It is awesome to have a new restaurant in the union that is open every day (the other JP's is closed on Mondays) and open later in the evenings (most options in the union close at 7 PM). The ambiance is fantastic with the basketball scoreboard outside of the restaurant, with tons of TVs everywhere, a spacious bar, lots of high-top tables, and a dining area in the back. It is really large and clean. The purple is tasteful and fun, and there is memorabilia on the walls. There are lots of drink and beer specials including beer flights, but it was lunch and we stuck with water today. Our friend and my husband. both ordered the BBQ platter with two meats, baked beans, jicama slaw, and cornbread with chile-lime butter. My husband got ribs and chicken thighs, and our friend. got ribs and pulled pork. There are three BBQ sauces: the house, jalapeno blueberry, and Carolina. My other friend got the Willie Cristo, and I got the ahi tuna poke appetizer as my meal. Our food looked good, but the BBQ platters came sans sauce, so our friend had to chase our server down for the sauces. I tried them all. The house and jalapeno blueberry were very sweet, and the Carolina was very pickle-y. I am a native Texan so perhaps a bit snobby about BBQ. My husband's butter was hard and not very spreadable on his cornbread, and he got a chicken breast, not a thigh (which was not even a menu option). Our server never came back to check on us so our water carafe ran out and he did not get to ask initially about the wrong chicken part on his plate. My friend said her Willie Cristo was good but a bit sweet, and her side of roasted root veggies were really good (though the server was not sure if she was getting all of them or had to pick one?!) - my poke dish was plenty of food considering it was an app, but it was not really as described. It was supposed to be "soy glazed tuna" with mango and wonton. Instead, I got a pile of wonton crisps like it was a nachos set up, topped with chopped tuna (not glazed), cucumber, red bell pepper, and mango with spicy mayo and eel sauce drizzled on it. It was fresh and tasty, but definitely not poke. Perhaps it should have been described as tuna wonton "nachos" the way Bobby Flay describes his at Mesa Grill? Nevertheless, I enjoyed the mango and cucumber, and it was more than enough for an entree. Our server came back and we asked for water and about my husband's chicken thigh. She took the carafe, and another person replaced it. She came back and said, "Oh, someone replaced it?" and we asked about the chicken. She said, "I was trying to be fast and deal with the water first" but obviously someone else was faster. She then brought the manager over. The manager said that we are right, chicken breasts are not an option on the platter, but they are used for the pulled chicken so the kitchen put the wrong cut of chicken on the plate. She brought a BBQ chicken thigh back in a to-go box for us to take home, which was appreciated.Just like the other JP's, tips are not accepted. This place is a great addition but likely since it has only been open just over a week, the staff probably needs more practice both in the kitchen and the front of the house. The manager did make it right though for the dark meat chicken eater. The views of TVs from our booth were great so we could watch basketball, and the atmosphere is fun. It would be a nice place to stop to watch sports or grab a beer, so I will give it another chance.

A great addition to a wonderful campus! This was my first time visiting Kansas State University in a couple of colleagues suggested that we try Union Station by JP's. It was really nice, the atmosphere was lively and the food was great.I would recommend starting with the doughnut holes. Who says you can't have dessert first? The nachos are massive as are the salads. The service was a little slow, but we ordered quickly and we're still on time for all of our meetings.I can see why this is such a popular place and I'm looking forward to my next visit during my next trip to "the little Big Apple".

My sister got free tickets for there Easter brunch. Otherwise I don't think we would have gone the food quality doesn't match up to the actually prices which are high. While it was free the food was okay and good but not amazing defiantly wouldn't be worth the price to pay. Then on top of it we actually waited ten minutes before waving down a server to say we haven't been helped they seemed surprise and sorry it had been so long. Just didn't seem like there was a system for there servers. Even though it's convenient on campus I not worth the price for the food we got. Maybe I'll try again sometime eating there normal food but as of now I'll stick to other places.

Every time I have eaten at JP's the food has been excellent. I have tried their pizzas, appetizers, and burgers, and everything was good. The BBQ pizza is fantastic. They also have a decent drink list and a variety of beers on tap.I have never had a bad experience with the wait staff. They have always been friendly and readily available. It's usually less busy for dinner than a restaurant in Aggieville. They also host a trivia night every Tuesday at 7:00 and give away JP's gift cards to whoever places first, second, or third.

I came to JP's in the union for the first time tonight and I was highly disappointed. To start off, the servers can not accept tips and this is quite obvious in their inattentiveness. The service is not fast so except to wait a long time regardless of them not being busy. I ordered the poke bowl which is usually a favorite meal of mine and I had seen another reviewer post a photo of theirs and it looked really good! However, mine came with at least 2 full cups of guacamole on top of it making it nearly inedible. I pointed it out to our waitress and she did not have much to say and just asked if we were ready for the check. It had made it clear that the dish was not edible by telling her and by hardly touching it but it made no difference to any of the waiters that stopped by our table.

Nicely styled gastropub in the union with great drink selections. Extremely slow service when we were there over the lunch hour. My wife had to box her food to run to her next meeting. Every step was slow from seating to ordering and receiving food. I had the Wefald burger, which was above average. The fries are ingenious and quite good. Food: good. Whole experience: not so much.

I absolutely hate to have to rate Union JP's this low but Wednesday before the Volleyball game we went for supper! We've always had good food...until Wednesday evening! We both ordered Burgers! Toppings were great as usual but one bite was all it took to tell this burger had been totally cremated, not just one but both of our burgers! Now I still ate mine because it was not crispy all the way through the middle, but before I finished I called the server over and we both showed her our black crispy burgers!!! She agreed! I asked, "Is this the cook's first day on the grill?" She said, "Actually it is!" I said, "oh my! Don't think he should be cooking without more training!" She checked with her boss and they did comp both our burgers! Thank you very much! The other surprise disappointment was the Smashed Purple potatoes! I've made smashed potatoes before and they were wonderful! These tasted like a boiled potato, smashed with a potato masher, sprinkled with seasoned salt and served up in a bowl! I ended up putting the grilled onions which fell out of my burger on them which at least gave them some flavor! That's only half the Smashed potato process! You have to put those boiled potatoes on a baking sheet, smash 'em and then drizzle with olive oil or melted butter, sprinkle with the seasonal bag and/or garlic and roast til they are lightly crispy and golden brown! Top with a little cheese hot out of the oven, (Parm, cheddar, blue, gruyere what ever floats your tater taste) and you've got smashed potatoes worth eating! I didn't say anything to our server about those pitiful taters because she'd already comped all but our wine and margarita! But really folks! If this a learning place for future Resturanteurs, then let's do it right! I'll be back cuz your poutine is to die for but let's tweak some of this other stuff! Message me! I've got more ideas for improvements!!! Especially about those Call Hall ice cream sandwiches! Great idea, lousy execution! Have any of you eaten a solidly frozen Giant thick chocolate chip cookie? Add hard frozen ice cream in between 2 of those hard honkers and Yikes! Not pretty or tasty! We actually stopped back in for dessert after the game and that's what we got! I imagined a fresh made slightly warmed soft pair of cookies with a freshly scooped ball of Call Hall Ice cream gently melting between the warm cookies! At least a Utensil would work to eat it under those conditions! Presented as it was, hard as a rock frozen, my neatly wrapped in the pretty purple cloth napkin knife and fork were of no use!!!Well that's why you only got one star and seriously, if I could of reviewed with zero stars, I would have! Please! Don't change one ounce of the poutine! I'll order that next time! Best thing on your menu! Scrumptious! 5 star worthy!

Good food, great drinks. If I could only eat at one place for the rest of my life I would pick Jp's Gastropub, absolutely electric atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend.
