401 Main

Yall...the peeps at 401 Main are tops! Decided to stroll on in here after doing my lil side delivery gig and get some dinner.Met the owner and his crew, nice bunch of folks. Apparently, their head chef headed for greener pastures a lil while back; and they had to scale back the menu, but dang it was still good. I decided to be "good" and get the Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken. I've had some Cobb salads in my day, and this one is by FAR the BEST! Full of flavor and super duper fresh. While waiting on my salad to go, I got a draft beer from a regional brewery. Ice cold and full of flavor, these guys/gals/theys/thems keep their lines clean, If you're in the bizz..IYKYK... The atmosphere is warm, clean, and inviting. And so are the bathrooms, super clean.I'll definitely be back soon. Oh, and Wednesdays are live local music nights, come by and get you some tasty cocktails and food, I know I will!

Very clean establishment. Small inside bar area but the best part is all the different areas to sit outside. It's a small food menu, maybe only a dozen or so options, and the burger I got was good, if plain. Friendly and attentive service, too!

I meandered in on a rainy afternoon. It was a bit late for lunch and practically empty. The bartender greeted me and handed me a menu. I was told I could sit anywhere. It was open but comfortable. They have a great outdoor space, when the weather is cooperating. The only people who came in while I was there, were obviously regulars and knew the staff. They hung out and chatted a bit while ordering to go.I opted for the poke tuna sandwich. I wish I would have remembered to ask for tots instead of fries. As I find them a superior potato, but the fries were good. Shoestring style and cooked properly. The sandwich was interesting. Labeling it poke, you are really expecting asian flavors. Soy, sesame, maybe some green onion. This is a tuna steak rolled in everything bagel seasoning, with pesto, tomato, avocado, lettuce, and a sriracha mayo. I opted for the mayo on the side, as I hate everything mayo, but love sriracha. That was a good choice since it only had a hint of hot sauce and I could remove it from my plate. The tuna was cooked correctly, but one thing most everything bagel seasonings are lacking is SALT. And it was obvious the tuna was not marinated in soy or anything before it was seasoned. It was a bit bland. But then you had the pesto. Which I like, but all of these flavors together, even if you had added the mayo, was just an interesting combination. It was an alright sandwich. The prices were good and the bartender/waiter was friendly. The atmosphere was cool and I would check it out again. I may not order the tuna again, but I won't forget the tots!

We had a local discount offer for this place from a local dining club and popped in early on Christmas Eve. I thought this was more of a cafe/restaurant but upon entering we quickly found out it was a bar/restaurant. Seriously, the middle of the interior is taken up by a big bar. We grabbed a table, perused the menu and gave our order to the bartender. My wife enjoyed the cobb salad and side order of tater tots and I enjoyed the poke tuna sandwich and beer. Honestly, the side of tots were soooooo big that we ended up getting a box and taking most them home. The ambiance was casual and friendly, the kind of place locals would go to. Looks like they are dog-friendly, too. We're not often in this area but would eat here again.

We had lunch here while in the area. It was great. The pesto panini was out of sight! Nice side salad and tater tots. Our server was super friendly. We arrived at 11:30am on a Saturday and it was not busy yet. Clean bathrooms. We will visit here again.

I didn't expect much, but surprisingly the cocktails were solids. Both cocktails I've had were awesome. Friendly bartenders. Good vibes. I could see myself frequenting this lovely neighborhood bar if I lived here.

Food was pretty solid and the live music with Beers and Banjos was great. Bar service was very much lacking. Asking for a cocktail 'up' does NOT mean serve without stirring it in ice. Disgusting. And way the heck too sweet. No lemon. I get that cocktails are a thing, I create cocktails for restaurants, but it doesn't mean you throw a bunch of trendy stuff in a glass without out understanding what you're doing Stick with the beers. Good selection

There's a new chef and she's really good, casual bar food menu with some really nice artful touches as well as a few more substantial entrees. The jalapeño corn fritters with honey butter are fantastic, crunchy exterior and soft roasty/earthy flavor interior. They've got a full bar, excellent service. There are a bunch of TVs that get sports. It doesn't feel like a sports bar, much cooler than that, but it would practically function as a sports bar. It's the perfect location for Chapel Hill or Carrboro adventures, where Franklin, Rosemary, and East Main Street all meet. Best thing? You can bring your dog, the outside is dog friendly and often full of friendly dogs. I have even seen one very well-behaved cat on a leash. It's a magical place.

Really enjoyed this bar. My friends love it and are regulars here so they took me here and I can see why it's easy to feel at home here. It had a nice vibe, amazing service, good food, even better drinks, and nice outdoor seating as well. They have plenty of parking behind it and on the street too which was a relief.For food they have an extensive list of burgers/sandwiches to choose from along with things like crab legs, crab grits, Mac n cheese, sliders, etc. Their food was actually great for a bar! Don't have to say much about the drinks except that they were all good too and the prices were great as well. It wasn't packed when I went which I loved, and we had amazing service. Our waiter was super kind, helped me choose from the menu, and constantly checked on us and made sure we actually liked what we ordered. I see why it's easy to be a regular here and be comfortable with this spot.

The BEST service!! Had the nicest bartender for my girlfriend's birthday! Delicious dessert and super creative and tasty cocktails. We truly had the best time and will be back!
