Gas station sushi? Akami Sushi Bar in Raleigh, NC is connected to a gas station, but don't underestimate the quality. Lunch bento boxes come with miso soup, mixed greens salad, & a variety of fresh sushi, sashimi, & maki options! Service is attentive, but when peak times hit, expect a bit of a wait. Nice sit down tables & seats at the sushi bar! Would come back!

I have been to Akami twice for dinner and once for lunch. The sushi was exceptional every time. As a self-proclaimed sushi snob, I can say that without a doubt this is the best sushi I have had outside of NYC and Miami. It's a cozy and inviting space, the staff is friendly and efficient. They do not take reservation for Friday and Saturday dinner.

We had a great table by the wall with a woman on the mural. It gave us a good view of entire restaurant and sushi bar. Our waitress was super sweet and efficient. The miso soup was delicious. The salad was just ok. I had the ginger dressing and it tasted watered down. Next time I will try the wasabi salad dressing. The cucumbers were good, I had one tiny tomato, the greens were fresh but a bit tasteless. For my lunch special i had sashimi and I added a south beach roll. The sashimi was so fresh and the pieces tasted amazing. I also really liked the tuna roll. The south beach roll was probably my second favorite roll in my life. And I have been eating sushi for 40 years. The combination of the spicy, crunchy and fresh ingredients was just wonderful. I will certainly return. Love this gas station sushi.

Fish was fresh as usual. The only thing is that it took a while to come to our table, but no problem at all! Server was very nice!

My partner got the nigiri and sashimi set and really liked the quality and value of the set! The sashimi were a healthy size, tasted fresh, and had a nice presentation. His favorite was the escolar/butterfish(?) which was his first time trying it, though we found out afterwards through googling that you shouldn't eat too much of it or you'll have an upset tummy!I don't eat much sushi but I got the seared scallop, chutoro, and tamago nigiris and I enjoyed them all! It was my first time trying seared scallop nigiri as opposed to not seared, I think I prefer not seared better. It's a quaint place, we got seated at the bar which was nice. And service was good!

Great high quality sushi for amazing price. I went for lunch right when they opened and it was full within 20 minutes so come early! I got a lunch special that was very filling and delicious and not super expensive. They also had lots of unique fish that were on the specials board. It was nice a quiet inside. Servers were very kind.

This is literally the definition of a hole in the wall as it is connected to the back of a gas station. My friends and I had just finished walking around the Chinese lantern and wanted to grab a bite to eat. I trusted yelp to find me somewhere tasty and it sure did!I love the artwork on the walls here as well as the hand drawn specials on the board. This place is tiny since it is attached to the back of the gas station, I'd say only about 10-15 tables.I was pleasantly shocked by the quality of the food and the price. Coming from NJ/NYC area, the amount of food we ordered would have easily been double the price. This is one of the few sushi joints I've been to were they actually used real miso paste to make the soup, not a instant packet. The raw fish tasted extremely fresh and just melted in your mouth. The ginger vinegrette for the salad was delicious.The waitresses all had shirts that said gas station sushi which I thought was hilarious. They were tentative and very kind. I wish I lived in NC so I could come here all the time!

After a lot of good reviews I decided I had to stop. Hands down, the best sushi I've found in NC. We thought it was also a great price and had a unique setting in the "gas station". The staff was friendly and very aware of timing and delivery of the food. I had the ShrimpDon and it was perfect and perfectly seasoned too!

Had a lot of sushi in the area and this was the best I've had. Excellent. Will be back

Ok. So there is nowhere else in the the Holly Springs/ Fuquay/ Apex area I would go to eat sushi. I'm talking about FRESH! I'm talking flavor! Uni shots (pictured) for me and wifey...yes please! The restaurant is small. I'd make a reservation, but it is so worth it. Not cheap but we did it up. We did our research before we went so we had the backstory of the chef. Anticipation is 50 percent of the experience! Bathrooms are shared with the gas station so the atmosphere changes when you go. Again, kinda cool and all part of a unique dining experience. I felt like he was a celebrity chef. Highly recommend!
