Oh Zad I had no idea what I was missing I feel like if you just go in for salad you'll leave happy and satisfied .This is the freshest salad you can ever have in my opinion and what till you try the food . Service was amazing and portions were plentiful.

Edit: woke up with diahrea and the worst stomach pain. We are thinking the cause was either the grilled vegetables, the pickles, or the chicken. Be prepared to wait.If eating inside: 30 minutes to be sat, 30 minutes for food to come out, 15-30 minutes for any additional service.If ordering to go: if they quote you 30 minutes from the time that you order, be prepared to wait 45 minutes.Is the food worth the drive and wait? Depends. I've had this bookmarked for over 2 years for it's economically priced, high quantity, great value family trays. The first time our party of 3 came here, we were quoted 1 hr wait to eat inside/order to go. Inside was packed, barely anyone had food on their table, everyone seemed annoyed, felt so much tension in the air so we decided to forgo eating here and drive elsewhere. There are no perks ( like free bread or chips) to eating inside, recommend calling ahead to place to go order, made the 2nd try's wait time bearable. You can definitely feel the tension in the air while you wait though. Tray 1 ($50) feeds 2-3 people comfortably with maybe 1 meal of leftovers for each person. No complaints about taste here. Is it phenomenal? No. Would I make the 25 minute one way drive again? No.

Visited this place for the First time. Met with friends. Portions were large. Ordered Kinds of mezza- the fattoush salad was excellent. Salmon kabab plate was plenty for 1 person. Salmon was a little overcooked. Ordered the tray 1, more than enough for 4 ppl. Tannor bread yummy with hummus. Our server was nice. Although took a little time to take the empty plates off the table, got a little crowded. No space to put the next order down. The owner was there , she was hands on ( thank you ) and took some empty plates off the table and had someone take the rest. Place was clean. Lots of parking available. Friendly staff.

How not to like Mediterranean food.Zad restaurant offers authentic Mediterranean and middle-eastern cuisine. Their menu includes good selections of various dishes from grill, fryer to salads and mezze plates. The bread is prepared on site and comes fresh to your table.We ordered fattoush salad, falafels, and plates with different types of meats. Every bite of food was flavoursome. We could taste different spices and seasoning used. There was perfect amount of acidity from pickled vegetables which paired well with tender and tasty meats.I do recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and looking for something tasty and healthy to eat, good service and relaxed atmosphere.

We come here on a regular basis and order the same thing for pick up. We get the number 2 family platter with chicken and beef shawarma. There is another platter that comes with chicken and beef shawarma wraps but we do not like them as they add other stuff in the wraps and it does not taste the same. Awhile back they gave us the wraps instead of the loose shawarma like we ordered. We were told that in the future we need to order it the way we want it other wise they do the wraps so the next time I called I asked for the loose shawarma and was told then that it was not necessary to order that way specifically as tray 2 comes with the loose shawarma and not the wraps. So the next time we ordered we ordered the family tray 2 and again they gave us the wraps. I do believe it is when they are short on meat because the wraps have other stuff than the meat. I sent it back and shared my frustration with being told different things and not getting what we actually ordered. The lady working was very rude and did not apologize for the mistake. Be careful how you order at this place if you want what you actually order because they do not care and will just give you what they have ready. My husband just ordered again there a couple days ago and he ordered the tray 2 and once again it was the wraps. Please either change your menu to represent what people order or just give us what we ordered in the first place. The food is excellent but this experience has been frustrating but I am willing to give you another chance but please fix this. If I order chicken or beef shawarma then that is what I expect to get. If I order wraps I would expect to get that but I really do not care for the wraps. Thank you and I hope that when we order in the future we get what we paid for.

I am a fan of another competition restaurant in El Cajon. However, we wanted to change so we decided to come here today and I was surprised how quick the service was and how good the food was. Easy parking and ambience was nice and you can sit outside and they will turn the heater on for you. Restroom was clean and fancy.Everything we ate, including the French chicken escalope was really good. A few people including IKEA (did) dare to do chicken escalope in Usa.Rish for five people which is the second one is good for five people. If not six. So you are four and you order that dish be sure you'll have enough to take home for the fifth person

Excellent food; great experience. I had the Quzi lamb and Iraqi Kababs, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Quzi lamb was especially impressive, with a generous amount of tender, flavorful meat that was perfectly cooked. The Iraqi Kabab were equally delightful, bursting with rich, savory flavors. This visit 3.5 -4I am still a supporter of this restaurant. Just the quality of the food this last visit was not as fresh this time. The chicken was a bit dry and everything was salty. We support this place whenever we have family gatherings and when we want to enjoy Mediterranean food. So we do expect consistent delicious food.

We've been going to Zad for several years. Always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and fresh made bread. In the last few months it has declined in service and food quality . They have seemed to turn management over to a woman who is grumpy and servers who not trained ignore customers. Portions have decreased and quality has deteriorated. We won't be back. Much better options all around the area that actually want customers.
