grub to those who cannot eat un-Kosher fare."

Yamas Greek Kitchen + Bar

★★★★☆ 3.9 (307)

Courtney B. "I came to this location over the summer with Thing Two and have finally decided to add to the review for my time there. I love coming here as the decor reminds me of my time in Greece. The namesake for this spot "Yamas" means "to our health" in Greek which is said during a toast. But, really it's more than just a toast when this term is used, it's said as a heartfelt blessing that celebrates life and invokes good health.Grilled Salmon with celery root puree and dill sauce Salmon is one of my favorite fishes. The color, oily, juicy texture and strong flavor make to be unique and recognizable. Dill is a perfect match for salmon. Dill complements salmon's flavor and enhances its subtle notes without overpowering it. The feathery leaves of the dill plant add a fresh, herbaceous, lemony flavor that goes well with the rich, oily nature of salmon. The celery root puree on this dish is just a bonus as it can be used for any number of any reasons. However the aromatic celery root pairs beautifully with smoked fish in general. I was most impressed with the flakiness of the fish and the flavor profile. Thing Two was being a pre-teen and wanted to be picky "but she doesn't even know what she wants" - Teddy Swims Because of this, the staff decided to make her something off menu. What was it? Fresh cut steak french fries (different from the Greek fries). The fries were thick, crisp and fresh. Thing Two wasn't impressed with the fries but I take that review with a grain of salt. I also ordered two mixed drinks but was also brought out of a free shot of Ouzo to take with the other customers. Ouzo which is a dry, anise-flavored aperitif is the national drink of Greece. It is made by distilling rectified spirits and flavoring them. Ouzo has a similar taste to other anise liquors, such as pastis, sambuca, mastika, and rakı. The Ouzo was a great way to finish off my meal and to clear my palate. The service and food here is top-notch. My waiter went out of his way to make sure that Thing Two had something that she would like to eat as opposed to being limited to the menu offerings. This establishment has mid-range prices for all items bu t the price tag is worth the quality of food that is presented. #supportlocal"
