Yakumi Sushi

Yakumi is our fave sushi restaurant! Service by the sushi chef and waitstaff is accommodating and personalized. The chef was able to adapt the 'Rainbow Salad' into a beautifully presented Chirashi Bowl for me.Our Deluxe Sushi combo (32.99) was an amazing array of nigiri sushi and included live shrimp and also uni. It was comparable to an omakase platter at a great price point. We also always order a Tokyo Roll or two which is always delicious.Looking forward to returning again and maybe try the AYCE sushi!

Man, what a bummer. My first visit here was exceptional so of course, I had to come back. And I was deeply dissatisfied. The servers were not the same and were so much worse. We were ready to place our order almost immediately after being seated, but waited quite a while before someone came to our table to take our paper. After the order was put in, we again, waited very long for a food to come out. And they forgot to put in all of our items so I had to remind them of what was missing. This happened every round. Last time, one thing I really appreciated was that they didn't try to over-stuff you with rice. This was not the case this time. Back to mouthfuls of rice with my nigiri. All of the things that set this place apart from other AYCE places the first time, were not experienced the second time around.I will probably come back, hoping this was just a bad day. But very disappointed. I thought I had found a gem.

I'm just going to keep updating my reviews for this place. It has become quite the gem. Customer service is a solid 5/5. So attentive and personable. I came in with a good friend whom I hadn't seen in awhile. She doesn't eat a lot of raw fish so we ordered a la carte rather than AYCE. Their rolls were delicious and their Sauvignon Blanc was the best I've had in a while. We ordered a 2nd bottle. They didn't rush us out and allowed us to catch up over excellent wine and a great inviting venue. We're already planning on bringing back both our families for AYCE. THANK YOU!

We were looking forward to eating here and it was so fresh and service was great. We were seated right away and order was taken. There were four of us and we had salmon and teriyaki chicken bento boxes, volcano roll, super dragon roll, yellow tail nigiri was very fresh, seared albacore nigiri, scallop nigiri, California roll, yellow tail collar all was great. It was nice and quiet. Will definitely be back.

After we went to Escondido for the Animal Safari, we were looking for a place to enjoy a Japanese lunch at Yakumi fit the bill! Private parking lot, fresh food, attentive service and very clean. We ordered a kid's chicken teriyaki meal, pork and chicken gyozas, yakisoba and various rolls to share. Every roll was fresh and delish and gyoza was crispy and tasty! Glad we came here for a quick meal!

This will our new favorite spot for AYCE sushi. Fresh sashimi and sushi. Quick and friendly service. Nicely decorated. It is a small restaurant so make a reservation if your party is 5 or more.

Tried the all-you-can-eat this time and it was so worth it! For the near $40 price at dinner the food was delicious. My only complaint was it was busy despite being a week night and they ran out of one type of wine/the service was on the struggle bus. (Took our drink glasses and didn't ask if we wanted refills for the remaining 30 minutes we were there eating, didn't really check on us so much as bring our food and run off, we had to grab their attention if we wanted anything). I'm not marking down for this because one waitress seemed new and there was only ONE other working - it got to the point where they had the bussing staff come out and assist waiting on the tables. There were at least 3 large groups with one of them being EXTRA large and I could hear they had a lot of requests (reasonable ones, but without extra staff it's a lot!). Again, this was a week night! There was no reason they should have expected THAT packed of a house so there's no failure on the establishment there. The food was still excellent and we weren't waiting any huge amount of time for our rolls (gave us time to eat slower and really get our monies worth, if anything!). I'm sure it was an incredibly stressful evening but everyone was still very kind and we still somehow made it in and out in just as long as we would have otherwise.

I came here on a Thursday around 7pm and ordered 6 rolls a la carte for the table. With this being an AYCE optional restaurant, I thought that they'd be quick with bringing out food but unfortunately that wasn't the case. It took 20 mins for the first 3 rolls to come and another 20 mins for the next 3. I'm not sure if they are prioritizing the AYCE tables but it seemed like service was slow all around (likely due to understaffing with only two sushi chefs). Other than the time it took for food to arrive, the taste of the food itself was pretty good and better than most other AYCE sushi locations. However, if I'm going for AYCE specifically, I'd rather go to Little Sakana.

The sushi is delicious, and everyone is extremely kind and welcoming. The chef even took the time to make this little bear that he kindly topped with mochi ice cream. Highly recommend!

The best sushi spot in SD! Great management and service. Super sweet spot with bomb food!!
