Zen Ramen & Sushi Burrito

We have started a Friday night take out tradition lately and have tried lots of yummy places including this one! The decor and entry are very Japanese (including the plastic food models which I love) and we had been wanting to try this place for a while. We are glad we did! We started with the Pop Rock Shrimp which were tender, spicy and fantastic. These are a certain repeat dish! I had a wonderful Pop Rock Sushi burrito (which combines two of my favorite foods! Sushi and Burritos!) packed full of those great shrimp, cucumber, onion, cream cheese and chili sauce. It was fantastic and half turned into lunch on Saturday. My partner had the Tonkatsu Zen Ramen and while he enjoyed the toppings both of us thought there was something strange and not so good about the broth. We are thinking about trying about trying the shoyu broth next time.

Saw photos online of a Naruto themed ramen spot in Tacoma and had to see it in person. I even waited early for their opening to fully capture the decor inside. This place is SO cool.Any fan of the anime will recognize Sakura, Kakashi, Sasuke, and of course Naruto in the brilliant style along the walls. The wooden style really gives you a true Japanese feel. Even the bathroom has a zen aesthetic. I ordered a chicken tempura burrito as I had to drive and it held up very well on the road as a snack. I hope to come back and try their ramen bowls.

Popped in for a late lunch and we were greeted by an enormous menu. Wasn't expecting all the anime art on the walls, to be fair I hadn't done my fair share of research / Yelp search on this spot. It's fun inside with plenty to look at. They have a bunch of food on the menu that I wanted to try but the chicken poke was calling for me today. Super crunchy chicken katsu, like some of the BEST chicken katsu I have had. It was seasoned! The poke was good, tons of stuff in it for the indecisive individual aka me though next time I would say no pickled ginger. Flavors were solid and complimented each other well. Partner got the spicy tonkatsu chasu and it was pretty good too. Overall, solid experience for us both. Prices were on par with other places and portions were generous.

On my most recent trip I had the salmon poke bowl and that has become my favorite thing from here now. I haven't tried anything I haven't liked but I enjoy every type of food the serve so there's that. Basically I highly recommend this place overall and have enjoyed everything I've tried here.

The pictures turned out nice and the food was good. I enjoyed sitting on one of the booths by the window, too. But what I was most impressed with was the service. I forgot my phone in the booth and when I called, the nice lady who waited on us had my phone, yeah. When I walked in, she remembered me and brought my phone right to me. I didn't have to tell her why I was there. Now that's a great memory and some stellar customer service. I look forward to my next visit and trying more tasty treats.

this is not even decent. i did not even finish any of my meal it was that horrible. i am from Hawaii and not to sound snobby but i have had ramen in many places and of all calibers (japan to florida and places in between). this was probably one of the worst unfortunately. i would not come here again -- in fact i would make sure to recommend against it... i have done this only on one other occasion. i went in with low expectations because i know this is not a town to have particularly good ramen and it was just so bad. i have had ramen that was tolerable and curbed my cravings for the time being but this wasn't that. the pork was so dry and the egg was overcooked it was a hard boil. the broth had no depth of flavor. we also got the sushi burrito which was terrible. the scallops in there was a really strange texture with raw fish, cooked shrimp, and a fat wad of cream cheese and head lettuce. the burrito is so large that you only get half in each bite so it's even stranger. this is no "sushi" or anything close to it none of the flavors or textures blended well. i'll let you decide for yourself but truly, i think the only people that would like this are those that have not had sushi before or who have not had a decent ramen.. not even good just decent ramen. the ambiance is interesting there's a bunch of anime around and the service is great it's a little loud.

Firecracker Shrimp was THE BEST!! Got a burrito which was HUGE!! The ramen was good too but that FIRECRACKER SHRIMP!!! LOVED IT SO MUCH!! Will be back for that shrimp!!

soooo goodi got the tonkotsu zen and the broth was very creamy and some of the best noodles i've had at a ramen placethe music was kind of blaring inside but we just sat further away from the speaker/TV‍

Ordered myself their Tonkotsu Chasu Spicy through doordash for pick up, it was meh. The broth isn't as thick and rich like Kizuki ramen. Ordered myself a side of fried tofu and fish cake. They missed my fish cake. It was such a simple order yet they manage to miss a simple item. For a total of 30 dollars with tips and tax, it's not worth it. Broth taste bland, not even spicy at all. I should have driven to Tacoma Mall to eat at Kizuki ramen.Super disappointed at this Zen.I went to other Zen in Lakewood before and they never miss my stuff and their broth also taste stronger and better.This would be my last time ordering from them.

Very friendly service. Clean and inviting. The Firecracker burrito was so good. I can't wait to try other menu items.
