#55/2024Wow I haven't been across this US highway coming out of Newton Kansas in a long long time. Usually I get as far as emporia that's the first time I've dropped down to Wichita too This place has been here for loads of years it is still a classic roadside diner vibe off of the bypass. The lady that owns in her family also work here they do a really good job of keeping everything up for what they have. It's like walking in the Easter year though it probably hasn't been remodeled since they took it over I don't think it's actually been remodeled since the late 80s but that's all right. When you walk in you're very feel welcomed you're welcome sit wherever you want they have two different dining room areas. I came in with a rumbling stomach that was just starting to growl and I was ready for some good old home cooking. So I ordered up a nice good cuz I knew they made a nice hand patted chicken fried steak. I had to taste for french fries and gravy brown gravy on the whole shebang. She also made me a nice fresh salad with lettuce tomato cucumber and cheese was very good too before the meal. They were having some water issues a boil order wasn't effect so there wasn't any soda available on the day I was there that afternoon and they did make cawfee though so I had that. Problem was the iced tea wasn't iced tea it was just hot tea they put it into the cooler they had just started making it. .She brought out the salad it was really nice quite filling. And the chicken fried steak dinner came out it was fantastic they gave me some extra fries I think I didn't ask for it but they were definitely quite a few fries to brown gravy was nice and hot. I left with a very happy bellyThat's one of the things I miss about that way a lot of times when I used to go out to places West California Arizona we're coming through Kansas I would avoid that Kansas turnpike and work my way across all the way to Hutchinson. And I used to like to stop in here because there is plenty of parking for trucks it's a dirt lot but that doesn't really matter it's just classic little small town in the middle of nowhere farmland. They also take major credit cards no problem.But it definitely was nice to see and I definitely enjoyed my meal and I'm rating the full five bar of stars all the way across like many other people who review here on Yelp basically realize you can't judge a book by its cover. They're very pleasantly surprised when you read their reviews also.

Middle of nowhere Kansas and this was a great stop. Very kind and friendly staff :D (There was only one wonderful lady working the whole place). Simple and good food. The prices were perfect. Great place to stop along the backroads on our trip home.

Nice place. Easy off the road. Good food. Fast service. Just reopened from covid19. Stop. Enjoy the coffee.

Wow what a neat place. Reminds when I was a kid. I had a double cheese burger and it was perfect. The staff was fast and friendly . I am a truck driver and have been coming thru here for years. First time I stoped. Now i will be a regular. If you have any doubts I would say just do it . Really good food and really good service.

stopped in for breakfast. staff was very friendly. I believe the waitresses were mom and daughter. they worked well together and helped me decide what to order. I ordered a Western omlet. it was a big portion and very good. the cook was also very friendly and thanked me for coming in. I wish I knew her name but she had short blonde hair.

We stopped for lunch on a long road trip. This place is road trip perfection. I had the BLT, Mom had the cheeseburger, and we shared a gooseberry pie. T&C is worth the stop just for the pie case!

Town and Country is a friendly sit down restaurant and has been in Florence, Ks forever. Breakfast is one of our favorites. Their sausage patty is the best, hands down. The coffee has always been amazing and you can't go wrong with a cheese burger and tater tots. They don't skimp on the tots! Great job T & C!!

Zipping across Kansas on US 50, en route to New Mexico, then Arizona, we arrived at Florence about mid-day. The Town & Country was conveniently set just off the highway on the west side of town. This was all new terrain for both of us, so we had no real expectations.This is straight ahead American home cooking, unadorned and perfectly executed. One of us opted for breakfast fare (two eggs over easy, hashed browns and bacon. I had liver and onions (rare enough to stumble across but a long time favorite) with a salad and hashed browns.The hashed browns were just right, crispy enough and almost creamy inside. Bacon? Four strips of crisp slab-cut. My dish had beautifully carmelized onions on two slices of medium rare calves liver that was just crisped on the edges, tender as could be.Prices simply can't be beat, either. It's obviously a local go-to spot, with friendly staff and customers.It's the kind of place that makes a road trip fun!
