888 Chinese Restaurant

We were in Houston for an Imago class and this place was recommended as close and good. It was, too, on both counts.The building is pretty and the decor is what you would expect from a nice Chinese restaurant. Clean, with a nice ambiance, and animated conversation at each table- we went twice during our weekend getaway and neither visit disappointed. First let me say, the wonton soup is as good as any I have had. The broth is fantastic; it tastes rich and homemade with just the right amount of salty - broth from a can is always full of sodium, but this was just lovely. I had it twice and I recommend it a third time!Day one we shared the chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce over brown rice. It was absolutely delicious. Sweet and pungent, the chicken was cooked very well and the whole dish was cohesive and tasty. Some of it went home, thanks to the stir fried pork dumplings we had (which were also delicious!), which was a terrific way to end the night...a swim in the hotel pool followed by a plate of delicious leftovers.I saw the Chinese menu on the last page on our first visit, so I knew I had to come back for the spicy sliced fish in a clay pot. I don't know the names of all of the spices, but they are distinctive and powerful, and really make this a stand out dish. If you're adventurous in your culinary pursuits, you need this dish in your life. I had it once before in New Orleans and this example was at least as memorable...maybe more. If you're here and looking for something new, don't hesitate, do it...it was worth the second trip and more.Petunia had the shrimp and mango dish: sweeter than either of the other two dishes we tried, it was very, very good. The shrimp were fresh and tender, the mango was ripe and sweet, and the sauce married both perfectly. She cleaned her plate, which is not the usual kinda meal, so I'mma chalk that hint up to it being one of her faves.Definitely get yourself in here and try one of the authentic dishes - it's not what you're used to...it's MORE.

So so disappointed. My grandson ordered egg drop soup but it was so thick of egg and very little broth. He also ordered fried dumplings that were cold and hard. Their szechwan beef was good and the spicy edamame was excellent, we loved the spicy chili sauce on it. I did address the problem with the server and he took it to the manager. The manager sent word by server that they would give my grandson fresh dumplings and I also asked for a small bowl of egg drop soup with more soup In it. In my opinion, the manager should have addressed this issue with me directly.With that said, I do appreciate that they addressed the issue. I know they can do better, because they used to be so good.

Always get the hunan chicken with fried rice and it tastes amazing every time. I've dined in a few times and the service is fine, never had a bad experience. And the ambiance is super chill, pretty quiet on a weekday but i never have gone on a weekend. i see it gets pretty busy when the parking lot is full.

The service was slow, there were a lot of employees and only my table of 5 and another table of 4 and it took 20 minutes just to order our food. The food had a good quantity but low quality. After just a few bites I had a terrible stomach ache leaving me in a lot of pain. I wouldn't recommend this place because if service is this slow when no one is here then I can't imagine how bad it would be if it was packed.

Met a friend for lunch in the area and heard of this place years ago. I thought they said it was a very good Chinese restaurant. Service was good, but food was very bland! Will not return.

We love going to 888 and have almost made a regular weekly habit of it. It has become our new favorite Chinese food restaurant. The staff has always been friendly and our food always comes out tasting exceptional. We always enjoy our time here, especially during the lunch hours because you can get a great amount of food for an even greater price!

Rude customer service...had me waiting way past the pickup time and was being a jersey about it...looking at their phones and being rude

My wife and I were taken to a table, we sat down and after 20 minutes, three other customers had come in. The other three customers were waited on but we never did get waited on. The two waiters for the area just looked at us. We left and told them at the front desk and they just laugh and said they were sorry. Obviously they did not care or even try to fix anything. We go there at least once a month and/or order for delivery. We left and went to Pearl Dynasty, was waited on immediately.. Pearl Dynasty did a great job and the waiter received a 30% tip.. Big difference between the two businesses.. Highly recommend Pearl Dynasty.. 888 Chinese on Pearland Pwy just lost our business..

As far as I'm concerned, this restaurant has a lot of things to offer.The food is always very tasty the presentation, spot on! The lunch time waiter is amazing, hard working and extremely efficient! WOW. The place has a full bar, ample parking and I highly recommend you try it you'll be glad you did!

I have ordered for delivery and eaten onsite. I like their wings, eggrolls, wonton soup, or beef with broccoli. Very comfortable environment and great service
