This is so heartbreaking to write, but I feel as if people should be weary of the owner and his discrimination. I am in no way a "snowflake" nor do I think everyone should bow down to my needs. I actually despise that kind of behavior. However, I do hope that the most basic laws put in place by the federal government and Texas are uphelp when I walk into a business. I have been coming to Agora for over a year now, at least once a week, sometimes more, to get homework done. I have a fully-trained (task trained) service animal meant to alert for my low blood sugar issues. He has been accompanying me at Agora ever since I discovered the place. He lays under my table and sleeps until it's time for us to leave, making no noise or disturbance. Most people don't even know he's there.Last Friday evening, I was peacefully doing my homework when the owner promptly walked up to my table and aggressively asked me why I have a dog in the store. I tried to calmly explain to him that he was a service animal and that we come here every week. He then asked me "how am I supposed to know if it's a service dog? give me papers" to which i calmly explained that "papers" do not exist and that people who provide "papers" are likely passing their dog off as a fake service dog. He decided my answer wasn't good enough and told me I was welcome to sit outside or leave. I told him if he discriminated against me and made me go outside or leave, that I would be calling the non-emergency police number to report him and his business. The shocking part is that he responded with "I know I've already gotten a ticket for it". So, I guess he really doesn't care if he's breaking the law, he just really doesn't like dogs? He finally gave up and then started demanding I show him my receipt for my drink to make sure that I purchased something to be sitting there. I handed him my receipt and he waved me off aggressively and stomped away. This whole interaction, even though I know I handled it the way I am supposed to, was very anxiety-inducing to me and it ended up sending me into a panic attack. This is heartbreaking to write because I absolutely love Agora, but now I am at a loss of what to do. Do I go there and hope I don't get harrassed or do I stop going somewhere I love? It's unfortunate that the owner has made it come to such a sad decsion for such a great place that I loved.

The few times that I have visited this cafe it has always been crowded and really no parking. Sometimes I went after 10pm and it's crowded. It seems like folks like to come to study, do group work or just have wine. I haven't really tried anything that I can rave about there. I did enjoy the belly dancers show. It was random to me but was still something different. People hang out on their patio all night as well. To me it's almost similar to the hookah lounges but without the hookah. It's not my first place to go to work outside of my home. You have to make a purchase to get the wifi code. The wooden chairs aren't my fave to sit in while working. But because it is open late it's usually my last resort when I need to finish what I started lol.

What a gem of a coffee shop, with a Greek theme, 2-floors of seating that were packed when we visited on a Saturday afternoon, warm lighting and cute wooden tables and chairs strewn around the cafe. There is outdoor seating too!The parking lot only fits about 8-10 cars but we found street parking just a block away. The menu is extensive from Vietnamese iced coffee to salted pistachio lattes. I got the turmeric latte which wasn't caffeinated but very tasty.

Really cute place to get work done, drink coffee, socialize, & enjoy the sun(on the patio). Big variety of pastries, light bites, coffee, tea, & cocktails. Will be coming back and bringing all my friends to cowork!

I wanted to like this place more, but it's not just for me. I was told this would be a great place to chill and read. It was loud and uncomfortably warm; all of this made it hard to focus. It's a beautiful venue with good drinks and service, so I understand the popularity, but it was just far too busy for my liking and not worth the effort to find parking. Non peak hours may produce better results.

Always Houston staple coffee shop. The music is a little loud. They have upstairs and downstairs seating but watch out for the steep stair case. Lovely staff and ambiance with delicious drinks.

Stumbled on this place, trying to find a warm drink on a freezing day. This south Floridian definitely needed a respite, and Agora was just what I needed. Looks like such a warm home environment when you walk in. So welcoming and the smells of deliciousness waft to you immediately. I had the most delicious pistachio latte and my friend a simple hot chocolate. The pastries are a good mention. I loved seeing so many people reading books and studying all over the place. You definitely have to be quick when someone gets up to get a seat. There are 2 floors. If you have bad knees, watch your step please they are steep. I am.lookong forward to trying another type of warm drink maybe some tea next time...

Agora is a unique, Greek influenced coffee shop that's perfect for studying, getting together with friends or a coffee date! If you're looking for a truly local coffee shop with a more unique pastry selection, this is the place for you. The inside of Agora has quite a few tables, perfect for small groups or pairs, and it always seems busy! Thankfully there's a second floor and outdoor seating as well (with some bigger tables outside). Since it was a nice day and we were walking by we opted to stop for a coffee and a pastry on the patio. I chose one of the current specialty lattes, a delicious salted pistachio latte on ice which was amazing! I'm normally a black coffee/espresso purist but occasionally I'll get a flavored latte and this one was perfect for the flavor and not feeling like I was injecting syrup into my veins (aka not overly sweet). While there were a lot of pastries to choose from, we opted for a strawberry cheese cake (cake with strawberries and cheese) that perfectly complemented my iced latte on a nice day! Even though we didn't get them, the baklava and Greek cookies also looked amazing. Agora is probably my favorite local coffee shop in Houston and I've never had a bad drink there!Pro-tip: their parking lot is kind of small but you can do street parking north of agora. I highly recommend walking if you are able!

Always my go to for a late night cappuccino. The ambiance always has a trendy vibe. I especially love that they stay open late and offer a variety of libations, coffees, cappuccino and lattes as well as desserts and cookies.

This is one of "the" spots a lot of native Houstonians know of. For 10:00pm on a Thursday night this place was packed! I think it's the mix of convenience that it's open late and the place got 2 full stories of seating area. Be careful if you're going upstairs, the stairway is like really steep. Since it was late at night I just got a cookie, and it was pretty good. They got plenty of drinks other than coffee available so that's cool. It was loud, there was music playing, so my friend ordered and she said a mocha latte and when it was time to get her order they gave her a matcha latte. There was a bit of a back and forth of the barista saying "that's not what you said earlier" and my friend going "I know what I said" so that situation could have been handled a little bit better on the barista's end.One downfall of this place is that since it is in Montrose the parking is a little difficult. Since it is a popular place there's hardly ever parking available. And at night if I have to walk down the street for too long I don't feel very safe. I felt like I was tripping over people when it was time to leave. To say the place was packed was an understatement. So if you're looking for a quiet place to study this might not be it for you.
