Yan Tea

This is a boba tea place located on Roosevelt located in the UDistrict. The place can seat probably around 8 people but they have benches and no tables. You order on a self service kiosk and the drink is made after that. Got the bamboo oolong and the tea itself was pretty good and creamy. The temperature was not cold enough (not enough ice) and the boba size was kind of small. There were intermittently dispersed small and medium bobas in the drink which was kind of odd. Overall a good experience but doesn't really compare to the competition in the area. Love that they have a lot of unique drinks though!

Highest quality drinks, but that comes with a price. Literally. Prices here are very high but reasonable because of the high quality and authentic ingredients used here. You can taste any fruit or plant in your drinks. Milk tea isn't a big focus here, but I still enjoy the milk teas. Yan Tea mainly focuses on crema (cheese foam) and fruit teas.I also love that they often introduce new drinks through their new arrivals list. They're always experimenting and bringing in seasonal options which is exciting. One major downside is that Yan Tea is definitely out of the way for college students, but still walkable.Creme Strawberry Fruit Tea - a bit sour as a drink which I attribute to actual strawberries. When mixed, it creates a surprisingly interesting flavor of saltiness and sourness. However, I still wouldn't order this again.Yogurt Avocado with Crunchy Boba - crunchy boba is just crystal boba. This drink was pretty sweet but tasted healthy due to the ingredients overtaking much of the drink.Purple Yam Black Sugar Boba with Egg Yolk Cookie - the egg yolk cookie is at the top as part of the creama. Ube is super evident and you get chunks of it as you drink. Boba is sweet and chewy, but not too exceptional. As mentioned, Yan Tea does not specialize in the milk tea aspect so that's nothing special, but the authenticity in the ube is evident.

A boba place with unique drink combinations, such as purple yam, egg yolk cookie, and Oreo! But first off, I would like explain that a $3 food walk event happened this past Saturday on 10/02 to celebrate the grand opening of the U District Station. As such, all participating local businesses had extremely long wait times and were crowded, not because this place has poor management. In fact, the staff was admirably professional and friendly even amidst the chaotic load of orders.----- Brulée Black Sugar Boba Milk (火焰黑糖奶): $5.50 for small and $6.00 for large.The cream on top was surprisingly thick and a tad savory, complimenting the sweetness from the brown sugar. The drink is also interestingly just milk, instead of the usual milk tea. Plenty of fresh boba and overall the drink was not too sweet. Both hot and cold options are offered.-----Location is not too far away from The Ave by UW. The shop is small, but does have a few seats along the wall with a couple of little tables.

Yan tea is at a very interesting location near Roosevelt. There's place to sit but very small, can't fit more than 8 people at once. They have like 4 lines of drinks ( milk tea, yogurt, fruit tea, coconut) and each line has like about 4 varieties. They have some very interesting and unique toppings in each drink. Their drinks are mostly 22oz which is pretty big. I'd recommend this if you're looking to change the boba game up!

Giving this a higher star rating because of how much my roommate raves about it, but personally was not my favorite.I got the brown sugar taro/purple sweet potato boba, and since we ordered through the online app (only available in Chinese) it didn't have any milk customizations, which ended up being the downfall of it for me. I really didn't like how creamy it was, and it really did taste like I was drinking heavy cream instead of tea.The boba was really interesting though, with both small and large boba at the bottom! I also really liked the taro swirl. I think perhaps next time I may try to go to the store itself and see if there are any alternative milk substitutes because truly I hate milk lol

I got the purple yam with egg yolk topping. It's a really creative dessert drink with a lot of layers. I usually get the purple yam/ taro item at any boba tea shop and I haven't had anything else quite like this. Would definitely recommend for a very exotic and flavorful tea experience.

Yan Tea offers some of the most authentic and unique experiences of boba drinks in the Seattle area. Most of the menu doesn't really offer milk tea as its focus, like many boba places around here. Instead, there is a focus on dessert-y and fruity flavors. A big plus for this place is that in many drinks, there is no additional sugar syrup added into the drink and the sweetness all comes from the black sugar boba. This is perfect for us because we always have to adjust our sweetness level to 50% at other boba places. Here, we don't need to at all and the drink is sweet and flavorful enough for us.We got the purple yam black sugar boba milk. This is a really cool drink because you can taste the texture of the purple yam and adds a really nice depth of flavor to this dessert-y drink. If you've never had ube, it's comparable to taro. The boba is also absolutely just amazing. The black sugar is sweet and also sophisticated, not just plain sweetness. The texture of the boba is also perfectly chewy and soft. I will be a regular here for sure!

Great quality fruit/ milk tea!! Highly recommended. Hope later Yan Tea can work with more delivery apps!! Fantuan is not a good platform!!
