Our first time eating here. We probably won't be back. Unfortunately, my seafood pasta wasn't very fresh. One of my mussels was closed. It tastes more like gumbo/fish stew than a seafood pasta dish. My husband had the ribeye, which he said had a nice marinade flavor. Our ceviche was not great. The menu said it was $18, but we were charged $25 for a ceviche that has only one shrimp on top. The fish was minced so tiny. We didn't like all the extra charges that weren't told to us in advance. We were charged before ever looking at a receipt. When we asked for the receipt after paying for everything, it came with a complementary dessert, which so happens to cover the overcharge. This place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, we won't be back because we felt cheated. It was a bit pricey for what we ordered.Second review. The chef and owner reached out to me and refunded my overcharges and my dish. It has a good flavor, but one of the seafood was bad and ruined the dish. I would give this place another try. There are lots of new dishes to try from this restaurant. My husband did like his ribeye dish. Wished it was a better 1st time experience.

Lemme tell ya. We LOVED this place! The owner is walking around greeting every table, she is so nice and is doing it all right! The flavors of all dishes are superb. I would have NEVER put cinnamon in my rice but wow it was one of my favorite things. The beef AND chicken empanadas were 12/10. I could seriously make those an entire meal. Their bread is home made and absolutely delicious. They have indoor and covered outdoor patio seating options. 11/10 would recommend trying them out!

Just arrived and wonderful waitress greeted us took our drink order after seating us. The place is very clean and the atmosphere is Modern and very comfortable. Smells wonderful in here and I can't wait to try the food. The chef came over to the table, introduced himself and explained the menu items to us. Very nice. The Chef's Vegeterian plate was excellent! Quinoa, black beans, squash and plantains were perfectly balanced and delicious. Eggs Benedict, cauliflower mash pan seared salmon we're all done to perfection! The staff was very friendly and attentive. We throughly enjoyed our dining experience at Astors.

Nice ambiance, service could be better, but the oxtails are absolutely delicious! Very tender and a nice pairing with the plantains and rice. Good price as well! I've been twice I will definitely be going back.

I love the story behind this restaurant. The owner can be seen walking around greeting guests and telling the story. The inside is more intimate while the outside is perfect for patio brunch vibes. I have been to this restaurant 3 times and never been disappointed. The unique flavor profile is what sets their food apart. If you go on Sunday, enjoy their penny mimosas. peri peri wings 10/10oxtails 8.5/10mussels 9/10curry goat 7/10 ( needed more curry in my opinion)peri peri shrimp and ribeye 9/10.

A wonderful experience! Came yesterday to celebrate my 21st birthday, so many interesting and unique flavors we'd never tried before. Friendly staff, welcoming vibes and a beautiful patio too.We really enjoyed the chicken & beef empanadas, Bobotie, Bitlong and Stuffed Peppers. I'd definitely recommend getting the samplers. Everything that passed by on a plate smelled AMAZING, can't wait to come back and try more.

Want to give 3.5 stars but rounded up. This is a small, charmingly decorated restaurant in Katy, popular for birthdays and family celebrations. We came on a Friday night and the place was packed at 7pm (be sure to make a reservation). The menu is large with Latin and African dishes; we had a variety of samplers and all sorts of dishes from steak to fish to fufu to pasta. The food was 10/10 and so were the drinks. The chef came out a couple times to make sure everything was in order. This was all great from the food perspective. However, the service could be improved during dinner rush. Our table never received any menus and ended up looking at the menus on our phones. Our water glasses should have been refilled more often than they were. The waitstaff (not specifically our server but others who attended our table such as the bus girl) had difficulty understanding me multiple times (possibly because it was so loud). At one point I felt I needed to start speaking Spanish to be understood. There were a number of bus boys standing around doing nothing when they could have been helping refill waters. There was a live saxophonist playing great music. We would have tipped him but had no cash perhaps he could have a venmo QR code for cashless tips.

We came for a friend brunch to catch up. Reservations were easy to make. We went at 1pm so it wasn't crowded at all. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. We ordered the mystery penny mimosa. They bring random flavors and you pay for the first and up to 5 more for a penny each. Great deal! We ordered 2 different appetizer samplers (not pictured). The best dish from what we ordered was the Epetada. The menu is interesting and we'll definitely be back to try more things. There was a DJ out on the patio. We couldn't hear it inside but it was loud outside.

I recently discovered this gem of a restaurant in Katy, and I must say, the glowing reviews were absolutely justified. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top-notch. Our orders arrived promptly, and to my delight, the owner/chef took the time to personally greet each and every customer. To start off our culinary adventure, I tried the chicken empanada, and it was a true delight. The chicken was bursting with flavor, encased in a wonderfully crispy empanada shell. The accompanying sauce was a delightful complement that elevated the dish even further. Next up was the calamari, and I was thoroughly impressed. The calamari was perfectly fried in a delicious batter that left me craving more. And here's the kicker - they offer 1 cent mimosas for up to 6 drinks after your first purchase! What a fantastic deal. For the main course, I opted for the curry lamb, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. The dish was a symphony of flavors, with tender lamb bathed in a curry gravy that struck the perfect balance between spiciness and curry goodness. The seasoned rice served alongside was the ideal accompaniment. My girlfriend went for the oxtails, and they did not disappoint. The oxtails were wonderfully tender and packed with flavor. Needless to say, we will definitely be returning to this establishment. The 45-minute drive was absolutely worth it for the exceptional dining experience we had.
