As a seafood lover and a fan of Queer Eye, I had to give this restaurant a try, even though I had ordered more than I could eat. It was my first time ever having a salmon burger, and it was fabulous! I also wanted to try the salmon ceviche since salmon has been my favorite fish since I was young. There are lots of specialty items unique to the restaurant, and I am loving that. The service is warm and welcoming since it's a family-run spot, and since they have a history of selling fish, you can totally trust them in handling the seafood and keeping it fresh. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are available. It's a 10/10 for seafood lovers, and if you're not, they have other options as well!

My chilaquiles were tasty but SO spicy. Don't blame the restaurant- I am the gringa. My husband loves his birria Benedict. The service was very friendly and prompt. The space is rough (cement floors and space heaters) but clean. I will definitely return.

Are you paying attention? Pay attention! If you're in South Philadelphia and you're looking for a delicious breakfast at a really good price, this place should be at the top of your list. I'm not kidding here. Go somewhere else and you'll just embarrass yourself. People will point at you and say the most nasty things about you! Go here and bring people with you. Bring lots of people with you!

WOW the food is delicious. As a Queer Eye fan, this spot had been on my list forever. I've been making an effort to checkout the Italian Market during the week, so when I was in need of a lunch spot to bring a friend for a 'thank you' meal, I decided it was time to scratch Alma Del Mar off my list!My friend had been before and was excited to go back. This friend and I have a pretty great system when it comes to eating out together. Without fail, everywhere we go, we are both stuck deciding between the same two menu items. The solution? Order both and split them. Our visit to Alma Del Mar was no different. She highly recommended the Lobster Benedict and we both thought the Banana and Bacon French Toast sounded like the perfect blend of savory and sweet so that's what we ordered.Let me backtrack a bit and say that we arrived around 1 PM on a Tuesday. There was no wait, and we easily grabbed a table inside. The service was very friendly, and prompt. You can tell this is a family owned establishment. They are cash only, and offer an ATM outside. Our food came quickly and was exactly what we wanted and needed. The Banana and Bacon French Toast was more so french toast with banana on top and bacon on the side. We decided to cut up the bacon and sprinkle it throughout. Delicious! The Lobster Benedict was perfection and I loved the seasoning on the side of potatoes. When it came time to pay, the price point was super fair for the quality of the food. I can't wait to return and try more options on the very large menu!

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place despite coming back again and again. This is such a delicious brunch place off of Washington and 9th. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor is covered by this gigantic tarp overhead and they have heat lamps if its cold. This place gets busy especially during the summers. The selling point is seafood, Mexican and beautiful food at a reasonable price. The food is really delicious and I have tried different things each time I came. I highly recommend the lobster Benedict and the stuffed french toast. They have something for everyone which is great! They recently are cash only so make sure to bring cash. I cant wait to come back!

If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out! My boyfriend and I have seen their Queer Eye episode a bunch of times and have been dying to come all year. I have to say that I didn't have a single thing that I didn't enjoy. You read that right: everything was delicious! We started with the calamari, which had its own unique texture due to the maseca coating. I was really surprised at how well it worked! My boyfriend had the swordfish, which he ate all of so I guess it was good. My shrimp tacos had to be one of the best I've ever had--that aioli was EXQUISITE. We finished off with churros, a true classic. Because of the heat warning that day, they also supplied a free glass of an agua fresca of your choosing. This family is truly so caring about their business and only want to feed people good food, so definitely give them a visit!

An absolute hidden gem, skip the apps, go straight for the fish! This is the place to visit if you want to experience a pre-covid authentic restaurant dining experience. Dress warmly if it's later at night. BYOB.Must get: octopus*, bronzino, mango saladMeh: calamariMissed out: all the fishesIt is so refreshing to write a restaurant review after the long covid hiatus. It is without a doubt that many establishments have struggled to balance a traditional restaurant experience, amazing quality food, and shortening each dining experience to allow for appropriate sanitation. However, Alma Del Mar figured it out...and it does so by having only 1-2 people take on the role of the cook, waiter, and greeter. They march at their pace, and your job is to enjoy the show.I gotta say, before even going further into the experience, I really loved this place - we went during cinco de mayo and they had (slightly loud) live music playing and the overall energy was intoxicating. For food, the (everything) is very fresh, and I still can't stop thinking how Alma managed to put mustard on fish, and made it so unforgettable. Seriously, the food here is so filling and amazing that the price is entirely justified. My friend got the beef + seafood option, and they were quite pleased with both the quantity and the quality of the meats. Finally, the octopus - it was so perfectly cooked, but just a bit too salty. However, the grilled watermelon was so wonderfully paired to dilute the saltiness, sigh, it was so amazing.Overall, I could go on and on, but you won't go wrong if you spend a little extra to try out the main dishes. Seriously, call to make your reservation and go already!Food: 5 starsService: 4 stars (can be a little slow)Price: 5 starsAmbiance: 4 stars (it's really just a space between two buildings covered by a tent...but hey, it's got style.

The colorful decor drew us in but quickly took a back seat to the service and tasty food. Nestled in the heart of the Italian Market, this hidden gem resides. We really stopped for coffee but could not resist ordering due to the delicious aromas emanating from the kitchen. There is nothing better than a late afternoon snack of Birria Benedict and Huevos Ranchero.

Went for brunch - great staff and great food! My sister in law is celiac and she ordered the eggs Benedict with home fries instead of biscuits. The staff informed us they do have gluten free biscuits and we were like wow nice! Turns out they went out of their way to GET GLUTEN FREE biscuits from the bakery ACROSS the street. Their attention to detail and the quality of their food is unmatched!! The tres leches French toast was my fav. So happy and so satisfied with my experience.
