Welcome Home Cafe

The chicken fried steak is absolutely amazing! Comes with a salad bar and (for me) home cut fries. The iced tea was delicious and everyone was friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to stop and eat!

We were passing through Colby on the way to Colorado. Not a ton of options for dining in this small farming town but found Welcome Home Cafe to be fine on food and service. I would not say it has ambiance unless you are looking for a place you could take the whole family with small children without getting stares. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak for which the cafe is known. He tells me it was good, he cleaned his plate, but not the best he has ever eaten. I got the hamburger steak and thought it was pretty tasty. Both meals came with corn and mashed potatoes. Choices of white or brown gravy which I got on the side. There is a salad bar with standard variety of items. Server was friendly and food came out quickly. Many menu items were crossed out however there were still several sandwiches, burgers and entrees to pick from. I'm a little baffled by diners who would give it 5 stars but maybe they are comparing it to other choices in Colby.

So we were driving from CA to Bowling Green and on this particular day while in Kansas, we hadn't had breakfast before we left our hotel. In searching online I found Welcome Home Cafe in Colby. When we arrived at the address, it sure didn't look like a restaurant. The hubby wasn't sure, but I wanted to go inside. It was like a little country cafe and everyone was so nice. It looked like a place where local people go. We both ordered our meals and they were so good! I had the Sunday special and they hubby had a burger. Prices were very reasonable.

On our way home from Colorado to oklahoma we found a cute cafe to stop and eat lunch! The chicken fried steak was delicious.

Stopped here on our way from Ohio to Colorado Springs based on reviews. Definitely not disappointed...Food and service were excellent--. We had the country fried steak and chicken salad sandwich. French fries were fresh cut.

Bison Burger was great. Very friendly staff. Due to travel issues we were an hour late meeting relatives there. Staff were friendly to them the whole time. And.... You've gotta try the chocolate chip cookies!!!

A small hole-in-the-wall place, clean, with friendly staff. Nothing much to look at from the outside - or inside...but the food was fresh (salad bar), and hot (meals). Good flavor to the mushroom Swiss burger and fries. Husband liked the chicken fried steak - said the piece of meat was typical for this dish, but the coating was great! Surprise was the free chocolate chip cookies for dessert. My husband loves small mom & pop restaurants (I generally don't) but this one was better than I expected. Worth a try....and the prices were good.

Nice lunch or dinner stop between Denver, CO and Enid, OK. Put the Tesla on the charger across the street and went for Lunch. Food is good and so is the Salad bar (although limited). Plate lunches are generous, and all meals are served with a warm cookie for dessert.

I've been a truck driver many years and whenever got to the area would park at the truckstop next door. I usually walked across the street to the Village Inn but unfortunately they're no longer open. So then I would go to the restaurant inside the hotel next door. But this time decided to go ahead and check this place out. Well the Chicken Fried Steak was just OK. The roll was good. The corn was good. But the mashed potatoes were on the cool side. I don't know, I think I'll just stick with the restaurant in the hotel.

Great little small cafe. Staff was very efficient and the food was delivered quickly. I got the chicken fried steak diner that came with a trip through their salad bar. Others ordered sandwiches. The fries were hand cut and everything was delicious. We were all surprised with warm chocolate chip cookies that came out with the bill. A great place to eat.
