I've volunteered much of my time over the last six years to this theatre, and I gained so much from it. They provide the Northeast Kansas community opportunities to experience things outside the exposure of their day-to-day lives through some of the most brilliant stage-productions I've ever seen! There is always SOMETHING going on at TCT, and it's bound to be spectacular! The theatre's president/CEO (Vickie Brokke) & the artistic director (Shannon Reilly) both sink their hearts into this place, its productions, and (most importantly) its people. They are lucky to have the volunteers that they do, and they are well aware of that...but, in truth, many of the volunteers are lucky to have the theatre to call 'home', myself included. Thank you, Topeka Civic Theatre!

Wow! We don't get to attend the civic theater very often because of finances. But every time we have, I am just amazed. Top notch talent, music and stage work each time! So much so that I am always surprised it has managed to survive in Topeka, a typical midwest town not exactly known for supporting the arts. Last thing we saw was "Mary Poppins" and it was marvelous!

My wife and I saw "The 39 Steps" on a Saturday night while we were in town. The main stage show was in a dinner theater (though you don't have to eat dinner) and tickets were $25 each. There is a smaller stage for other shows and it appears there are one or two things going on throughout the season most nights. The admission varies depending on the show. The production we saw was excellent. My wife and I chuckled pretty much non-stop and we had one of the most enjoyable evenings ever. We arrived as everyone was finishing dinner and I must say the food looked and smelled exceptional. If we were to go again, I'd be more than comfortable paying the $18 for a meal. The atmosphere was truly fun. We sat with a couple who attended regularly and it seemed as though everyone we chatted with was a frequent attender. Everyone was laughing and chatting and having a good time before the show and every staff member from the box office to our waiter seemed to really enjoy being there as well. We ordered a drink before the show which was incredibly reasonably priced and the dessert served during the intermission was also reasonable and tasty. I believe two drinks, two desserts, and tip amounted to $25 or $30 and I tipped pretty generously as our waiter was exceptional (helpful and pleasant). I believe we'd be regular attenders if we lived in Topeka and wish there was such a reasonably priced gem here in KC (our local theatre is a lot more artsy and lot more expensive). This place was just fun.
