XOXO by Breakfast & Bubbles is where luxury meets fun! Picture this: over-the-top, vibrant pink decor, chic and playful vibes, and indulgent treats that are perfect for your next Instagram post. Cheers to champagne and my ultimate favorite, pink Espresso Martinis! (Yes, they're actually pink!) My bestie and I couldn't get enough of the stunning presentation of everything we ordered. Every detail was picture-perfect, from the drinks to the food. The service here is top-notch--everyone, from the cook to the bartender to our waitress, was amazing. They made sure our experience was nothing short of exceptional. If you're looking for a brunch spot that's as delicious as it is Instagrammable, XOXO by Breakfast & Bubbles is the place to be!

I recently visited XOXO by Breakfast and Bubbles for brunch, since it's just a walk away, and left feeling underwhelmed. While the ambiance was nice, and service was kind and attentive, the food just didn't justify the cost. The menu offers a range of typical brunch items, and a lot of sweet/dessert-like dishes, but nothing stood out. I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict, which was fine, but not for the price. Everything was cooked well but it was kind of bland. The Spice Bloody Mary was probably the best thing I ordered. If you have been to the original Breakfast and Bubbles, it's pretty much the same exact thing, just a different layout with less of the atmosphere.

Prior to entering XoXo; we booked a reservation for 12:30pm last Saturday on OpenTable app. We got confirmation of our party attendance. We can tell it was very busy from the outside, hostess mentioned there was only one open table or seating at the bar area. We opted for the bar area but found out the live DJ was very loud and decided to move to the table. The restaurant is beautiful, nice modern decor and seating area. They had no AC on just ceiling fans, we were hot!!! Flys were flying everywhere and we have to constantly shooo it away. Several red flags by the time we sat down. Our waiter "Essa" was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the summer fruit salad, lobster roll, truffle fries (it was suppose to be a replacement for my lobster roll regular fries but instead they gave me a full tray of it), dury fries, multilayered hazlenut chocolate crepe cake, Bao off their secret menu. We had ordered drinks as well; my friend got the strawberry mojito, I ordered the double shot lemon margarita and a shot of Don Julio blanco. It took a very long time for our drinks and food to come out; it was really packed inside. Mind you the flys are still all over the place. We looked over at the table next to us, they had Bao and it wasn't on their regular menu so we asked for the secret menu by the time we ordered the Bao, we overheard them complained of how rock hard the Baos were so we canceled that order. We got our food, we were digging in and once the multilayered hazelnut chocolate crepe cake came around, we noticed some mold on both sides, we immediately told our waitress. She apologized and took it to the back to talk to the staff, they came over with complementary glasses of champagne for the mold issue. We don't drink champagne but it was a nice gesture. Now for the drinks, they were weak and watered down. The margarita I had; tasted like premade margarita from the store. Hence why I ordered the shot of Don Julio. Food ratings: Truffle fries - delicious! Crispy! Great portion. 10 out 10Summer fruit salad - mixed berry, melon, arugula, almonds, queso fresco, pomegranate vinaigrette. They were just okay, 6 out of 10. Dury fries - consists of french fries topped with bbq shredded beef ribs. French fries were crispy, bbq shredded beef ribs were lightly seasoned but very small portion of protein, the gravy on the bottom was tasty. 7 out 10Lobster roll - brown butter mayo, coleslaw, crispy shallots, chives and side of fries. 6 out of 10, tasted just A Okay for an overpriced lobster roll. I didn't not taste any crispy shallots in my roll. It was a lot going on top of the lobster. Multilayer hazelnut chocolate crepe cake - had mold. My best friend was really looking forward to the dessert because we were there to celebrate her birthday. Overall, I will not return to this restaurant.

Omg! Service is hella slow!! We ordered our food at 12:40p and didn't get it until 1:15p. I wanted the shrimp Santa Fe omelette but the waitress told me they ran out of shrimp. So I replaced the shrimp for lobster. The omelette was pretty good. My daughter ordered pineapple juice. The waitress later comes back and tells us they had ran out of it. Tried to enjoy my food in peace, but had to constantly swat flies away from our plate. Not really an enjoyable experience.

I really am not one to be so terribly harsh in my reviews, but how this restaurant has anything above 2.5 stars is beyond me. My friend and I were downtown on a recent Friday for a concert, and decided to make a reservation for brunch the next morning before we headed home. My friend had been to whatever this place was previously so we weren't sure what to expect but the cutesy pink and floral interior caught our eye and we were excited to check it out. We arrived Saturday morning for our reservation, checked in with one of the servers and then were left to stand around in the front dining/bar area for quite a few minutes while other employees passed us by, running food out, checking on tables etc. The dining room further back looked to have a good amount of people in it already, but when we were finally being seated we were directed to a little two-top in the same room we had been standing in. I suppose we could have requested a different table in the other room but didn't want to be a bother. We ordered our drinks (waters, coffee and an espresso martini for me) and started to browse the menu. I settled on the Breakfast Cali Burrito and my friend decided that the Chicken Waffle Sandwich was calling her name. In the meantime, my "espresso martini" arrived but it might as well have been called chocolate milk instead. It tasted sickly-sweet like straight up Bailey's, and was garnished with three stale espresso beans on top. Hands down the worst espresso martini I've ever had.Next up, the food arrived. While my burrito looked okay (though the potatoes were visibly undercooked and majorly underseasoned), my friend's "chicken waffle sandwich" was a total abomination. PLEASE see the photo. Advertised as "Homemade fresh waffle, crispy chicken breast, salad(???) caramel syrup dipping sauce," this monstrosity was nothing of the sort. It was totally laughable! What was presented was what appeared to be a frozen Tyson chicken patty on a DRY Eggo waffle, atop a bed of wilted bagged lettuce. No side dipping sauce to be found. $18!!!When our server eventually came back to check on us, my friend let her know that she was incredibly disappointed with her "sandwich" and wanted to send it back. Our server said she'd take it off the check, and asked if we'd like to try anything else, recommending their truffle fries. We agreed to the fries, as our server assured us we'd LOVE them. They were pretty good I'll admit, but there isn't a single fried potato on this planet that could make up for that crappy "sandwich" we were subjected to.To add insult to injury, when our check arrived at the end the waffle sandwich was still on the bill. We flagged down our server to have her make the change, which she did. All in all, we left XOXO still a little hungry and a lot disgruntled. Never again!

Maybe I missed the very recent change, but is this rebooted brunch spot in University Heights no longer a "Retro Neighborhood Diner?" It's still operated by the same ownership as the past business, Breakfast & Bubbles. The interior decor retained a predominant bubble gum pink color scheme so not calling it a retro diner was probably the correct decision, albeit an identity crisis. The major modification was the menu offerings and the expansion of the operating hours to include dinner under the XOXO moniker. I didn't see a copy of that menu as my visit occurred during lunch time. One side of the weekend menu was a Breakfast & Bubbles pop-up featuring brunch items every Friday through Sunday. The other side listed the drinks ranging from milkshakes to mimosas to champagne. I would say about 2/3 of the food choices were savory. From the Eggs category, there were three benedicts, and I chose the BBQ Beef Ribs version. That wasn't a common protein for a benedict which was why I picked it. Slow braised short ribs and a poached egg were served on top of a hash brown with hollandaise sauce.I liked the replacement of the hash brown for the traditional English muffin which made it a meat and potatoes dish. The beef was tender, and the egg was cooked correctly with a runny yolk when cut open. The service was hit and miss. It was fine when I had the attention of the waitress, but flagging her down took extra effort. I am curious to see how the kitchen handles dinner as its older brethren next door, RustiCucina, already does good business in the evening.

I mean come on the ambience is beautifully decorated!!! Pretty in pink all the XOXO signs. Phillip provide great customer service although when we were ordering the tres leches waffle he was like most people don't order it. Made me not want to order but it was the first thing that caught my eye. Unfortunately it's not a true tres leches waffle it's crunchy and literally only one milk condensed on the bottom which still was good sweet enough I didn't use any syrup! Sitting inside felt humid in there so it got hot next time I'd sit closer to the outside to get a breeze because it was uncomfortably hot reason for 4 stars Vs 5! Cotton daddy mimosa was also good not as sweet as I imagined so it was good! Food fav brisket Benedict!!! Order Chilaquilles it was crunchy good flavor chicken was too dry! And the breakfast burrito I didn't want to try it but my cousins liked it! Nice place to try but wouldn't return!

Tried out this place for the first time with the Girls That Brunch group & had such a great time! The decor inside is so pretty. Beautiful black & white striped floors, pink on every wall! The bar area is also super cute. Service was spectacular. There was a group of about 40 women I was with & the staff was so accommodating! Food got out SUPER fast. I had the lobster tail, & to be honest I have had better. I'd give the lobster roll 3/5 stars. The lobster was lacking in flavor, but the sauce on top & bread was good. Drinks are 5/5, so many different choices to make. Next time I'll try a brisket dish, everyone at the table who ordered some cleared their plates & had nothing but good things to say about their dishes. Parking isn't bad if you get there early enough to find some street parking or paid parking within walking distance of the restaurant. After 11am can be hectic in my experience in the area . Overall, worth giving them a try for sure! I'm excited to also check out their dinner menu as well .

Our first time visiting XOXO at Hillcrest for brunch! What a cute restaurant! It's beautifully decorated in pink color and has this elegant chic vibe. Although there were a lot of people and the restaurant was super busy, the waitresses tried their best to serve the tables. I was expecting much slower service, so good job on their part of getting the food to the table and turning around the tables. The menu was pretty typical as you would expect for a San Diego brunch restaurant. I had their Meat Lovers Omelette with a hot cappuccino. The omelette was pretty dense. The portion was large. Potatoes were okay. Overall, average. The lobster roll was really good. Excellent size. Fries on the other hand could be better. We will visit again!

Food was fantastic! Service brought rating down two stars. No one working there smiled or were friendly. One bartender on Pride weekend? We didn't get our drinks until we were almost done eating.. Shame on you!
