Small town bar. I was in for a late lunch. With the prices, I almost ordered a double cheeseburger. I am glad I didn't. I could barely finish the single. I would pass on the homemade potato chips. They didn't taste fresh. I would go ahead and upgrade to French fries. Being from out of town, the staff was extremely friendly and checked on me often. I would definitely go back!

This is more of a family restaurant than a bar and Grill is the name indicates. The food is very good and good service. Fresh, homemade desserts, and daily specials.

I was driving by Garnett, KS with some friends and after reading Yelp reviews our group of seven decided to stop by Trade Winds for dinner and a beer. From the moment we opened the worn aluminum door with vinyl press-on lettering, it was a weird and awkward situation. The only thing that could have made it more uncomfortable was if a needle scratched across a record as the music stopped, a fork crashed loudly on a plate in the stark silence and someone in the back muttered "what the hail...". The music didn't literally stop but as we walked past each table, we were side eyed by each of the locals. I was dressed in blue jeans, t-shirt, hoodie and Carhartt cap. Was anyone in my group acting strangely? No. Was I over or under dressed? No. Was my zipper down? No. As I looked across the room, suspicious glances from under John Deere and Chevy caps were directed my way. Women in coiffed hair glanced then quickly looked at their plate of bar food. What was the issue? I don't know. There were two large empty tables. I sat down at one as someone from my group went to the bar to ask for menus. She stood there for about 10 minutes before someone spoke to her. The empty tables were reserved...apparently. And they won't be available. Yeah, we get it.We left.We consulted Yelp once again and saw that El Jimador was right down the street. We were quickly greeted, led to a table and had a great Mexican dinner prepared and served by the friendly staff. Avoid Trade Winds Bar & Grill. I don't know about the food but we got big servings of attitude.

Food was good as usual. Came to Garnett in December of 2019 when I first moved into town, was well waitressed then. Now some young blonde girl works there and she was terrible. Came in with a friend today and we wait 15 minutes for her to come over and ask us what we wanted to drink. Waited another 10 minutes for that. She then walked out with some friend who came in, she apparently had to go to her car with her friend. Waited almost 30 minutes for her to come back and ask for our orders. She was eating behind the bar and acting like she didn't know what she was doing. Finally another 15-20 minute wait our food got to us. Needs better wait staff.

It's a nice looking bar with interesting decor. In the front is a big rear-projection TV that doesn't look like it's used. In the far back is a back room with pool tables. There's also a CD jukebox, an old Silver Strike machine, and a cool angular tabletop MegaTouch machine.Even though it was getting late on this Saturday, the bar crowd skewed towards the silver set. This looks like a good bar, unfortunately the conversations at a table behind us got so obnoxious that we couldn't enjoy it and had to hurry ourselves so we could leave.

Since it has came under new ownership the bar has taken off. Great food for a great price. Best place in town.

Went here on one of my two nights in Garnett. Got the grilled chicken breast. It did the trick for a high-protein dinner, but was bland. Some salt and pepper, and that's about it. Serving size was large, though. Overall, preferable to a small-but-flavorful serving after a long day outside, but go in with that expectation.Service was quick although it was past the main dinner rush. Not sure if that's always the case; at one point the waitstaff mentioned, "he's finally making burgers" - presumably the cook - so it may be hit or miss. At one point the likely-proprietor came by and asked if my food was done well, and then asked again to confirm. A bit odd, it was almost like she was a bit surprised it was done properly and not overcooked. So perhaps the cook isn't the most reliable cook in the world, but he got my order right. The ambiance was about what I'd expect from a small-town general purpose restaurant. Adequate accommodations, nothing fancy, replays of Duke beating Clemson on TV.Would consider going back on a future trip through Garnett, but wouldn't be particularly excited to either.

It's hit or miss. I was in town for a travel contract and had really good meals and not so good meals. Tonight my cheeseburger was literally crunchy and over cooked. Last time my curly fries weren't edible from being over cooked. Sometimes the wait staff is amazing, tonight I ate my whole meal in 45 minutes and sat with an empty drink for 40 minutes. I'd say they're generally a little understaffed, but who isn't in this world.
