Very inviting and rustic! Just how we like it!
Pool table you will need quarters for and, oh hey, bring the kids they have a high chair.
The kitchen ...
The bar area with a TV that might work.
Just a plain cheeseburger with cheese fries.
The menu.
Here's what you'll pull up to.
That's what you call a ponyshoe -- hamburger covered with cheese fries.
My parents celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary here.
Oh look, the dog is just outside the kitchen.

Cool small town restaurant where the town's population doubles on a Friday night. Portions are large, but don't be in a hurry. I had the t-bone steak dinner and thought it was very good.

My parents suggested The Sundowner for their 26th wedding anniversary, pretty swanky, right? They hadn't been yet, but my dad's co-workers kept mentioning it. We decided, why not give it a try. It's located right as you drive into the tiny town of Speed, which hosted a HotWheels event years ago. Fun bonus fact. The dining establishment is back in a house basically, but first you walk through the carport "kitchen." If I was anywhere else, I would probably be more afraid, but my parents knew everyone and the people use to cook at a place in nearby Glade. Upon receiving a menu, I remarked how it looked exactly like the Triple C in Glade. I went with cheese fries while the other members of my party went with the ponyshoe, which is a hamburger covered with cheese fries. Personally, I was disappointed with the cheese. It wasn't thick nacho cheese like I was thinking. It was more like Kraft mac 'n cheese sauce. Pretty not good on fries that I described as tough. The burger was a good one straight from the grill, so it's a solid options. The decor is well, nonexistent. The service is just local people waiting on you that you probably know. Seating is limited and as a last resort you could go seat in some booths out by the grill. We went at a slower time, so they weren't real busy. That being said, it still took a while to get our food. The plus of all this, it's cheap and you pretty much know what you are getting. No real surprises. Would I go again? If it was my choice, no. If someone wanted to, sure. I'd just stick with a burger and a can of soda though.

Good food, large portions and low prices. It is a 3.2 beer bar and grill but the quality food makes it worth a visit.

The setup of the restaurant is kind of strange if you haven't been there before. But food was good, though it did take a while to get to us. Pop is in a can, pretty basic service. They're only open a few hours each day. Laid back and what you'd expect for small town ks. Overall, good food and will come back.

This place is like a second home where everyone treats you like you're family. If you're looking for a 5 star meal with candles and live music this isn't the place for you. We live in a farming community and are very casual and cozy. Cheap food with big portions is how we do it here.
