1518 Bar & Grill

This place is the go to place if you want late night food on a week night in downtown Philly. We got our food pretty quickly. I ordered a Caesar Chicken salad which was very delicious. My favorite part was the salad had red peppers that were roasted and possibly pickled. The salad also had Parmesan cheese croutons which were amazing. The waiter was super nice and attentive. There are also a lot of TVs so it probably is a great place to get watch games at.

Where can you get Shrimp with Mushrooms Risotto, Fried Scallops, a Crab Cake sandwich, and a Lamb Gyro on your way to a concert at the Kimmel Center? At the 1518 Bar and Grill!Everyone in our party raved about their meal, though our meals went from "bar food" to restaurant food. Our cocktails were also very good.Our server was on top of their game, brought the menus and offered drink refills promptly - and took pictures.If you're in South Philly and looking for a place to eat, you found it!

Stopped in for a late lunch early dinner after seeing the loin king at the academy of music as it was a short walk from the theater. Loved the walls covered in photos and painting of Philadelphia. The place was very clean including the bathroom. The drinks were made very well and the margarita was one of the best I've had. I ordered the filet tip sandwich which was very tasty. I added some fried onions as nothing goes better with steak then fried onions. There was a lot of meat on my sandwich. My table guests ordered the T.E.D (thanksgiving every day) which was also a generous portion. The crab cake sandwich and bowl of mussels in white. The mussels were small in size but the serving size was huge. Our waitress was friendly and checked in often to see if everything was okay.

I've been to 1518 Bar & Grill twice. Once for Happy Hour, and I was happy to find they have an extensive happy hour menu. All the cocktails I ordered were well made on both visits, and well drinks are discounted during happy hour. On their web site they have the statement "not your typical bar food". But based on my visits you are better off sticking to the typical bar food. The food is a mixed bag. The meatballs are my favorite menu item, juicy and delicious. The meatballs are closely followed by the BBQ wings. After that there is a drop off. The mac & cheese is just OK. It's not the same cheesy deliciousness you would find at a soul food spot. The perogies were flavorless. Service is a mixed bag as well. Depending on who your server is, you can get service with a smile or service with a scowl. The décor has so much going on that I can't even describe it. You will have to check out my pictures. Although my feelings are mixed, I would probably go back to 1518 Bar & Grill to watch a game, while ordering meatballs, wings and drinks.

Had never been before-- loved that they are open late in center and have actual food on the menu, not just a bar. Our server Raven was so kind. I ordered the TED sandwich- thanksgiving every day. I'm really glad it came on this ciabatta (?) bread as opposed to a sourdough. Turkey is notoriously dry so I think a little more cranberry sauce to even it out would have been great, but it was also yummy dipped in ranch! The fries were good. Decent portion size. Would go here again

The barbecue wings are delicious! We also ordered the buffalo wings. The atmosphere is lively. It's More on the loud and vibrant side with music and several TV's to watch the game. Parking is always a challenge in this area and can be expensive but you might get lucky. We had a fun night.

George took great care of us on a beautiful Friday afternoon. The atmosphere is cozy, with a nice memorabilia collection, and the short rib sandwich was delicious. Would definitely visit again!

I'm always looking for places where I say..."If I lived here...this would be my regular place." and this is it, in Philly.Stopped in on a very busy Thursday night and snagged 2 seats at the bar.Staff and even other customers at the bar were very friendly. (I think they have a steady stream of regulars)Drinks were good, and ended up ordering the pork tenderloin and I loved it.Thinly sliced and nice and moist.The bartenders were really cool and attentive.The entire block in this section of Sansom street is cool and you can easily move from place to place. I will return.

Great food! Great setting! Good service! Fair prices and a great happy hour menu! The short rib sandwich was tender and one of the best I've had. Burger was a good portion and nice and greasy. A lot of cool memorabilia on the walls. Good lunch option.
