Akira Ramen and Hibachi

This would be one of those restaurants that I would completely missed when I pass by that block. It is quite small and not located in a big plaza. Don't expect there will be plenty of parking spot because they don't. Spots are actually very limited. I ordered two of their ramen: Black garlic and Tonkatsu. They were on average. Soup base was not too bad but the ramen is bit the authentic Japanese ramen noodle. That bowl of ramen probably would have taste a bit different if they use the real kind of ramen. Their Korean bulgogi beef rice was something I would reorder. It comes with plenty of bulgogi, a side of kimchi and also salad with a dressing that I like. I also tried their steamed pork bun. It was not bad, quite juicy and flavorful. The amount of sauce was on point. The lady is the only person I saw in there, running as a cashier and a waitress. But the place wasn't that big and not much tables were seated when I was there, she was able to manage and provide my family and I a friendly service. She checked with us a few times in case we needed something. Tbh, if this place is located at another location, maybe a bit more people would notice and want to try. Just by looking at the outside, I don't know if many others would want to go in for their food and willing to return again and again.

We were so excited to try out this new place in the northeast area of Philly. We walked in about half an hour before closing so we ordered take out. Even still we were able to observe the lovely ambiance. Indoors feels really authentic. Like I mentioned, it was very late but we were still welcomed with a great service which made the whole experience even more delightful. I ordered a shrimp ramen and my husband ordered the chicken ramen. I really enjoyed my meal, it was yummy and very filling. My husband didn't really enjoy the noodles, as he was hoping for some hand rolled noodles but everything else he enjoyed as well. We also received a reward card which upon receiving 10 stamps (if I'm not mistaken) we will receive a free meal - so that's always exciting.

Nice decor and good service. Wasn't too busy when we came.Takoyaki: 4/5 pretty solid takoyaki. One of the better ones and each bite had a good amount of octopus. Greats crispy exterior and soft interior.Spicy Tan Tan: 4/5 a solid bowl of ramen. Great flavors; noodles were cooked perfectly. Tender chashu and decent flavor on the eggs. Love the whole egg. All together a solid ramen bowl! Overall: A good place to go for ramen! One of the better options in the area and the portions are good. I love how they give a whole egg instead of one half.

For the last 2 years while I slowly progressed into a couch potato. I've watched Japanese street food vids on YT. I'm all about the culture. Hope to visit Dobuita one day. As such, I've been on the journey for legit cuisine. This place checked out. I really enjoyed the springrolls and my Ramen. Service was excellent, although we were the only ones in the restaurant. Even still - decent service. Ambiance is ok for what it is. I mean, you're in a mini strip mall. Its nothing too elaborate or fancy but it works. I really enjoyed the music. I was also surprised at how quiet it was inside. No street noise at all. Castor ave is a steady stream of people and cars - heard nothing but the music of Japan. They really did an amazing job bringing Japanese cuisine to the NE. I wish nothing but the best to the owners and chef. I'll be back again soon.

Tasty food and great service. The portion size was appropriate, and spicy was truly spicy. It's a small place, but clean and with superb service.

Great add to the neighborhood this place is very nice their is about 6 booths inside but we got take out. Family owned very friendly and food was great. We got steak ramen, black garlic ramen, vegetable ramen and shrimp teriyaki, fried rice, popcorn chicken and chicken hibachi. We all loved our meals each ramen had its own flavored soup. We will definitely make this place a new goto place. Almost forgot daughter loved her japanese flavored soda "melon"

This is a great hole-in-the-wall place. It would be super easy to miss, but we were walking by and decided to stop. The service was quick, the food was awesome, and the prices were reasonable. It's definitely worth giving it a shot.

Their food is way too salty. They don't make their own broth they buy it.. They use package broth which is not as good as restaurant made broth.The delivery service is way too expensive. The ambience, inside, their restaurant is blah.

This is my new favorite place! The food was delicious. The staff was very kind and courteous. The portions are maybe a little lighter but the price is lower than other restaurants in the area too so it's great because you can order more food and enjoy more variety. I decided dine-in on a Saturday night and let me tell you - I had the whole place to myself; it seems most people order their food to go. It's a shame because the dining area is immaculate and the atmosphere is fantastic. Oh well! Anyone who isn't taking advantage of this place is missing out!My food was so good and I was still a little hungry after I finished my vegetable bento box, so I ordered pork buns and a Thai ice tea. Both were awesome! The chef even brought the food out himself - I thought that was great! Very friendly and attentive staff! You can tell they have a passion for food! I will definitely be coming back!

Definitely recommend top tier food top tier customer service as a first time customer definitely earned its spot on my list
