Yellow Rose Cafe

06/11/24 - Jest anudder day in paradise 73 degrees & sunny. Walked to Express Auto to check on my cars body work then Moised on down to Yellow Rose Cafe 1.3 miles from my house w/my brother in law to grab some breakfast. We both ordered the Sidewalk Special for $8.99. What do you get for $8.99 you might ask? Well I'm going to tell you. 2 eggs, 2 sausage, hash browns, 2 pieces of toast & coffee. Yellow Rose is a quaint little cafeteria style joint with/a counter & bar stools & tables. Good server that's friendly &. Chatty. Nice place, good vibe & good inexpensive food

If you're looking for a retro cafe with delicious, fresh food and a laid back atmosphere, this is it! We went in around 10 on President's Day and got the last two tables to push together for our group of 4.Immediately for drinks and menus which had so much great sounding stuff we were immediately overwhelmed - in a good way! Luckily I noticed the "cash only" sign as one of our couples needed to find an ATM. Took me almost as long as he was gone to decide what I wanted! Cool was right there making our food old school and I loved that it was all fresh to order. Waitress was patient with us and thankfully explained the cook's idea of "sunny side up" and we all changed our eggs a little to ensure they were the done-ness we preferred! Food came out fast and everything was fantastic' Would highly recommend if you're looking for the opposite of stuck up and sophisticated - lol!

The perfect Chicago diner. The prices are good, the service is quick and courteous, and very straightforward and the place is not fancy at all. We love that we have such a great little spot in the neighborhood where we can get good food and chat with our neighbors.Also, their house made hot sauce is delicious!

We came to the diner after arriving early in the morning at O'Hare and coming inside looks like a total local place which I totally love!!! The houses were super nice and friendly and took our orders.I had the Chicago best special with homemade corn beef and hash and eggs... food was so so very good and you can tell it was homemade!!! The waitress so many peoples names coming into the restaurant and would always come by and ask if we needed anything and refilled coffee like a pro!!! This place is a TOTAL MUST GO!!!! Love it!!!!

First timer! Came in today and met the owner Angelo and the server Sarah! The ambiance is as cute as can be when you think of an iconic Chicago diner. While I waited for the my food I had a few cups of coffee and then they gave me a to go cup. There were so many reviews about the corned beef so I had to try it. I ordered corned beef hash as well as split pea soup. Everything is homemade and delicious. I can't wait to come back asap!

This is home!Whenever I come back to Chicago to visit I have a list of friends I have to visit, a couple restaurants I might go to and ALWAYS Yellow Rose. At this point in my life I have given corned beef a chance at many places, I'm done, theres no point. The only place to eat corned beef and hash is here. Add some over easy eggs, toast with strawberry jelly and some of their homemade spicy habanero sauce.I love the crowd, the booths, the staff. It feels like what diners are supposed to be, good food for a fair price.

Food is GREAT!! Service is so friendly and family oriented!! And the ambiance is the perfect, cute little retro diner! I couldn't recommend this place enough. I've been looking for a nice nostalgic diner and I found it. Every time I've come here, I've only had great and fast service. Everyone is so friendly and lost of regulars come in! Music is always 60s-80s hits also which is cool. I just Love this place, I come every week. Prices are also fantastic especially in this economy lol I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Today we sat at the counter. I prefer it to a table. It makes it a true a diner experience for me.

Go here. Unless you hate wonderful food, friendly service, and low prices. Then don't go here.The waitress Lori introduced me to the owner and you can see the chef making your eggs. It's tiny. Lot of regulars. I was told that if I sit at the counter I will have conversations with people who start out as strangers.And did I say the food was perfect? Breakfast and lunch. Mostly fifties American diner with some Mexican options. I had eggs over hard, crunchy hash browns, sausage patties, rye toast, homemade strawberry jam, and coffee.I'm going back tomorrow.

A unique Chicago neighborhood dining experience. Corned beef sandwich is outstanding and their corned beef hash might be the best I've ever eaten.
