Update to Mark:Hi, Mark. Thanks for your response, although some of it is insinuating that I'm making it up. I am not. I was there with a group of 8 on the day of my review. It was NOT busy during lunch on that Wednesday. There was us and another family (who spilled a cup and ice was everywhere, which took way too long (over 15 minutes) to clean up.) I appreciate you responding and wanting to get to the bottom of this, but your assuredness that it couldn't have been that day is also a poor reflection of business etiquette. I do not leave baseless reviews. Find out all the details before you start defending your business.

We don't come here often because it is a bit out of our way, but we really enjoy the food. The sushi here is excellent, but we haven't been eating much sushi lately so we have tried many of the entrees and they have always been great. Last night my wife split Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef with me, and both were great. My daughter had a bowl of Pho and she said the beef was her favorite anywhere. My son liked the calamari. My kids also ordered the homeade ginger ale with cranberry and it was delicious. My son asked me multiple times why the place was so fancy. It is nice. Lots of black and red with neat decorations. Our server last night was Ajay and he did a fantastic job. Very friendly and helpful and everything came out correct. Highly recommended.

This restaurant has been a classic for years. They know how to always deliver great tasting food. The menu could use some modernization but what they have is high quality. I have been to the bar and the restaurant, friendly staff and nice drinks. Enjoy a relaxing night (or happy hour). Not amazing like city food ... but it is good enough for the local area... the staff is nice and the restaurant is wonderfully clean.

If you can't tell already by the photos, this place is always in my rotation lol I have celebrated many birthdays, and holidays here. Was able to rent a private room for a party of 12 as well. It's beautifully decorated and many food options for anyone's diet. My top favorites would have to be the pad Thai and Thai red curry. Steak as my protein choice across the board. It's always tender. Most of my meals end with the banana fritter. Fried crispy banana drizzled in caramel sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Dusted with cinnamon sugar to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you get the chance, ask for Ajay as your server! If it's your first time here, definitely request him! He will suggest you great drinks and narrow the menu down if you feel overwhelmed by it. Bonus, you can avoid the awkward question if he will take a picture of the family together. He's already on it! He's your whole package for an enjoyable dine out experience. They also have happy hour. Monday thru Friday 4pm to 6pm and Friday & Saturday 9pm to 10pmBar & Patio only Check in for 10% off :)

For me a somewhat mixed experience which I'll explain more in depth, but still recommended overall. The restaurant has awesome decor where you're greeted by the status of a giant Buddha and very cool enormous decorations along the walls. The impressive design continues into the private rooms and even the restroom area, where you definitely feel like you're in a upscale business where you can also casually lounge around. The service is also friendly with knowledgeable staff that serve drinks quickly and can provide menu recommendations. Parking isn't too difficult most of the time here as the Arboretum has plenty of parking spots and this is conveniently located in the corner spot, easily accessible from many different directions. Prices are reasonable and in line with other similar restaurants in the area like Big Bowl or PF Changs. The food is fairly solid here, though there were are some things that prevent a full endorsement. The food took a considerable amount of time to be served on a weekday evening, probably over 30 minutes. This may be due to trying to fulfill takeout orders as well, though the dining room was not too full. With that said however, I liked the presentation overall on the different items I had, in particular the colorful sushi and pad thai. The meat/seafood portions were quite generous overall in the sushi, pad thai, sweet&spicy steak, and pho that the party ordered and the quality of the meat was quite good as well. The flavors overall were a little mild for Asian cuisine, though this is probably to be a bit more approachable for the Western palate, as nothing was overly spicy with familiar flavors and textures that were a bit more on the firmer side. Portion sizes were also quite large, with items that could be easily split into two meals.Overall, a fun place to hangout and enjoy an Asian inspired meal with cuisine that's a bit more elevated at reasonable prices.

My husband and I met some friends for dinner at Wok n Fire. This is a great spot for food and drinks. There is a large eating area inside and outside as well as space by the bar. I love the Buddha and other Asian decorations throughout the restaurant. Once we arrived, we were greeted quickly by our server. We ordered some drinks while we looked at the menu. I ordered the Vietnamese Pho Bowl, and my husband ordered the shrimp pad Thai and the sushi sampler. The pho was good, but it was missing the fragrant basil that I'm used to. It hit the spot because I hadn't had it in a while. The pad Thai was good and I enjoyed the sauce it was in. Both the pho and pad Thai had very generous amounts of meat in them. The fish in the sushi was cut very thick. Everything was very fresh. The only complaint I had was that the ticket time was unacceptably high. It took about thirty minutes to get our food once we ordered. There was a long line at the door waiting for online orders. I checked in on the Yelp app. There was a check-in bonus offered by the restaurant of 10% of the bill. Thanks, Yelp. I highly recommend Wok N Fire for great food. Just be prepared to wait for it.

I have visited twice now and sat in the bar both times. The happy hour specials are the way to go. The sushi isn't the best I have ever had but the bartenders make great drinks and it's a nice place for a date or friends to meet up.

Crab rangoon were filled with cream cheese, but didn't really have a lot of crab meat. Pad thai with tofu was delicious and it was a large portion. Took half of it home. Dessert was my favorite and definitely recommend the banana fritter. They were crispy sugary bananas with ice cream and just melted in your mouth.

I absolutely love sushi. I would say it is one of my favorite foods to eat for sure. I had heard from a family member that I should go try this next location because they have great sushi and a price that is not that bad.My next dining experience was at Wok N Fire in South Barrington.I went with my wife around dinner time. This was close to 5:30 PM.I absolutely love this area of the Arboretum of South Barrington. This area plays live music on the weekends and some Friday nights. All of this, of course, is weather permitting.I was nervous arriving at such a late time on a Friday evening, due to the fact that I thought the restaurant would be very busy with no seating.I was shocked when I arrived and noticed that there were only a handful of tables with patrons. There were many servers attending to tables, probably at least six or seven.I was greeted by our server who seemed friendly enough. I ordered a Pepsi and water and my wife ordered the same. The drinks came out quite fast. I put in an order for crab Rangoons and also an order of their appetizer specialty called a Tuna Poké tower. This is where the breakdown started to happen. I sat with my wife for an extremely long time with no sight of our server.I noticed a crab Rangoon appetizer dish going to another table that had been seated after us.The wait seemed to be about 20 minutes before I had seen our server. She was on her phone typing a text message near the kitchen. She then came up to our table and said she was very sorry, but our dish of crab Rangoons was given to another table by accident. She then asked if we would like to put in our main orders for sushi.I ordered one of their specialty rolls called the Black Widow. It had garlic, black rice, and tuna.I also ordered a spicy tuna roll and my wife ordered a California roll and a Vegas roll that was deep fried tempura style sushi. We still waited for our crab Rangoons for another 10 minutes before it finally arrived at the table. They were nothing special. They tasted like something you could get at Trader Joe's. They also cost $17.The biggest rip off was the tuna pokey tower. It was three extremely small torta's with a handful of raw tuna. This dish was just under $20. I would say it was definitely not worth the price and did not taste very fresh. The sushi rolls came out two minutes later. My wife asked beforehand if the rolls that she ordered were spicy. She cannot tolerate spicy foods and also did not state that it was spicy on the menu. Her sushi roll was covered in a red hot sauce that she needed to scrape off in order to eat the sushi roll. The spicy tuna roll that I ordered tasted like something that would come from a grocery store. It was very mediocre. The only roll that was fantastic was the Black Widow with the black rice. I thoroughly enjoyed this sushi roll. This entire meal cost well over $100. I would say it was definitely not worth the price. The service was extremely lackluster. There was no reason that we should have waited so long. There were not many tables in the restaurant. There was a massive abundance of servers and wait staff.I give my experience at Wok N Fire a rating of 3 out of 10.I will definitely not be returning. This may have just been this particular location. I felt that the food was not up to par, the service was very bad, and the food was not good.
