Daniel B. "El Burro Pollo gets a solid four stars out of me. This is one of a handful of restaurants at The Collective Food Hall at Coda at Georgia Tech's Technology Square in Midtown. At the time of writing this review, this is the only El Burro Pollo location in Atlanta. This location of El Burro Pollo opened on March 19, 2020, at the same time as The Collective Food Hall at Coda. Yep, just in time for the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm not sure they could've timed it any better.El Burro Pollo originally started as a burrito stand in the parking lot of Pura Vida, the old tapas restaurant in Poncey-Highland that closed on December 31, 2012 after 12 years in business: https://www.yelp.com/biz/pura-vida-atlanta. It was run by the same owner as today, chef Hector Santiago, who has become a celebrity chef in Atlanta.Currently, chef Hector also owns and runs the El Super Pan Latin restaurants and bars located at Ponce City Market and The Battery (two locations). With El Burro Pollo at The Collective, chef Hector and team have only opened businesses inside food courts and mixed-use developments. I've enjoyed the food at both El Super Pan locations. Therefore, it came as no surprise to me when I found the food at El Burro Pollo to be equally as enjoyable. To fans of El Super Pan and chef Hector - before there was El Super Pan, there was El Burro Pollo. In fact, this Yelp listing is the original. If you sort the reviews from oldest to newest, you'll see Yelp OG Stephie Z was the first to review El Burro Pollo on Yelp on August 9, 2010. That's how long this business has been around. The parking lot burrito stand on North Highland 11 years ago is now a fancy food court stall in the slick Coda high-rise building.Parking for El Burro Pollo and other restaurants at The Collective Food Hall at Coda is available on the streets surrounding the building: Spring, 4th, and West Peachtree. In all my visits to Coda so far, I've always been able to easily find parking on 4th St NW. You can pay a variety of ways. I use and recommend the ParkMobile app because you can easily pay using your phone, monitor your parking meter, and add time if needed. The parking zone number is 51548.Parking is enforced Monday-Saturday, 7am-10pm. Sunday and city holidays exempt. So basically, you have to pay to park during El Burro Pollo's business hours. Coda has a deck too, but I think it's more expensive than parking on the street. The last time I paid to park on the street here, it cost $2.30 for one hour.El Burro Pollo has a very nice stall inside The Collective. The Collective, in general, looks great. It's clean and contemporary. El Burro Pollo has an eight-seat breezeway-facing bar. When the weather is nice, they'll open up the glass doors so if you're sitting at the bar, it feels like you're sitting outside. The Collective has a spacious outdoor patio with a three giant digital displays. The bar wraps around to The Collective's inside dining area where there are plenty of seats, including at the counter of El Burro Pollo. The kitchen is open so you can see the staff prepare orders. The stall has two tablets for customers to place their orders. During my visit, one tablet was manned by an employee and the other was self-serve. I used the self-serve tablet. I noticed the menu on the tablet was slightly different than the menu posted on the wall as well as the laminated paper menus at the counter. More on that below.El Burro Pollo serves botanas (snacks) like Duros (Mexican wheat snack, $2) and Cueritos (blanched pork rinds, $5), Mexico west-coast-style ceviches, "Juarez-style" burritos, and specials like escabeche (tuna salad, $10.50).Here's what I got:* Beef Taquitos ($9.50)* Kimchi Quesadilla ($8.00) - flour tortilla, queso Chihuahua and queso fresco, kimchi, avocado sauce* El Burro Pollo burrito ($10.50) - charred 10" wheat tortilla, Chef Hector's chunky three-chili-hot-sauce-marinated Springer Mountain chicken, "Burro Pollo" slaw with fresh cabbage, carrots, radish, cilantro, and seasonal vegetables, "Banderita!" tomatillo, sour creamEverything was delicious. The Beef Taquitos and Kimchi Quesadilla weren't on the print menu. They were only on the tablet. A regular quesadilla was on the print menus, though. The Beef Taquitos were crispy and filled with a satisfying amount of tender and juicy meat inside. The outside had the same wonderful avocado sauce that was used on the Kimchi Quesadilla. The Kimchi Quesadilla was excellent, from the high-quality, delectably-charred tortilla to the two luscious cheeses inside. Finally, the original El Burro Pollo burrito was outstanding. It was fresh, filling (lots of tender, marinated, shredded chicken), and unique. I really liked the three-chili hot sauce that was used to marinate the chicken. As a fan of veggies, I loved the fresh and crunchy slaw. The tomatillo and sour cream tied everything together. The El Burro Pollo is one of the most gratifying burritos in Atlanta.Service was excellent."

Kien H. "So they're open Late night on weeknights, which is till about 1:00 or so. When I work late I appreciate stuff like this. Maybe you would expect it to be a little dreary or they're winding down at 12:15 at night, but no not necessarily. This spot was still very lively. It's very brightly covered so the environment and the ambience are very pleasing. It's bigger than you think it is though, you have a initial area where you can sit and then you have a duck off around the corner, and there were plenty of people there at 12:30 at night so apparently this is one of those spots to where people stop in on a late night tip on a regularChips and salsa - they were good Just the right amount of spicy. I wasn't in the mood for it but I appreciated the taste because I hate when you put things in front of me like chips and salsa and there's no real taste to them, this had a little bit of a kick.Steak quesadilla - So the steak quesadilla was good, they cut it in two instead of at fours which was fine, it just made a little bit bigger to handle. Not a big deal. It was pretty greasy though. You hold one side of it to eat the other side is definitely dripping out. That was notice but flavor-wise it was still pretty good.Carna asada - The tacos were good as well. I had to at least try taco if I'm going to go to a spot that is taco in the name!Pollo taco - again, the tacos were generally pretty good. Nothing ever shattering but solid taco work.Tinga quesadilla - Now this joint was amazing! Well it was really really really good. It was a little greasy, but the flavor was out there! I got the quesadilla with cheese and I was thoroughly pleased. And it's actually a pretty good size so you don't need to get a lot of other stuff because it's fairly filling. One of the times that I went when I get off of work, it was late, or early, and they were out of a lot of things. But it wasn't communicated that they were out. Now see I can't hold them fully accountable because it ended the day I did come 30 minutes before closing. But if I order something, I feel like you probably shouldn't wait over 10 minutes to tell me you don't have it, because I'm assuming that it's being prepared. That isn't a make or break situation for me because of the timing. I understand, I work in the service industry, so I know that you can't have everything all the time, especially when people are ready to close and they've been working all day and some specific ingredients maybe out.I would go back here if it was a late night situation again, they were close to closing but they still said they would seat me and I appreciated that. The food was good and it was for a really decent price too."

"Nice setting, tempting small plate, entree, and cocktail choices, but I got the SLIGHT impression that our server just wasn't really in the "mood" to deal with us (or anyone else...) the night we were there. No worries, no harm/no foul... The food here is too good to "ding" a bad attitude. We started out with the tostones with cheese and pineapple salsa, which was SO good, I (selfishly...) didn't want to share!! I'm going to STEAL this recipe and ATTEMPT to make it at home!! The menu was challenging, EVERYTHING sounded wonderful, but I went with the Brasilian Pinchos de Hongos (deliciously seasoned portobello mushrooms and assorted roasted veggies), while the others at my table went for an order of beef empanadas and veg. arepas. They also took advantage of the 2/1 margaritas. I was tempted to try one of their desserts, either the 3 leches cake or the maracuya passion mousse cake, but was "good" instead... There's a great variety of creatively done L. American small and large plate options here... I hope to return one day and try some more!! Mmmmm!!"

Alex H. "My family and I decided to go to Kiosco on a whim to start our weekend off as the reviews were great and the food looked delicious. This originally was a Cuban restaurant, but it has since changed and they now serve Mediterranean cuisine. A lot of people recommended making a reservation and I recommend you to as well as it's a super small spot.Although the restaraunt is small, the space is so quaint and cute. They have a small bar in which you can sit at, along with regular seating. The space has low lights at night for dinner and really was a relaxing ambiance. On arrival, our table wasn't ready yet, but we were seated at the bar I. Which we could order drinks and appetizers while we waited. The party we were waiting on took a bit longer than the staff expected and they were very accommodating. They made sure to check in with us and even provided us an appetizer on the house. We really appreciated the customer service. Although we waited, we didn't mind because the staff made sure we were well taken care off and really provided exceptional customer service throughout the whole night. Now let's get on to the food and drinks. Everything was absolutely amazing!!! I can't stress how good everything we had was. The appetizer we had was the mezzo trio which had a beetroot humus, roasted red pepper feta, and tzatziki with house made pita bread. The roasted red pepper feta was the star of the table. We also ordered the spanakopita which was like a creamed spinach filling with ooey gooey cheese and was delicious. I could go on and on about each dish in detail, but I'll spare y'all lol. Just know it was all great and you can't go wrong with anything. I loved my pulled beef! It was so tender and seasoned very well. The drinks were also delicious and everyone enjoyed their drinks. The pink lady drink was refreshing. The espresso martini, you could tell they made the espresso fresh and was a great night cap to end my meal.Price wise it was a bit pricey as it all added up, but definitely worth it. I definitely will be back as I'd love to also try their breakfast one day."

John B. "A much hyped place, which deserved it. This is a vegan restaurant, billed as being Cuban though the dishes seem broadly Latin American to me. I purposefully did not eat much before coming so I could indulge, and thus when I was recommended to try a dish I'd never heard of, I took the chance. And indeed, that's precisely the sort of reason you'd want to come here; the chochoyotes, which are corn-based dumplings, apparently exist in a variety of non-vegetarian forms, but the one here was promised to me as a "flavor bomb" and lived up to that billing, with some combination of coconut, pumpkin seeds, something spicy, and a variety of flavors I struggled to place. A house salad wasn't overly complex, but was large, delivered a ton of avocado but also some nut-based substitute for queso fresco that was quite satisfying; non-dairy cheese is not easy but it can be done well.A fruity agua fresca was a wise decision and the tropical atmosphere was appropriate. I was glad I finally found an off day when I was in Atlanta because at peak times the reservations fill. And why shouldn't they?"

The bowl is quite filling and contains the most delicious pulled pork, rice and savory black beans. The flavors are truly incredible. Add the hot sauce and creamy cilantro sauce for an elevation of flavors. I also can't visit without the getting their beef empanadas. They're really good. Lily S. "What an amazing hidden gem in sandy springs! The food was amazing, a wide variety of Latin selections. I was craving lomo saltado and this place def hit the spot. We also got the loaded tostones with pulled beef (amazing flavor and was surprisingly filling), traditional ceviche (not my fav as the fish was a little too chewy), and the ropa vieja.Service was not the best as we had to flag him down a couple times but I think he was just trying to not be too interruptive. However, while we were dining, a homeless person wandered into the restaurant and asked us for money while we were dining at our table..... the homeless person circled back and confronted me AGAIN as he thought I was calling the cops but I was just on my phone texting- we were shocked and were so put off by this as the host was at the front and just let him in??? The server said the host was very young hence didn't have enough experience but I think that's a ridiculous excuse. If she's old enough to work, she should be old enough to carry common sense."

The high energy from the employees and the Latin music in the background set the tone for Sunday Brunch. The large steel tree in the middle of the dining area looks like it could withstand a nuclear blast. I think they call it " the tree of life" very cool artwork. Fri, Sat, Sun, they have $3 Mimosas and Sangria specials. I had the white Sangria, and it was pretty good. I paired it with the churros chicken and waffle. The interior is low and a bit dark, perfect for the consumption of massive amounts of protein. Rebecca T. "While searching for the best fried chicken in town, I would've never thought that I'd find it at a Peruvian restaurant! Las Brasas is an institution in Decatur, serving massive portions at affordable prices. My partner and I ordered arroz chaufa, elote, and a half portion of fried chicken to share. The elote was creamy, salty, and very sour, probably from the Tajin and lime put on it-- but solid! The arroz chaufa was humongous, with enough portions to feed us for five nights-- tasty, too, and the sauce that went with it had a surprisingly-potent kick!Star of the show, however, was the Peruvian fried chicken ("pollo frito"). We got the half portion (which was the smallest amount), yet it was still massive with two thighs and a wing. I'll be honest and say that, while one of the thighs was perfect (tender, juicy, crispy), the other thigh was dry. Sadly, a bit inconsistent, but I still enjoyed most of the chicken and I especially loved the crackling outer skin. I think the chefs also sprinkled Tajin on top, which added an extra pop of flavor to an already-flavorful chicken.Be aware that service can be really slow and a little standoffish-- we spent over an hour at the restaurant, but to be honest, this is a place to take your time and enjoy the meal presented to you. Las Brasas is a great staple to the Decatur community, and I would return for more!"
