Just as pretty as it gets...Just arriving into his restaurant is a beautiful experience the area where it's located probably the nicest San Diego. Service is amazing. They are happy to have you there and it shows. I would recommend this place more for tapas than for dinner. Just go with a larger group and try a lot of stuff . I like the mushroom polenta, the jamon Serrano, and loved their brussels sprout salad. Highly recommended, it's just a great place to spend the evening.

Cute small spot near Presidio Park with lovely service and indoor and outdoor seating. We came for dinner to celebrate and the staff even signed a card for us. Reservations were easy to make online.Tapas style New Mexican food with primarily wine options for alcohol. We opted for indoor seating and our server was attentive and kind. The orange mezcal mocktail was delicious. Their seasonal special of the crab stuffed piquillo peppers was our favorite dish of the night. Ordered a lot of food! Favorites were the crab stuffed pepppers, the Jamoniberico de ballota which is Spanish ham on delicious toast and the Duck and three sisters of medium rare duck breast and pomegranate seeds with beans corn puree and squash. The duck dish really stood out, the flavors balanced nicely. Lots of street parking in the neighborhood.

Food and service were okay. All the food looked amazing but left something to be desired. Some of the seafood items were very fishy. I love some good raw fish but the dishes tasted like the sea water of Imperial Beach was dumped on them. The mini burger reigned as champion. With that said, if I wanted a good burger this wouldn't be the place I'd rush back to. The service was also below average for the amount of money you're spending. Not sure if they were short staffed or what but we barely saw our server once we placed our dinner order. It wasn't terrible but expected more. On a high note, the ambiance is absolutely 5 stars. It's the cutest place in the cutest neighborhood and their attention to detail with the decor is top tier. Would be amazing spot for a dessert and wine but I wouldn't come back and spend another $300.

Food: 4Service: 4.5Ambiance: 4.5Solid 4+ stars! What a lovely and enchanting place for a meal. The drive to the location was interesting and for a while I wondered where my GPS was taking me! The restaurant is settled amongst a residential area so parking can be a bit challenging. I had indoor reservations and we were promptly seated and helped. We ordered the harissa grilled octopus (delightfully delicious), pate (smooth and subtle but wish it had more of a punch), brussel sprouts salad (I really enjoyed the flavor profile), maize hen of the woods (wow! Loved this! Flavor and texture) and the panna cotta (silky smooth and light). My friend ordered wine and I ordered the mezcal mock tail. Service was excellent, friendly and checked on us throughout the meal. Ambiance was dimly lit but warm and inviting. I look forward to returning!

We were blown away! Hubby and I decided to get dinner. Saw this place on Yelp and decided to go. Turns out, this is one of those places where you need to make reservations because they get booked. They went above and beyond though, pulled a table and chairs out from the back to accommodate us. Downs side- you won't find any time of hot tea here and it was chilly outside but there are heaters and blankets. We started with the roe which even my husband loved and he generally is not a fan. We went on to the pisto which was perfect! Next, the beef tartar which I enjoyed and I usually do not eat that. Polenta came next, aside from delicious, there is no other word to describe it. We got the salmon as our last meal dish and this is where things took a bit of a turn. There was a blonde hair on it (both husband and I are dark haired). It also had no bread which seemed odd given the dish that it is. It was also at this point that we stopped getting water refills. We got back on track with the desserts. They were amazing. I'm not a fan of carrot cake, this one was great. The chocolate pot was *chefs kiss*. Highly recommend but make sure you make a reservation.

I really love Wolf in the Woods. First off, it's in the middle of nowhere in the Historic Neighborhood of Mission Hills area of San Diego. Just the drive there was intriguing! According to their website, they were voted Best Restaurants 2023 and 2024 Winner by San Diego Magazine. Snippet from their Website:"Our interior is inspired by the legendary folklore and arts of native New Mexico. Long considered very special geographical energy vortex on planet earth. Its rich heritage captured the hearts and imaginations of artists, visionaries and free thinkers drawn to its culture, inspiring desert landscapes and breathtaking sunsets for centuries. Our hope is to convert a little of that magic within these intimate walls nighty, offering passionately Old and New world wines and inspired small plates."My foodie friend had chosen this place for her birthday. We made reservations via the Resy app and voila. All set! Between the 2 of us, we tried:- Charcuterie Board - 3 curated meats, cherry chutney, French grain mustard, cornichons, toast points, baguette, cracker bread- Yellowtail Aguachile - raw yellowtail, avocado, serrano peppers, shallot, micro-cilantro, watermelon radish, wild flowers, olive oil- Carne Adovada - braised pork shoulder, red hatch chili sauce, New Mexican spices, fry bread, cilantro & onion- Duck & The Three Sisters - Maple Leaf Farm's duck breast, squash, green pole beans, sweet corn puree, rioja shallot jus, mustard frill, pomegranate seedsEverything we ordered - we loved. But if we had to rank.....My fave was the Duck, Yellowtail, then Pork Shoulder, and then Charcuterie Board. My foodie friend's faves were Yellowtail, Duck, then Pork Shoulder, and then Charcuterie Board. We both tried their Zero Alcohol Mezcal Mocktail. YUMMY! It was so good. Almost like the real thing that I ordered another Mocktail. Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of space inside, so the tables are small. Food is meant to be shared. Ambiance was cute. Loved the experience!ENJOY!

I was pleasantly surprised at the location of this restaurant which is nestled in a cute neighborhood in Mission Hills. The space is small and cozy and the atmosphere is very relaxed and almost feels like a bistro somewhere in Europe. The Pisto Tosta was my surprise favorite - it is a big soft toast that comes cut in three slices with very fresh tasting chunks of summer squash, red pepper and eggplant and puréed tomatoes spread on the bread, all topped with clouds of grated manchego. The polenta with hen of the woods mushrooms was good but a bit salty for my taste. Our waiter was very thorough in describing all of the dishes. Overall a very nice experience!

Absolutely adorable restaurant hidden in the middle of mission hills neighborhood. Parking wasn't difficult since we didn't have many other establishments nearby. We had rsvp which is highly recommended on a weekend and got seated in a cozy corner for 2.Our server were attentive and had great recommendation. We ended up getting the sweet corn soup, jamon iberico tosta, steak tartare, the duck & three sisters and ended with the carrot cake. My favorite was the corn soup but everything else was absolutely delicious. The steak tartare was perfectly seasoned, the iberico tosta was such a fun and balanced bite of crunchy goodness. The duck was done well at medium rare and lastly the carrot cake was the right amount of sweetness and joy to end the night. We came for our anniversary and will definitely come back for future celebrations.

This restaurant is located in a beautiful neighborhood. We found street parking easily. We only planned to have the tapas menu. We enjoyed the octopus (although it was a little salty), the yellowtail, eggplant and the jamón tostas. The Simple Gifts salad was ok only. Service from the host was warm and friendly but our server seemed aloof, especially after we turned down his recommendation of a $150 bottle of wine.
