My favorite place to eat when I was visiting Chicago. They have a large and reasonably priced menu. There are a lot of options for vegetarians. I ordered the family style tofu and it was delicious. It comes with an order of white rice.

My braised pork soup was very yummy! A much needed homey meal after a long day in the city. The lamb soup is definitely an acquired taste... was kind of bland with a hearty undertone? The crispy pork was soooo fatty and crispy, exactly what we wanted! The restaurant's decoration is very unique LOL they had three types of chandeliers and LOTS of red everywhere. The service was mediocre at best. Took us forever to order and pay because no one came by.

After many years of driving past this restaurant, I finally stopped in based on a coworker's recommendation. I ordered the garlic noodles with jumbo shrimp. It as very tasty, but too oily. I also ordered the vegetable egg rolls which I DID NOT enjoy at all. The sweet sauce was awful or old.The restaurant is quite large and clean.I'm sorry, but I'm not a fan.

There is so much of the menu to explore but I love the cumin lamb and hand pulled noodles and the BBQ potato skewers on a stick, they're great for takeout and quite economical - lasted me around 3 meals! Super flavorful.

Rating (maximum points = 5)Value for money: 5Cleanliness: 3Food Quality: 4Customer Service: 4Look and Feel (Ambiance): 4Thank you, Come Again?: 4It's currently 15° in Chicago and I'm craving for something warm and soothing to combat the cold weather. I first stumbled upon a nearby Ramen shop but ended up leaving because the customer service resulted in a poor and inattentive experience. Fortunately I was able to come across Xi'an cuisine. The restaurant did not disappoint. When you arrive at the shop, make sure to go up the stairs and the entrance will be on your left side. There is also an elevator option for those who can't use the stairs. Kudos for accessibility points.Biang Biang Noodles: $15 - the Noodles comes in different levels of spice. You can get the dish in mild, medium, or spicy. The noodles themselves were thick and chewy. The server recommended the wide version in comparison to the thin noodles for the specific dish. According to the menu, the noodles were handmade and pulled in the kitchen. I've had Biang Biang noodles before and felt that Xi'an's version was comparable. This dish comes with baby, bok choy, braised beef (that was cooked till tender), tofu, and chili peppers. This dish was perfect to warm up any stomach that has been outside in the Chicago cold chill weather. House Milk Tea with Tapioca pearls: $6.25 - surprisingly the tapioca pearls were chewy and a little bit overcooked. I typically don't mind pearls that are slightly overcooked in comparison to undercooked. The tea itself had a robust flavor. Nowadays, you can find Boba tea at the price range of $7 to $12. Xi'an's version will satisfy any cravings but don't expect it to be at at the level of house made premium tapioca pearls from places like Xing Fu Tang.Overall, I would return for more Biang Biang noodles if I happen to be around in the area. My biggest concern was the furniture in the restaurant was oily and sticky. My recommendation is for the staff to do a deep clean of the restaurant. The customer service was attentive and quick. Would you go? Let me know. Follow me for all the sips and trips

Ambiance: 4/5The restaurant is not too big, but was cozy enough. Service: 5/5All the servers were attentive and helpful. Food: 3/5We had high expectations coming in but the food was honestly a let down for the most part. We got the Cumin Lamb Flatbread as an appetizer. Although the flavor and crunch was definitely there, it came out barely warmed. It was a little off putting, but still yummy. We got the Biang Biang Mian and Lamb Intestine Noodles Soup. The Biang Biang Mian had a nice smokiness with thick, hand stretched noodles. However, both noodle dishes really lacked flavor, especially the Lamb Intestines one. It's like the chef forgot to add salt/ seasoning to it. We had to load both dishes up with their salt and chili oil to be able to eat them. I guess we were just expecting more of a flavor bomb since it's supposed to be Xi'An Cuisine.

We got the boiled fish, cumin lamb flatbread , biang biang noodles, and stir fried cabbage.I like how they organize the dishes into American Chinese, Szechuan, and Xi'an food on the menu. We got dishes from each of those categories. The cumin lamb flatbread and biang biang noodles are classic and must-gets if it's your first time here. The flavor of the cumin lamb inside the crispy flatbread is perfect. Biang biang noodles are fresh and delicious in that sweet savory broth. Boiled fish was textbook. Cabbage was tasty but too salty. I was impressed with the rice which was clumpy and not mushy.Service was good. I like that they have different tables for different size groups. Ample street parking in the area.

A new location that opened up in West Loop with their primary location in Chinatown. As the namesake, they specialize in Xi'an food, from the western part of China, a region that is famous for its rich complex flavors, spices and noodle dishes.ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 9/10The restaurant is set in the heart of West Loop and has a modern twist interior with traditional flair. Overall, seating can accommodate 40-50 people people for dine in.SERVICE: 8/10Friendly staff and fusion of modern/traditional setting that I felt very welcomed coming into to dine in. The waiter was helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Food was prepared quickly and came out without a hitch.FOOD: 8/10Biang Biang Mian - 8/10 - A traditional Xi'an dish with noodles and a very scant broth that is supposed to be spicy and flavorful with some ground meat. It was done quite well and very authentically!Beef Noodle Soup - 8/10 - Brothy beef noodle soup that had a good combination of spice and flavor.Shredded Potatoes - 9/10 - A simple dish made with potatoes that are shredded and tossed in with vinegar and chile peppers. It is supposed to be spicy and balanced out with the tartness of the vinegar. Despite the simple ingredients of the dish, it can often be quite hard to make. They nailed this one.Jasmine Tea Boba - 8/10 - Great boba for a place where this is not its specialty.VALUE: 8/10PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 9/10Been back a few times already.TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Chow down!OVERALL: 8/10 - absolute highest 8/10 though, borderline 9/10
