Solid 3-star restaurant. Menu is definitely more authentic Chinese food because it's more catered towards actually spicy dishes! Even the dishes don't appear to be spicy based on the photos, they can still be pretty spicy! Also the price isn't particularly student crowd friendly. I got three entrees with one XLB, and it came out to be a bit over $100 after 20% tips. The service was friendly when I was here. Also love the fact that they had really good indoor ventilation. Came here on a weekend during busy lunch time, and the CO2 stayed around 700 ppm. At one point it spiked to over 1000 ppm, but still very good considering how crowded it was.

Came around noon on a Sunday (for Father's Day!!) and the restaurant was surprisingly empty (it seemed a lot of their revenue came from online orders). We ordered 4 dishes and 3 bowls of rice, the total was $100.77 including tip. The food was pretty good, my favorite being the Hunan Style Crispy Chicken, albeit VERY oily. All dishes were flavored very well but nothing that makes me really say wow. The service was pretty good, our waitress was super friendly. I did feel a little bit of pressure when tipping since the waitress hovered at our table when inputting the tip amount. However, it wasn't a big deal, the service was good and worth the tip.

we stopped in last night (friday) around 6pm for dinner. there was only one other table at the time. we ordered the fried mochi sticks with brown sugar but they were out. the server recommended another version of it that were like mochi round discs in brown sugar. we also ordered a chinese cauliflower with sliced pork. last entree was a dry mala dish with two proteins and veggies of our choice. the two dishes were very flavorful and tasty in their right. the mochis were ok. i prefer the fried mochi sticks.

Scheduled a take out order for holiday dinner for 4 days in advance. This greedy restaurant took my money and a lot more other people's order that they can't handle. Come today they missed their promised delivery time by hours and are not answering their phone. if you can't fill an order, then don't take it. Have some damn common sense and honesty.

Came here for dinner before a show at nearby Agganis Arena. It was insanely busy and there were people waiting in line. Luckily we had arrived early to snatch a table for two. We ordered pig ear with chili oil, salted egg yolk shredded potatoes, homestyle sauteed pork with green peppers and xiang fried rice. My favorites were the pig ear with chili oil, which looked spicy but it wasn't, and the salted egg yolk shredded potatoes. Both were my cup of tea. I would come back again when they're not so busy.

Xiang's Hunan restaurant is a very solid hunan restaurant in the BU/Allston area. It is on the pricier side for Chinese food but decent quality. I really like their mao's pork belly, shrimp fried rice, eggplant, crispy fried chicken. The ambience of the restaurant is very casual with the QR code on the table being the menu.

The experience has been a disaster.Honestly can't believe the waitress / owner is requesting tips as if we are not gonna pay. Avoid at all cost. Not worth your money.

DON'T go to this place!!!The food was TOO salty. The service was bad. The waiter even required minimum tips from us and said the owner didn't pay them the minimum wage, so we as customers had to pay them minimum tips. How ridiculous and disgusting!BTW: They promised on their menu to give free vegetable plates if ordering Lamb hot pot. We order the lamb hot pot without extra add-ons and asked for the vegetable plate. However, the waiter came to us and said the pot was too small and didn't have room to put vegetable. So they couldn't give us the free vegetable plates. Hey, first, we could cook vegetables in the pot after finishing the lamb. This just simply couldn't be an excuse. Second, we didn't expect you to give away free staff if you don't put it on the menu. If you don't plan to give away free staff, don't put it on your menu.

Poor service, there is no salt in the potatoes, the waitress asks for a lot of tips, and I had diarrhea and threw up soon after.
