"Friday night dinner around 6:30p with family. Walked in, pleasantly welcomed by staff, and entered the line to order. Everything looked delicious. I decided on the 1 meat and two side plate. It comes with 2 pita. Pita is being made right there, fresh. It's so good!! Dining area was nice and clean. Plenty of seating and we were checked on. No complaints about anything! 4 meals of the 1 meat/2 side plus drinks and tip was less than $80. Not bad considering the amount and quality of the food."

"It's funny how from the outside you wouldn't think much of a restaurant with a plain text sign that says "Istanbul Grill". But it caught my partner's eye since Turkish food isn't a very common cuisine.We came here to celebrate my grandfather's 100th birthday and he wanted to treat 30 of his family members out to dinner. The restaurant graciously provided us 3 long tables for our reservation. The interior is very Turkish. Beautiful artistic taste with the evil eye decor and colorful handmade lighting fixtures. The service was unmatched. If you finished your water, right away someone came over to refill. I swear this was the most hydrated I've ever been at a restaurant. The food was PHENOMENAL. Everyone ordered something different, but we shared a mixed cold appetizer platter and a mixed hot appetizer platter. They even served the table warm pita bread. The cold appetizer was a really nice mix and the flavors all blended so nicely together. The most memorable hot appetizer I was able to get my hands on was the zucchini cake - YUM!Since I was with a large hungry group, I knew to order a few things on my own. I got a red lentil soup which warmed my soul. I could order seconds or thirds. For entree, I got a lamb chop which truly tasted fresh off a grill. My partner got a gyro plate. The meat was so tender and perfectly seasoned. Some family members enjoyed a Turkish coffee and Turkish tea - they loved it. The restaurant even provided a baklava dessert platter with a candle for all of us to sing Happy Birthday to him. Wonderful staff, wonderful food, memorable experience. Highly recommend Istanbul Grill."

"The place is looking a little rough with the booth chair material showing large holes and places on the wall have tape and dents. Despite the aged appearance, the lunch buffet doesn't disappoint. Everything is so tasty!Plenty of vegetable choices and meat choices. I love their baked cauliflower. The seasoning just pops in your mouth. Same goes for the cooked spinach, and the cooked mixed vegetables. The saffron chicken is lovely because of the sauce which I like to sop up with my pita bread. The salad bar has hummus, baba ganoush, fatoush (cucumber and tomato salad), and tabouli. In addition to warm, fresh Arabic pocket bread, you can also get zaatar bread. I always finish my meal with the rice pudding. It is firm and has a few pistachios in it. The best I have had in the area. The drink station has generic sodas now, but they taste nearly the same as the big competitors that you are familiar with. Holiday prices are $25 for the buffet. Ouch! But hey, the food is still worth it. If you need to leave your seat, leave your plate and get a fresh one. The staff will take your used plates and leave your silverware. You pay at the entrance before being seated. This allows you to hangout or leave as soon as you need to without having to get anyone's attention to pay the bill. Still a great experience!"

Located in a busy newish plaza, I was totally unprepared for the wonders inside. I chose baba ganoush, Greek salad, and root vegetables paired with a sauced chicken and the whole thing was amazing. I realized too late I probably should have chose falafel because that's something I don't get at home; or just all veggie sides because they were so amazing. I also failed to add a dessert to take home, but now I have a plan for the next time I am in Dallas, right?I consider this a must-visit."

I have never actually eaten IN the restaurant, I started doing takeout during COVID and typically pop in to grab lunch. They have really been able to enhance and expand their area. It really speaks to the quality of their food, and the service, that they just keep getting bigger and better. When I came this week, it appeared like they were hauling in what looked like a pizza oven? I don't know, but they are up to something that will no doubt be delicious.Speaking of delicious, the food is SO GOOD. My typical lunch is the shish tawook sandwich. Now, COVID prices are long gone and a sandwich will cost you $7.99, but it is still a good value. It delicious, perfectly cooked, a generous amount of chicken, the wonderful wrap that they crisped on the outside to seal in all the goodness. Golly. That isn't even mentioning the pickles and wonderful garlic sauce that brings it all together. You could put that sauce on some cardboard and make it edible. I even ran into a friend, while I was there to pick up. Because once you know, you know. I am really happy they are doing so well, the best Mediterranean food in Arlington."

It's very convenient and always clean inside. It is most definitely a family run business. They all have big smiles and so friendly every time we come in here. Don't get in a hurry because it's not fast food. However, we never wait too long at all. We always start with their amazing hummus and pita bread. The pita bread is very fresh and always hot. Almost to a point that you can't hold it too long. The hummus is a generous portion and SOOOO good.Tonight I had the gyro with their fries. My wife had the chicken kabob. They don't scrimp on portions and the meat is delicious! I could eat this every single day of my life. Even their fries are crispy and tasty. Once inside though all of your worries wash away & are met with inviting staff and comforting decor. What's cool about Sahara is that it's both a restaurant and a market, so you can shop authentic Persian/Iranian produce while you dine in or wait for your to go order. Today I tried their $15 lunch special, which comes with your choice of protein - rice or salad & two sides. Everything was made to order and fresh, was well seasoned and well proportioned. I have no complaints. I was also finally able to try some potato tahdig, which was a highlight for me because a lot of middle eastern places in the DFW metroplex don't serve it to guests. If you're in the area, give Sahara a go."

For fans of the Flying Carpet - the menu is different and a bit more expanded and that should warrant a visit regardless. The new menu still has some old favorites, such as the Adana Kabob, which I ordered and which was still awesome. The Wife's Chicken Gyro platter was also delicious. Coupled with fresh baked bread and that relaxing, authentic atmosphere, we are happy to add the Flying Carpet into the rotation again, as should you."
