This was a religious experience. It wasn't busy when we visited. When you walk inside you order and pay at the front counter, and take a number back to your table. Our drinks were brought to our table almost immediately and the food came out pretty quickly. We split the jumbo platter between 4 of us and could not finish it even after pushing ourselves to the limit. Before and after picture have been provided. The flavor was rich and the meat was buttery and tender. The barbar Mac and cheese was honestly life changing. One of our friends called his mom after only a couple of bites to tell her about it. It was that good. True level bbq.The blues music playing overhead was great and perfect for Mardi Gras, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We cannot wait to come back and try more dishes!

Made a plan with a few friends to try out this spot on a Friday for lunch. We arrived a few mins before noon and had 3 other people in line before us. Once in, we placed different orders based on our individual preferences but also decided we would share with the table. You place your order at the counter and then find a table and once the food is prepared it's delivered to your table. The ambience was nice and relaxing and the music was great! Definitely a few old school r&b classics played while we were there for about 2hrs.Food choices1. Tex-Ethiopian platter for 2. We really enjoyed the injera bread and the rib tips. The stew had a really deep flavor which made us smile.2. I selected the 3 meat plate (brisket, awaze brisket, pork ribs) with mac and cheese and beans. I truly enjoyed the beans and the pork ribs. The brisket was sliced thick- which is not my preference, but it had good smoke flavor. I did like the flavor of the awaze brisket.3. Awaze brisket plate with greens and rice. My friend enjoyed her plate and shared that she would bring her parents back to try the restaurant out.Overall it was a nice visit and we love trying fusion flavors. Given the fact that I live in The Colony, not sure I would drive back to Arlington just to eat bbq again. However if I find myself in Arlington and hungry, I would definitely return!

It was worth the drive!Since I have heard so much about this place, the hubby and I decided to take a day trip(it's almost an hour from where we live). I am so glad we did!Smoke 'N Ash is an Ethiopian BBQ joint. Combining all the spice forward delicacy of Ethiopia with the slow, smoke technique of great BBQ.This menu is full of options. If you just want great bbq, you can order pork ribs, sausage, chicken, and such by the platter/ 1/2 pound. However, if you really want a treat, go with the Tex-Ethiopian!Big Q and I split the Ethiopian Platter for 2. Smoked Doro Wat(smoked stewed chicken) was absolutely succulent! Rib tips were more tangy and savory than the traditional sweet, which worked beautifully with how tender they were. Awaze brisket and ribs were over the top in spices and flavor. Super tender and smoky, you didn't even NEED the sauce( and you know I'm a saucy girl). For our sides, we got the Gommen collard greens and berbere mac n cheese. I wasn't that crazy about the greens( they were a little different than the Gommen I am used to), but when you eat them with any of the proteins, it works! The berbere Mac n cheese was less creamy than you may expect Mac to be, but it was cheesy and perfectly spiced with an easy hit of heat from the berbere. Plus, the Injera it was served on and with was Gluten-Free! Be in the know, alot of Ethiopian establishments cut their teff flour(which is naturally Gluten-Free) with wheat flour because it's cheaper. So, be sure to check or ask if the injera is made only with Teff Flour if you are Gluten-Free.All in all? GOING BACK!Check it Out!

We loved the food at Smoke'N Ash! Tex-Ethiopian platter is the way to go - sampler of several meats and 2 sides. Brisket with the awaze seasoning is amazing. Make sure to get the mac and cheese too! Friendly service, fantastic food, definitely worth the trip!

It was very tasty. I will definitely be going back here. It was really good. I'm to understand that sometimes they have live music so sounds like a good date night place as well.

My daughter and I split the TEX-ETHIOPIAN PLATTER FOR 2-$41.99Smoked Doro Wat (Chicken Stew), Rib Tip Tibs, Awaze Brisket, Awaze Pork Ribs, and 2 sides, served with Texas toast and choice of injera or rice pilaf. We substituted LAMB instead of PORK for +$6)There was some confusion about Texas toast; we had to ask twice for it. I was confused about what meat was what; not sure we got lamb Everything was very tasty; I really liked the beets!! The margarita was ok; not very spicy or strong. Located in a shopping center, there's plenty of parking. You order at the counter and are given a number to put on your table. Plasticware and to go containers are located up front at the end of the small bar. Tables and chairs are scattered around the remaining space.

We arrived about 10 minutes after they opened, and there was already a line of people waiting to order. The line moved a little slowly but it didn't take us too long to finally get to order. As for the food, everything was very good. My sister and I ended up sharing the TEX-ETHIOPIAN PLATTER for 2. We both really like the awaze pork ribs. For the sides, we tried the mac&cheese and collard greens. Both were solid options as well. We also loved the Ethiopian coffee. We chose the spiced coffee, and it was delicious. The strawberry cake was fluffy and moist, and was large enough for us to share as well. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of seating. Since we got there early, I'm not sure how long people typically have to wait for a table. Overall, I'd be happy to visit again and bring family and friends who want a new take on TX bbq.

So so good! Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food! My Sister and I tried two variety platters. One platter of bbq variety. One platter with vegetables and 3 meat options. We tried desserts as well, lemon cake and sweet potatoes pie.Bbq platter: great variety to try for the first time. The brisket was the star! Everything was ell seasoned and grilled to perfection. Loved the flavorful rice. Mac and cheese flavorful and cheesy. Veggie and meat platter: great variety. The cabbage and carrots were tasty. The red lentils flavorful. There was nothing we did not like. So worth the over an hour drive. Looking forward to hon g back soon. Both desserts were flavorful and just the right sweetness. Although the pie had a bit of spice.

I have never seen this combination anywhere so it was a fun experience trying the food. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and were sat immediately. If you are in a hurry or have plans after the meal I would not recommend going. It took about 20 mins just to have someone offer drinks and take our order. After putting in the order it took about another 20 minutes to have the food come out. We ordered the Tex-Ethiopian plate for 2 and it was more than enough food. Everything was very flavorful and was glad I got to try a little bit of everything. The brisket was so soft and tender. I was also a huge fan of the greens. Next time I will def try the lambs chops as well. Food was a 5 star for me, service not so much. Had to wait 15-20 mins after requesting the check to finally get the check. Recommend this place if you're looking for something outside of the box but still close to Texas bbq. I will be back to try more items here

This place is a hidden gem!! I don't know how I didn't know about them for so long, but I'm glad I do now. The service is fantastic. I had an issue with my ribs. I felt like they weren't hot, especially for the wait we had, and they were quick to replace the entire meal even though I only wanted my ribs and had already ate my sides. That tells me they do good business in addition to having some BOMB food. For that, I will always return. Here are my ratings:Ribs 9/10 Brisket 8/10Berbere Man n' Cheese 10/10 Beefy Collard Greens 8/10 Everything was hot and tasty, and you don't find that every day. I will definitely be back!
