Loved this park! Definitely will be back again. Great Lake views from our site. We did get a thunderstorm that came out of nowhere and the wind was pretty intense but cleared up fast.

This is an amazing place to camp and play in the water. Get up early for some sunrise pictures, take a dive in the lake, and go jet-skiing/paddle-boarding in the water. We ran into some fun campers. There is a bathhouse with warm water. Take note that some sites don't have sewage hookups! We also drove 15min to Rocktown Trail. It's a 2.5mi loop. I won't spoil it but the view is screensaver-worthy.

e stayed the night at campsite 76 in Big Bluestem Campground. It was a "Prime" site on the water. We got to enjoy people fishing and a gorgeous sunset. We did wake up to quite a wind storm, but all was well. The bath house looked well kept and there is a little trail to enjoy.

Love this lake! Clear and so pleasant to bring the family. We've been camping, hiking and kayaking here and love it. Some complain bc of the wind but it's Kansas! We'll take it over any others any day

Wilson state park is locate right on lake Wilson, the showers are free but not very clean like many camp showers. Stayed 2 nights in an undesignated spot since most of the park was either full or reserved but still plenty of spots when you arrive at 6pm. They have a self check in if you arrive when the office is closed and you'll have to check in again by 2 pm the next day with the office if you do so. Parking fee $5, but they have swimming areas and loads of MTB trails.

Wilson Lake is the best place to camp in the entire state of Kansas. It's beautiful, relaxing, and never over packed the times I have gone. I have been twice and each time I have been able to camp close to the camp site bathrooms along with showers (both super clean). Along with lake entrance right next to the camp site. We take the Kayak, speed boat, fishing poles, bikes, and lots of other fun! The bike routes are AMAZING! It honestly is my favorite part of Wilson Lake. We biked about 10 miles with our bikes and parts can be scary and difficult but it is so much fun! If I could live on this lake I would. It is the clearest lake in Kansas and beautiful! You can hike some places and swim in a quiet spot secluded from everyone. Make sure if you are going to get on these bike trails you have a helmet and lots of water (3 L Water pack is ideal). There is a great convenience store at the lake you can go and buy the random things you need for camping or forget at home. From toothbrushes, firewood, fishing license, fishing bait, coffee, food, snacks, ice ice ice, etc. Check this lake out, it's the best you can find and still close to home.

Wilson State Park is one of Kansas's crown jewels. Located at the US Army Corps of Engineers Wilson Lake this is a great place to camp and enjoy all the fun that the lake offers. It's easy to get to off I-70 even if you're pulling a trailer. Camp sites include everything from primitive to paved spots with water and electric hookups. The shower facilities here are not the Taj Mahal, but they are definitely a cut above what I've found in other state parks. The main reason I like Wilson State Park is the view. Where we like to camp sits up above the lake a bit, offering a great view of the main part of the lake. Trails lead down to the water and while you'll need some bug spray when walking through the tall grass, once you get to the water you forget all about that. The water in this lake is very clear, more so than many other lakes I've been to. This is just a great place to camp, there's no other way to put it. I like the showers, I like the camp spots, and I like the staff that works here. They've treated us good and never had an attitude. Naturally, 4 Stars! The only thing that can ruin your time here is a strong thunderstorm, but if you're into those kinds of things then you can get one of the best seats in Kansas to catch some storm action. So even that can be a good thing!
