I've been to the convoy location many times before this one and was glad that this one was opening up.Everything is still the same, you get a bowl and fill it up with ingredients then bring it over to the cashier station and choose a dry or soup option. The one difference is that this location had the skewers. There's a minimum of 5 skewers and my favorite ones have been the mushroom, eggplant, sesame ball, tteokbokki, and taro. The fried skewers are very crispy and well seasoned.Service here is very quick and efficient.

i love the style of this hotpot restaurant. you choose your meats/veggies/toppings and then they cook it for you in the soup of your choicemy go to sauce is 2 spoons of tahini with 1 spoon of everything else with a good amount of vinegar, a bit of sugar, and some sesame oil14 dollars per pound is very good value especially if you get the noodles it can be very fillingservice could be better, sometimes they won't seat you even if you come 1hr before closing.they have gotten my order messed up a couple times once switching my soup base with someone else's and once forgetting to my beef back into the soup

Loved the original broth! Super tasty and full of flavor. The skewers were also very well seasoned! Super easy to overload the bowl because of all the variety of veggies/meats/and other toppings. Really aesthetic interior. Good amount of indoor seating but it gets very packed.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic spot and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The spice levels are definitely on point, even the mild option has a delightful kick to it, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their meals. I opted for the beef bone broth base, which was rich and flavorful, serving as an excellent foundation for the meal. The unique aspect of this restaurant is that you pay by the pound, allowing you to customize your meal to your heart's content. They offer a large selection of interesting meats, catering to adventurous eaters and those looking for something familiar alike. Additionally, the variety of vegetables available ensures that you can balance out your meal with plenty of healthy options. One of the highlights of the dining experience was the sauce station, where you can mix and match ingredients to create your own perfect blend of flavors. This added a personal touch to the meal, making it truly your own. The service is straightforward and efficient; the servers weigh your food, and you pay after you've finished eating, making the process smooth and hassle-free.The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and well-decorated, with plenty of seating to accommodate both small and large groups. The decor adds to the overall experience, creating a comfortable and enjoyable environment. One of the best features is the level of customization available - you can tailor your meal to your exact preferences, from the choice of broth to the wide array of noodle options. Unlike some other places, you don't have to share your meal with others, which makes it perfect for those who prefer a more personalized dining experience.Overall, this restaurant offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience with its customizable meals, extensive selection of meats and vegetables, and delightful ambiance. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a meal that's as unique as they are.

I'm pleasantly surprised that San Diego has such a solid option for malatang. There's something for everyone when it comes to protein, carb and vegetable options. I particularly like bringing a pescatarian relative here because they have the option to stick to seafood only, whereas with shared hotpot that's cooked on the table things would get mixed up. I also love that you can get as much or as little as you want.I'm always craving the tomato broth because it's so flavorful and still goes with everything in my bowl. One of these days I'll get around to trying their original broth.

4.5* (half a star deducted for the average atmosphere). We made a 20-minute drive to get here for dinner, and it was well worth it. The atmosphere was the only thing that was lacking....but when it came to the food, it was delicious. All the food tasted really fresh, and it was nice getting to mix in the exact quantities of what you wanted into your soup. The wife and I each ended up going with the Bone Broth "original" at a "medium" spice (I was going to try the curry, but they said that does not come in a spicy version). The soup came out hot....really hot.... and we had to let it cool for a few minutes before being able to eat it. The spice level of "medium" was pretty dang spicy, and exactly what we were looking for; it paired very well with the Tsingtao beers that they had behind the counter for $5.50 each.In addition to getting soup, we picked up five of their skewers, which were also really good. I loved the taro balls, while my wife loved the sesame balls. The shrimp, pork, and other skewer (I forget) were also quite tasty. The tricky part was getting to know how it all worked. After getting seated, one just walks up to the 'food bar' [for lack of a better term] and grabs one of their big clear plastic bowls. You fill it up with a minimum of 1lb of all of the lots of good stuff that they have there (pork filled fish balls, various types of noodles, an assortment of mushrooms, greens, dough sticks, etc.). Then you take that bowl over to the cashier, tell them the table number you are seated at, and they weigh your bowl and and give you a metal claim ticket to take to your table (my bowl only weighed 0.91 lbs so I had to go back and add more fresh ingredients to it....oh the humanity :) ). If you want to get some fried skewers, you grab a white basket and put the skewers (a minimum of 5) in the basket and take that up to the cashier as well.As for drinks, they have a lot of non-alcoholic options in a tall cooler as you approach the cashier. We found out that they have a selection of beer as well (Asahi, Corona, Tsingtao, etc.) --- it is located in low coolers behind the cashier, and you just ask the cashier for whatever beers you want.

Yin Tang is a wonderful place to try! It is a bit different from other Hot pot spots as this is a build your own place. Once you're seated, you get a bowl and a pair of tongs where you fill up on any ingredients that you need. Once you're done with that, an employee weighs your ingredients and you can choose from a variety of different soup bases. I personally enjoy the thai flavor and ordering a side of rice. Located near the Hmart and the In n out, parking here can be a bit difficult during extremely busy hours but it definitely is findable. During peak dinner hours, there can be a light 20 minute wait but I definitely think it is worth it. price: $13.99/lb (you must order minimum 1 lb)Overall, I really enjoy Yin Tang. It is one of my favorite places to eat at

We decided to get hot pot today even though it was scorching hot outside. I have not been to this style of hot pot restaurant before and was pleasantly surprised. When you enter the restaurant, they assign you a table. Then you pick up a plastic bowl and tongs and start choosing what you want in your hot pot. You can load up as much as you want and you pay by the pound ($13.99/lb). The minimum you have to get is one pound of food and you can choose all sorts of meat, seafood, tofu and veggies. Then you hand the filled bowl to the guy weighing out the bowls in the front and you choose a broth or you can have it cooked without broth. There were several to choose from: beef, tomato beef, curry and Tom yum and you can choose the spiciness level. They give you a number to bring back to the table. While waiting, you can create your own dipping sauce in the back. There were many choices included sacha, tahini, soy sauce, oyster, chili and other fixings like garlic, cilantro, and green onion. The cooked pot was humongous! The broth was very tasty but too salty to drink. I was surprised at the spiciness as mine was supposed to be non spicy. I didn't actually need to use the dipping sauces as everything was already very flavorful. The wait staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean and bowls were not chipped or cracked. I would definitely come back as the value and quality was good.

What a great spot for a simple dinner, or lunch. Basically they give you your table number, I.e. A1. Then you just get up and fill your bowl. Be careful it can get quite heavy. I made the mistake of getting corn, that alone was probably half a lb lol. You pick your min of 5 skewers, if you want any. Then you bring your stuff up to the counter for them to weigh and you pick your broth and go to your seat or go get your dipping sauce. They will bring your cooked out, and you pay after. The ingredients were cooked to perfection. My spinach and other stuff i chose was not over cooked at all. I like that they didn't just shove everything in the pot at once. Our broth was good. I did not like my sausage, tasted very chemically. The skewers are packed with turmeric flavor! May be a little salty to some people, but has mad flavor! One thing about this is that the place is kind of tight. We were super close to our neighbor as if we were dining together.

This Yin Tang location in Mira Mesa is in the H Mart plaza on the Meet Fresh and Daiso side. There is plenty of parking as it's a big parking lot. This location is popular, so there may be a wait list. How it works is you get a big bowl and tongs - fill it with whatever ingredients you want. Then you bring it back to the cashier to get it weighed - you pay $13.99 per pound (without soup). Remember to tell them your table number. You then choose your soup base, and they will give you a number on a bracelet to bring back to your table. When the soup is ready, your bowl will be brought to your table. Napkins, water, and chopsticks are self-serve by the entrance. This location also has some yummy skewers, which are in a separate fridge section. The minimum is five skewers per order. You can choose spice level as well. While the soup is good and mild is actually spicy, the ingredients in terms of meat are lacking. I only saw lamb or beef (and fish), but I was hoping for different kinds of beef. Their lamb and beef slices were very fatty. They had several noodle choices and even had lotus root. Another plus is if you got too much food, they will give you containers to take the leftovers home.
