We had to fly but wanted to check out the Gulch on our last day. I had my husband pick out a lunch spot, of course we wanted to try their sushi. This place was really yummy to our surprise it's tucked in the Gulch in downtown Nashville near the art district. It was a quiet Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant is super clean. We got lucky because it started raining soon after we sat down. The server seated us right away, cus again it wasn't very busy and she was very nice and gave us some suggestions. The chef is super creative, maybe because it's a restaurant in the art district, definitely a nice touch on the special rolls. We had Caviar on the top of one of the rolls and another was garnished with strawberries, shredded coconut and kiwis. It was delicious AND 20% off!

So this review is for 2 different visits over 2 days, one for dinner and one for lunch. For dinner, I would rate it 4 and for lunch, I would rate it a 3. We stayed at the JWMarriott and wanted to support a small local business. This was about a 5 min walk in a renovated industrial or train depot - a reimagined space in urban center. For dinner, we ordered a rainbow roll and udon. The roll was fresh and done well. The nabeyaki tasted a little bit off, but still yummy. Off in the sense that it wasn't traditional nabeyaki soup... but not bad. Service was attentive and waitress was nice. For lunch the next day... The teriyaki didn't quite hit the mark. It was very saucey and presentation was not what traditional chicken teriyaki looks like. The taste was fine but the chicken was dry. And strangely, they brought out hot water in cold water cups when the evening before, I had tea and hot water in hot water cups. Service was fine otherwise.

Service was very friendly and informative. It was quiet and has a nice view of the Westin and Marriot towers nearby. The Sashimi and Nigiri was pretty good. The special rolls I had were good too. Pretty standard menu for the most part. Special rolls are around $18 for 10 pieces, the 6-8 piece rolls are $5-8.

The sushi is a great quality, the serving staff was so friendly and had great recommendations. The ambiance is very inviting and feels clean. I definitely recommend the house special sashimi platter.

Once again Wild Wasabi delivers. Delicious food, quick service and great ambiance. Parking is paid out front if you can snag a spot, and costs about $3 for an hour.

Great ambiance and location. Staff is very nice. Best miso soup I've had in a long time, but the ginger salad dressing is not my favorite. Makes me sad, actually. Ginger salad is one of my favorite things at a Japanese restaurant. I eat everyone else's if they don't eat it. This dressing is too onion forward. It was a letdown. The tempura needs to be salted when it comes out of the fryer. Salt brings out the flavor. Good, but better once I salted it. Their tempura sauce is good. I got some sweet n sour sauce as well, but I don't like theirs. Too pepper forward. I admire that they seem to make their own sauces. I just don't love them, and i recognize my dislike of onions and peppers comes into play here. We grabbed sushi and fried rice from here last night too. Sushi was decent. Fried rice was excellent.

Pros:Great downtown location and easy to walk to from most nearby hotelsVaried sushi options - so many specialty rollsLarge dining areaFast serviceCons:Shrimp tempura roll had too much panko so I couldn't taste anything. Had to leave most of the roll uneaten :(Salmon lacked any flavorSurf clam also lacked flavor and wasn't very freshPro tip:They did the CA roll and miso soup week. Maybe stick with the cooked rolls. Lots of Japanese beer options too.

I saw this place and saw it had 3.9 stars and was wanting to try their lunch special. I wasn't sure what to expect but I am so pleasantly satisfied! I don't know what it got a bad rep but please give it a try for yourself. It was great sushi! I always judge a place on the freshness of the salmon and it was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Ambiance was pleasant, relaxing and clean. The lunch special is 20% off and it was amazing! I'll definitely be back.
