Really friendly service ! I love how they are so open and honest to their customers. I got the pork belly bento and it was pretty good! I really liked the flavors; although it did feel like there was something missing.. it could have used maybe a bit more spice/sauce. I really liked the vegetarian spring rolls and the sauce it comes with. It's a sweet chili sauce- so it's not sweet and sour, but sweet and spicy! I would really recommend trying it!! The presentation of the food is nice as well. I like the shaped carrots :)

Yo Yo Bento was a new truck to out business park and was selling Hawaiian / Japanese fusion. I was hoping to find something like Surf Brother's Teriyaki but seeing they sold a Hawaiian bento box I thought I'd just go for that. I ordered the Teri's Yaki Bento Box (Grilled chicken marinated, tempura slaw, macaroni salad, and a small Katsu sandwich). I think I would have nixed the Tempura slaw, it wasn't very good. Macaroni Salad was on the sweet side, the chicken was a pretty small portion. The Katsu sandwich was good however.I think if I try this truck again I'd stick with a Katsu bowl. Other people at work didn't like the food very much.

YUM! Saw that they were the food truck at Ballast Point Home Brew Mart so the BF and I thought we'd give it a try. We both ordered the chicken Katsu bento. SO YUMMY! I'm Japanese and it tasted like something my mom would've made at home. I love that the bento is packed full with so many great tastes and flavors. The bento has rice, chicken Katsu, Mac salad, tempura and you get to choose a type of sandwich. The sandwich choices are Katsu, BBQ chicken or Hawaiian pork! Definitely great and I would love to try it again!

Stumbled upon this food truck one day at work. I ordered the chicken kutsu curry w/ potatoes and carrots. Food was very flavorful, the chicken was cooked perfectly. The only thing was there was no potatoes in mine. And they had me at potatoes when I ordered this dish so it was pretty disappointing not to get any.

I eat at various food trucks every day for lunch, and this is by far the best food truck I've had the pleasure of ordering from for many reasons, I commend them on their great service. The service was polite, sweet, and quick--usually food trucks take 15-20 minutes take your order and to cook and serve the food, but my order was done in two minutes, came out hot and crispy, with really cute plating (see photo). They also included multiple vegetarian options!Highly recommend yo-yo bento!

One of my favorite food trucks that stops by across the street from my work. Good food, good deal, doesn't take too long, always satisfied. Out of the 2 times they've stopped by, I've gotten the Short rib bento and the Chicken Katsu bento. The chicken Katsu (not greasy, fried to perfection with delicious katsu sauce). The short rib was like a Korean BBQ style galbi that was marinated well. Other than the main dish bentos come with tempura veggies (small bit of crunchies makes a nice addition to the bento) , rice (soft fluffy, and never dry. Also comes with a cute little carrot slice) , Mac salad (not too much mayo and perfectly seasoned, Hawaiian style), and your choice of a "small" pulled pork sandwich (juicy and not dry) or chicken katsu sandwich (as perfect as the above described katsu) with soft Hawaiian buns. The pulled pork comes with bbq sauce on it or on the side. I'm sensitive to spicy foods so it was a little too much for me. To any normal person there's probably barely a kick. The coworker (also a little sensitive to spiciness) got a Curry bowl and said it was also slightly spicy.Bottom line. Delicious!

I have been reluctant to try this food truck because I dont like people messing wtih my Hawaiian food. These people deffinetly suprised me.I ordered the Chicken Katsu Bento. The amount of chicken is nowhere near what you would get somewhere like L&L but the quality does seem a little better, still enough to disappoint though. In addition, the Katsu pre drizzled sauce isnt as sweet as one would expect. I noticed more of a smokey taste that just didnt sit well with the chicken. If the chicken itself wasnt as good as it was that sauce would have killed that part of the meal. The redemption was in the sandwich. Whoevers idea it was to put tempura flakes in with the pulled pork, I love you. Perfect sandwich. The Maccaroni Salad was pretty good and you get a bonus tempura nest with ponzu dipping sauce. Rice was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back to try the short ribs.

I got to check this food truck out at Balboa Park Food Truck Fridays. The line wasn't long and service seemed pretty quick. I got the katsu chicken bento with pulled pork slider ($13).

Got to check this food truck out during Food Truck Fridays at Balboa Park (free event that happens during the summer time). Going to the event I knew I wanted to try this food truck out. When I arrived, there was a decent amount of people waiting to order and grab their food, which meant I chose the right spot. I ordered the Katsu Curry rice bowl and was completely satisfied. he chicken katsu was juicy but had the perfect crispy outside. The flavor on the curry was perfect and had the right consistency. The veggies and potatoes within the curry were not overcooked or undercooked, just the right texture. It was everything I wanted on this summer night. Fast forward to 2 weeks later and Yo Yo Bento was serving at my work. I went with every intention to find something new, but ended up getting the same entree because I enjoyed it so much. And I was not disappointed. Everything was exactly how I remembered it from two weeks ago lol. I got what I was hoping for and was very satisfied. On top of that, the lady who takes orders and payment is really nice. She was always thanking everyone for waiting patiently for food and was attentive to the customers. Great customer service is always a plus!

I dont leave reviews often but this food truck really impressed me! I am literally sitting in front of my food (half eaten) right now just gushing over how good it is!The bento box comes with the main item, rice, tempura crunchies, macaroni salad, AND a katsu or hawaiian pork sandwich (resembles more of a slider)...which is why it's currently only half eaten. So much food and everything was prepared well! The rice - perfectly fluffy, even for asian standardsKatsu chicken sandwich - great crunch, meat was not dry, bun tasted like hawaiian rolls and was topped with cabbage and drizzled with saucePork belly - I need to know how they make this crispy pork belly. It has a wonderful crisp to it and just explodes with flavorTempura and macaroni pasta were nice but nothing special. Will be coming back for more!
