What a great place! Friendly, fast and delicious! Extremely busy but service was prompt and the food came out fast, fresh and hot. Very reasonable prices for what you get, can't wait to go back to try more!Loved the true Barbacoa torta, so many layers of flavor without anything being overwhelming. Same with the Chicken Tinga tacos, wonderful!

Small in size but big and bold in flavor. Cannot rave more about chef Rick Bayless' casual yet elevated Mexican food. More pleased since his now-closed Red O in Los Angeles disappointed food wise, though the ambiance was beautiful. Ever had a Mexican-style pizza? It's called a tlayuda. Order to share!I chose the Asparagus & Ham Tlayuda. Fantastic! From the grilled asparagus, plentiful avocado chunks, roasted serrano crema and black bean spread, on a corn masa tostada. The ham was salty for me though. And it was huge! Like a large pizza. I shared some with my friend and we only ate 1/3.Papas Rancheras (smashed potatoes) - Watch out that first piece was really spicy! Such a culinary delight, from the contrast of the crispy outside and the soft fluffy inside, to the bomb cilantro crema, that I could drink.Baja Chicken Torta - packed with flavor with homemade fresco cheeseIt was hard deciding what to order. Tacos, salads, hearty soups, margaritas and beers also on the menu. Service was great, knowledgeable and efficient. My friend wanted to come back again during our trip. My tastebuds were all for it but I desired more eating adventures. Highly recommend. If I lived in Chicago, I'd be a regular! PLEASE me know what it would take to open a location in Los Angeles! I've found myself leaning away from mexican food lately, so when a coworker suggested this spot, I was on the fence. But I'm SO glad that I went along.We started out with Chicken & Mole Poblano Tlayuda to be shared with the table. I have to admit, I'm not the biggest mole fan and while delicious, having something sweet mixed in with what my tastebuds expect to be savory is always a challenge for me.For me, the Milanesa 1/2 Torta with a bowl of the famous Chicken Tortilla Soup was the highlight. It was the perfect amount for lunch and incredible flavors mixed all together.We all shared churros for dessert and, while I would like to go back for the churro sundae, overall it was a perfect way to cap off a work week in the windy city!

Made the trek to come here for lunch with a coworker. Went halfsies on 2 tortas- Pepito and Cubana. Believe it or not this is the first time I've ever had a torta , and I really enjoyed both. Bread was super crispy and full flavor profile. Portions were large and the price was good. Also enjoyed the little side patio we got to sit out at.

I came here just for some appetizers and dessert because we wanted to try the churros with the chocolate dip! The churros didn't disappoint! They were light and crispy and a nice rich chocolate dipping sauce! Definitely would come back just for the churros. The chicharrones were also delicious with a nice sauce and toppings! We got seated quickly despite it being busy! The place isn't too big, but it's still nice.

Solid oaxacan fish tacos (perfect before a night out!), the churro sandwich looked great and I would definitely recommend from my friends response!Cheers!

Food is expensive for what it is, I got their breaded chicken torta and it was a big mistake, the chicken was incredibly thin and the sorta overall was very bland. Their chips are average but their guacamole is great. Service could be better, some of the servers were hostile but it could've also just been a bad day. Probably won't come here again

I got the Classic hot chocolate, which only comes with dairy milk. I've tried a lot of famous hot chocolates, and this was definitely up there with the best. It was similar to drinking a meltedendangered species chocolate bar.I also got the Saturday special, the Barbacoa torta. Very savory and delicious! Service was great. The tipping threw me off when I checked out because the options were 3%, 5%, and maybe 10%. I asked about that, and they told me that 15% is already built in! So, don't get confused. Plentiful seating to bootI initially rated this place 5 stars, but I edited the rating. I used the restroom, and the staff started banging on the door. I yelled that someone was in there three times, and they wouldn't stop. After I came out, I found a crowd of staff. One of them explained that they were just worried about me. If that were true, they would've left after I said I was in there. Extremely rude and odd.

I give this place 4 stars due to the entrees we tried. The short rib tacos were really good.We only got food to go so can't speak to service or ambiance. If you want yummy Mexican food in a pinch it did the trick!

Great Mexican food and fast and friendly service! I really love the churros. Nice atmosphere too.
