The Shack Bar & Grill

Kids these days tend to say their favorite burger is from Five Guys or Culver's or In-N-Out; boring chain choice for boring people. I've been living less than 5 minutes from the shack my whole life, and yet I shamefully didn't discover it until a few years ago.It doesn't matter how long it's been since I last was in there, the wonderful waitress always brings me and my dad our regular drinks, and we always order the same thing, a burger and fries.The burger is thick, but not too thick. The ketchup and mustard are normal. The veggies are exactly what you'd want - onion, pickles and a piece of lettuce. It's always cooked perfectly, and it's always juicy and tasty. I don't want to overhype it for anyone who wishes to challenge my claim, but the Shack has my favorite burger of any restaurant, and I don't see that changing.They also have good bar food too, and a pool table. A great place to meet childhood friends or a family member or two.

Food is good a lot bigger portions when you eat there than take out for some reason. They are a good little hideaway place to eat

The Shack is the epitome of a dive bar with fantastic food. There is a good reason why it is always packed and it's all because of the quality cheeseburgers and fries they crank out. By far one of the best burgers in Topeka and I would honestly say it's a hidden gem because I feel like not that many people know about this place, which I am totally fine with. If you know this place, then you know just how good it is.

If you want a dark bar with cold beer (a little pricey for a bottle) and delicious greasy bar food, this is your place. Dark & kind of old interior makes me wonder but then I noticed that it does not smell old or musty. It's not smoky or foggy. The older bench seats are still intact and not too saggy. I stayed way too long and enjoyed the burger, fries and onion rings way too much. Great break for me & surprisingly good after not having visited for years. Will be returning soon, with more friends!

Absolutely one of the best hamburgers or cheeseburgers in Topeka‼Great grease! It's a total dive bar with cheap beer and great food. If you are around Lake Shawnee, do not overlook this place. It's kind of tucked away from 29th Street with a long gravel driveway. Don't miss it.

This place is tucked back in and hard to find unless you are looking for it. It is however a spot for all the locals. If you want to know wjat it is like to go back on time 20 years and have good food and meet good people. This is your spot.

Food is absolutely delicious!! Great places to hang out with friends and watch sports! The Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich was amazing! The staff was very friendly and the service was great! Definitely recommend.
