Durham hidden gem! Hidden away in a strip mall, it's easy to miss. This is now my go-to for sushi take out. I love that their rolls are 50% off (when you buy two or more) and they are always delicious! I have eaten inside once and the vibes leave a lot to be desired + the service was extremely slow. However, anytime I order for take out it is always ready promptly. My favorite rolls are: Bagel roll, crazy roll, and sweet dragon roll.

I know, I know... why grab sushi in North Carolina? Well, I craving it and was not disappointed. It's not a hole in the wall nor is it some upscale Japanese restaurant. I'd probably call it the "neighborhood's sushi spot" because it's casual, good, and the staff is just super nice! I had a chicken bento box and a half-side of their rainbow roll. Their chicken was nicely grilled and all the sides were just nicely portioned if not over-portioned (in a good way). Their rolls alone are already a 10/10 because they didn't over-do it with the rice. It was a really good balance and the fish tasted fresh for being in NC! Staff was extremely friendly, and they came by often to refill my water. They even gave me a free green tea as a departing gift back to CA. 100% recommend and would come by again.

I'm a regular at Sushi at the Park, but wanted to try something new. The Shumai were okay, but not much flavor without the sauce. My two rolls were definitely not worth the price they were marked, but with the 50% off of 2 or more, they were decent. I probably won't go back for sushi, but I might try the hibachi as it seemed several people around me ordered it. The restaurant is clean and quiet, tucked away in a unique location. The waitress was nice and guided me to two of the salmon rolls. Overall, if I could give a 3.5, I would.

I was excited to try Akashi after reading all the rave reviews, but I was ultimately disappointed. The service was friendly and the presentation of the sushi was beautiful, but the flavor was lacking. The rolls were bland and lacked any real kick or excitement. Even the special mayo sauces didn't add much to the overall taste. Overall, I would pay this type of money for a sushi experience like this.
