The Tofu bahn mi is my favorite! I love the curry sauce which I find unique compared to other tofu bahn mis in the the city . The ingredients are always so fresh and I often treat myself to a chocolate croissant too. I'm grateful to have Artisan Boulanger in South Philly!

Decent food but the middle aged lady who took our order was incredibly rude to us. The service was quite bad and her attitude made it seem like she was doing us a favor. She was much warmer to other customers who were white. My assumption was confirmed when I saw other reviews saying that she was rude to POC's.My friend had to call her more than 5 times before she responded to us. I went to her as the water dispenser was low on water and did not see any glasses nearby. But she looked so annoyed and did not even offer to refill the dispenser even though we had already ordered multiple items by then. I have never experienced such a negative atmosphere at any other Philly restaurant and will not be going back.

The pastries at Artisan Boulanger Patissier are phenomenal. Some of the best croissants I've ever had by a long shot. They get really busy on weekends, often with a line out the door - but weekdays are less busy, typically with plenty of indoor seating available. The chocolate croissant and blueberry cheese croissants were fantastic, but in my opinion, the almond croissant is the star and an absolute must order. Looking forward to returning!

Amazing croissants, great service! Came here for a family graduation, from out of town. Friendly server, knew exactly how tea is served, and the croissants were delicious!

tl;dr skip the oft-recommended pistachio croissant in favor of this inviting, family-run bakery's more savory optionsArtisan Boulanger Patissier is a popular French-Vietnamese bakery, opened back in 2002 ago by husband-and-wife team Andre Chin and Amanda Eap. A Cambodian refugee, Chin escaped to France and studied cooking and baking in Paris, before he and Eap wed and moved to South Philly. Over the years, the patisserie became most well known for the nut-flavored croissants and bread leaves, earning them multiple James Beard Award nominations. The shop is built into the corner of a side-street townhouse. A maroon-and-white awning hangs over the window planters and black metal patio furniture. The inside is bright and inviting. Floral-cushioned benches are built into the window alcoves. The pastries are meticulously arranged onto ornate dishware on the white-marble display counter. The chalkboard menu and a portrait of the late Chin hang on the subway-tiled wall behind the counter. Red-and-white woven chairs are pressed up to rounded marble tables at the far end of the room. When we arrived, one of the friendly staff members gave us a quick rundown of the entire pastry lineup. Enthused by all the options, we decided to dine in and split an assortment of items: an Almond Stick (the last one!), a Pistachio Croissant, and a special Ham and Cheese Croissant. My friend's favorite item was the almond stick: long, dense, and flaky, with an even layer of semisweet almond paste. Meanwhile, my partner and I preferred the ham and Swiss croissant was drizzled with rich bechamel sauce, toasted up, and served on a porcelain dish. While slightly soggy on the inside, the exterior was flaky, and the combination of flavors was absolutely delicious. The size and flavors felt hearty enough to be a standalone breakfast. Lastly, the pistachio croissant was the only letdown -- the pine-green filling was overwhelmingly sweet and only moderately reminiscent of pistachio. The bill ran a little under $20, and we were satisfied but not stuffed. While Artisan has to compete against some superstar South Philly bakeries, it nonetheless blends quality with comfortable, neighborhood-oriented service. While I wouldn't recommend the popular pistachio croissant, be sure to snatch up a ham and cheese one the next time they are on special.

I love this place! The absolute best pastry shop in South Philly. The pastry's are always divine, the service is speedy, and the atmosphere is great. Make sure you get there early, as when they sell out they're out for the day. A fantastic place for a quick breakfast, or a sweet snack.

I recently returned here after not having visited for a few months and it was pretty disappointing. I don't know if there was a new chef in the kitchen, but my egg and cheese was just not up to par. There were thick slices of unmelted cheese and the croissant was not warmed up like usual. The egg was still cooked well, but the quality of the sandwich was just not what it previously was during past visits. The coffee here is still excellent and the service remains timely. As previously stated, there are about 20 seats indoors and the vibe inside is quiet and calm.

I absolutely adore this place! This is one of my top favorite bakeries in the south philly area. it is a cute little family owned french bakery with a little viet influence! they sell viet coffee and banh mis! Their croissants /sandwiches are delicious, they are fresh, soft, and flakey. Everything here is always very fresh. They rotate a few new items every couple weeks or so, but they have a huge selection of pastries. My personal favorites are the peach & cream, waffles, fruit tarts, and their croissant sandwiches. You really can't go wrong with anything you pick up from here. The bakery has plenty of seating options and the interior is super cute. Everyone working here is super nice. The place is cash only!

I came here due to @cass_andthecity's recommendation and Y'ALL. RUN DON'T WALK. However, I did walk here all the way from Fairmont and it was worth every step (8,000+ to be exact). The bacon was cooked to PERFECTION. Not too thick and not too thin. And the eggs were . I'm allergic to raw eggs so I'm always nervous about ordering a breakfast sandwich. Now is that me taking a gamble? Absolutely. But I can assure you this is worth the risk. 10/10 no notes. And an extra shout out to the nice older gentleman with the 76er's hat who took my older. You're a star
