American Essence Cafe

This is one of my favorite breakfast taco spots located at my company building. I must say the breakfast tacos are soooooo yummy. I get bacon, potatoe, and cheese no eggs and the green sauce they have is to die for. I wish I had the green sauce at home that taste like that I need to know the recipe of the green sauce. But other than the tacos I must say the bacon, potato and cheese croissant is really good. The croissant is so buttery. I havent tired much of the menu at the cafe just breakfast because it can get a tab bit pricey. But I have heard that the pancakes are good for breakfast, the chicken salad sandwich are good, the meatloaf meal is good and a few other items for lunch are good as well.

The owner, Juan, is from New York and worked as a chef there which shows in his skills and passion for the business. He does brisk breakfast business offering pastries, breakfast tacos (the green sauce is the best in the world), lox and bagels and Mexicans omelets as well as gourmet coffee and teas.The lunch offering are a wide variety of deli sandwiches, tacos, baked potatoes and daily specials (grilled Tilapia, roasted chicken breast, Swiss enchiladas, meat lasagna and chicken quesadillas) are excellent. His home made soups are all delicious.

My review is really a 3.5 - delicious sandwiches. Fast and high quality ingredients...only dropping it down a bit bc the sandwiches felt a little salty and quite overpriced. I'll probably be back to try more things though!

I love this cafe. Even though it's located in an office building, it is a fantastic restaurant. It's great for a quick and delicious breakfast or lunch. Great music, too! They have daily specials for entrees and pasta dishes. My favorites are any of the pasta specials and the breakfast tacos.

We were looking for a great place for breakfast and American Essence didn't disappoint. It is actually inside the office building, so park in the visitor space in the garage behind. The breakfast tacos were awesome, but there were only 2. I easily could have eaten 4. My husband got the French toast: thick, crusty outside; warm, soft gooey inside. Delicious! The owner was awesome. He made my kids some breakfast tacos just like he does for his own kids. They were also very fast, having to cater to the office crowd. A great place. (The coffee was good too.)

5 stars because of how dependable it is. The breakfast tacos are A+, they make a creamy tomatillo sauce daily fresh! One of my new favorite salsa verde, you can buy a little container for your lunch if you made tacos, or I dip my chips in there sometimes. They offer bacon, sausage or chorizo for meat options, and have flour and corn tortilla! I special request egg whites. Pro tip: call in your order It's definitely can be pricey, but they are the best option if you want to stay and eat in the building. They offer Mexican coke, and topo chico, and my favorite is the honey siriacha chips. It's true the lady can be rude sometimes, I still order though, I love the baked potato, and they have specials written in chalk on the board behind them! A nice little dining area for you to have a decent meal with coworkers. Enjoy yall!

My line of work involves a monthly visit to the Houston-Galveston Area Council offices. And before I spend an hour with the H-GAC Board of Directors, I make it a habit to grab breakfast at the American Essence Café on the first floor.There are two items that I'm totally obsessed with: the breakfast tacos and the croissant. I don't order both together; I get either one depending on my mood.I'm not a fan of breakfast tacos per se, but this place makes them just right. I get mine filled with a delicious combination of chorizo and potato. The chorizo looks and tastes like chili much to my delight. You get two served with this slightly spicy guacamole dipping sauce.Okay, the croissant. Simple yet nicely baked. I love how it's fluffy to where it melts in your mouth with each bite. The butter it's dabbed with gives it a nice sweetness.The staff is really nice. Juan, one of the cooks, is very laid back.

Amazing food and the ladies here are great, order came out as we wanted and quick.We had the veggie omelette of the lunch menu with salad on the side and a loaded backed potato.There green salsa is spicy and amazing.

Their breakfast tacos are the best I've ever had! Juan is super nice and remembers his customers!!

This place is terrible. I went down 37 minutes prior to closing and they said I couldn't order a burger because they've already put everything up. They close at 3pm. It is 2:23pm. I asked for a cup of potato soup instead, which is noted as today's soup. They gave me a cup of green broth that has nothing in it, really, there are no noddles, potato, vegetables, just watered down broth AND then tried to charge me $7.75. Also, I have reported them to the Health & Safety Council. The women that waited on me had a runny nose, a wet cough, and wasn't wearing a hair net or gloves, which they haven't either time I've gone in. It is such a shame that places like this exist.
