The Phonecian may or may not do good work. I can only attest to the fact that their customer service skills are greatly lacking, as the previous reviewer also indicated. After first being unable to make an appointment and being told that I would be getting a call right away from Ashley who does nails and then never being contacted by her, I was finally able to make an appointment for a mani/pedi. My appointment was scheduled for 4pm. Shortly before my appointment I recieved a call from the Phoenician. Ashley was running a tad behind and she would be able to get me in right at 4:20. Okay. Things happen. I appreciated the call. At 4:20, I am told that Ashley is just about done with her current customer and it will be "just a couple minutes." At around 5:10, I saw no signs of anyone coming to start my mani/pedi and decided to leave. Upon my leaving, I recieved absolutley no apology or concern regarding the situation. After making a similar, albeit briefer, version of this review on Facebook I received a response that indicates very little concern on their part. I was told that I should have told them when they called me that this time wouldn't work for me and that they were sorry that being told they were running behind wasn't good enough for me (a tad snarky in my opinion). Never mind the fact that I waited nearly an hour *after* the adjusted 4:20 time; far longer than the "couple minutes" I was informed of when I arrived. I have no way of knowing how long I would have waited had I not left when I did and clearly they are not bothered the least bit by this.

The Phoenician is awful for many reasons. The women that work there are constantly on their phones (even when doing hair!), they gossip like teenagers and are highly unprofessional, and the work they do is of poor quality. Every time I've gotten my hair dyed, the color is never even and furthermore, never lasts more than a few washes. Box dye lasts longer than dye from this salon. Another time, I asked for my eyebrows to be waxed and the lady legimately waxed them off. It took over four months for them to grow back. I will never go back there. Very unfriendly, ingenuine workers.

I have not been to this salon but recently attempted to buy a gift certificate for someone who lives in Hutchinson. When the gift certificate was not received, I contacted the salon and was told that I would have to contact a third party vendor, Instagift.com to investigate why it was not sent. Two weeks and approximately 10 phone calls later, my recipient still has not received what I have been charged for. The owner/manager, Jamie McComb, has refused to speak with me when I've called or return my calls when I've requested to speak with her. The employee whom I've dealt with primarily has offered only to email their vendor on my behalf but not to make the situation right. The last time I called , the employee Carolyn told me that the owner was out of town for two weeks in Europe and no one had the authority to deal with a $50 gift certificate. Maybe this salon is a lovely place, I will never know. My experience is that it is unprofessionally managed and operated and "the customer is always right" is a foreign concept there. What I thought would be a convenient way to send a nice gift has turned into a headache and a very bad taste for this salon. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because there has been NO responsibility taken by this place for this situation, I'm just hoping to eventually get a refund.
