We had the perfect summer dinner here. Great place to have girl dinner tbh. Yakitori here is delicious! It was so good that we didn't realize the pricesadding up! hahah Meat was cooked just right - I am a huge fan of the wasabi beef one (i'm sorry I forgot what it was called) and I also love love love the sunomono and the chicken karage. It's been so long where I had enjoyed every item I've ordered from a restaurant! We did walk-in right when they opened and we were able to snag an outdoor seat. keep in mind they don't have umbrellas for shade, so definitely recommend topping up on sunscreen and bringing your shades/hats. As we were enjoying our meal, there were many people who came by hoping to get a seat - to no avail or with a large wait time. I recommend calling in for reservations to avoid that fate. Parking area is large and free. Service is great and quick, and the chefs are super friendly.

If you're in the mood for a special treat or planning a date night, Yakitori Taisho is worth a visit. The skewers are charcoal-grilled to perfection, and every one I've tried has been good, with a particular fondness for the pork belly. It's worth noting that vegetarian options are limited, so plan accordingly. For those who enjoy sake, Yakitori Taisho offers a nice selection that complements their menu nicely. The staff are polite, and the service is attentive, particularly in helping guests select the perfect sake to accompany their meal.Reservations are recommended, especially for parties of three or more. While it's possible to walk in as a party of one or two, it's always a good idea to call ahead. The restaurant is small and seating is limited.Expect to pay at least 50 dollars per person especially if you're trying some sake. While I think it's worth a visit this is not a budget option.---

We were craving yakitori and this place REALLY hit the spot. Talk about a hole in the wall... Yakitori Taisho is in the corner of a shopping plaza, next to a barber shop. There's a solid amount of parking as well, which is hard to find in this area. The restaurant itself is tiny so try to make a reservation. We showed up at 5:15, 15 mins after opening, and there was no inside availability so we sat outside. We ordered chicken heart, gizzard, vein, skin, thigh, beef tongue, beef with wasabi, pork neck, squid, and scallops. My top 3 were: 1. Beef tongue: thick, juicy slices of beef tongue grilled to perfection. I intentionally ordered one more right at the end so I could end my meal with this bite. SO GOOD. 2. Pork belly with shiso: fat pinwheels of pork belly with shiso leaf, topped with plum sauce. Such a satisfying mouthful of unctuous savory pork belly. It had the perfect balance of meat to fat as well. 3. Chicken Gizzard: again, cooked super perfectly with a little char but not dried out. Perfectly seasoned and addicting to eat. Everything else was equally delicious, though I felt that the scallop and beef with wasabi could be skipped. We ordered the plum sauce, yuzu pepper, and fresh wasabi, and the three complimented pretty much all the meats so well. Do NOT forget to order the ochazuke (green tea rice) at the end. It's a super comforting bowl of rice with toppings (we got seaweed) and green tea. It was piping hot and insanely satisfying, rounding out the meal perfectly. We'll 100% be back!

My new favorite yakitori place in SD! They have an amazing selection of sake and all the yakitori I tried here was amazing. My favorite by far was the pork belly shiso leaf so make sure to order that. The place is truly a hidden gem tucked away from the main Kearny Mesa area. The inside is pretty small but gives a very intimate vibe that is perfect for the whole experience. Recommend more for date nights and small groups.I wish I remembered his name but the chef cooking the yakitori truly made the experience for us. If you're lucky enough to sit at the bar in front of him, you're guaranteed to have a good time!

I really like yakitori and this place is probably one of the best in San Diego. Parking is easy since it shares a big lot with a grocery store. I do recommend reservations though since it is a pretty busy but tiny restaurant. I believe it's just two chefs working but the food came out quick and the staff even considers how fast we are eating and grill accordingly. We tried almost everything on the menu but the chicken skin and the beef with radish were my favorite. Highly recommend.

Soooooo so good. Came here by myself and basically ordered everything on the menu. The chicken heart was REAL tender and the sake was bomb. I regret not getting more than one skewer of the chicken heart!!!! Service was phenomenal from the servers to the chef.

Quality juicy meats on a stick, how can you go wrong. Yakitori Taisho did no wrong. We enjoyed all our meats with the yuzu, wasabi, and plum dips. All are worth adding to your order. You must finish your meal with the rice soups. Perfect way to complete the meal after the salty delicious meats. We got the green test seaweed and might have been the highlight for me. Below is my rankings for meat. 1) Beef Tongue2) Pork neck 3) Pork Belly w shiso leaf4) Chicken vein5) Chicken Skin6) Scallops7) Chicken heart8) Scallops9) Squid legs10) Beef w/ WasabiWe will definitely be returning to fill our meat cravings.

Been coming here couple times, if we drove down to San Diego. The place requires reservations but worth it. What we order are all good. Skin, pork shiso, sausage. neck, belly beef with daikon, wasabi, tongue, scallops, whelk soy dashi sauce and many more. Service are great.. place is small typical Japanese yakitori.. parking no problem.
