This hotel has beds, shampoo, conditioner & soaps, along with a coffee maker, and a mini fridge. Unfortunately, our room also had many green bugs (not sure exactly what they were.) They were on the AC unit, on the floor and on the restroom. The breakfast consisted of cereal, breads & pastries, cold hard boiled eggs, yoghurt, and a waffle making station. I was hoping for more hot options. The hotel has good parking and seems safe. I would have given it more stars had it not had a dated feel to it, more hot breakfast, and pest control.

Immaculate hotel. Super safe, country club area (view of golf course!) and, yes, the rooms are huge! An especially amazing stay if you have pets. Fantastic free breakfast. Much is newly renovated. Very pleasant friendly staff from phone calls to check in/out. Conveniently located to stores on one side yet a full, nice residential neighborhood on the other side. Peaceful and quiet! Extra bonus: whole facility is non-smoking. Yes!As other reviews stated, yes, some of the hotel is a bit dated. But not much, and so what? It's still immaculate and in good shape. I've never parked in such an incredibly well lit parking lot. And all parking is in the front. It seems the owner is on site 24 hours. Having no clue about the Wichita area we felt so safe. When we woke up and discovered the beautiful area we were in, we were able to take our dogs for a very long, pleasant walk on nice neighborhood streets with grass and trees. You can't get anything for this price even close to how much you're going to receive at this location. Don't even hesitate to book.

Shawnee The front desk clerk really knows how to make guests feel like Family,Welcomed & appreciated for choosing The Mari Gold. She mentioned this as her goal, because in one way or another we are all connected to meet, We each have something to learn from or help each other with in life so it's better to show compassion in our character when we first meet. She is a very wise and respectful woman, helpful towards aiding my elderly aunt to the chair to sit, I feel her being there really made our stay even more enjoyable. You can tell she has a lot of love and respect for her elders. How ever on the other hand the same hospitality was not given by the other staff members. Such as housekeeping who was playing musics that was disruptful and negative with foul language when asked if she could turn it off she had a tone and said she was getting reading to leave in a few seconds. I'm not being to extra picky but it's not how I would want my employees to respond to guest. But the room was huge decently cleaned could have used some more tic but brand new carpeting was amazing. Breakfast was plentiful and offered variety. Thank you. Would come back as-long as the front desk greets me.

We booked this hotel off of Expedia for $74.00/night for 3 people (Deluxe 2 Queen size beds), after taxes it was around $96.00. First, it doesn't look like the beautiful hotel with colored lights and surrounded by water as they advertise. Checking in went smoothly and the employee at the front desk was pretty nice, she had her 3 yr old daughter behind the desk with her that was so adorable. I had to use the restroom after our long drive and used the one by the lobby which needed a little attention. I loved the fireplace in the front lobby and the dining area was pretty big. It was extremely quiet and made me think that we might be the only ones staying, with the few cars outside, I knew that this hotel didn't stay too busy. We got room #101, right by the front desk. Instead of being surrounded by water there was a 15th green golf course. It is close to the zoo and airport. They have an elevator, so that's convenient. Free wifi, jacuzzi tubs in some of the rooms (not ours) and a gym room. Our room was pretty basic, the was Cox cable tv, air conditioner, toiletries, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron with ironing board, desk and two chairs. The beds were okay to sleep on..I couldn't sleep at all, probably cause I'm used to having a CPAP and I didn't bring it..so was up all night. There's also a free breakfast from 6:30-10:00am...It consisted of the hot items.. make your own mini waffles, oatmeal, bagels and toast, then there's fruit, cereal, muffins, yogurt and orange juice. They were out of orange juice when my husband went out around 7am and he didn't get any butter for his toast and waffles because a lady took the whole bowl of butter to her table. I guess it's okay if you just need to stop in for some sleep. It is close to a QT gas station, McDonald's, KFC and Burger King. It also has a small parking lot in front. I'm upset because after we checked in my card was used at Ticketmaster.com for 2 tickets for $197.60/ea. I won't stay here again!

For the most part, the hoteL seemed pretty clean...the young woman at the front desk was very nice. Breakfast was ok. Coffee was very good. Easy in and out and to and from places....price was pretty good. We had to fly in for a long weekend due the tragic death of my grandson...I really had one big issue. There was limited outlets to plug things in at but most importantly was the fact that there was a small coffee pot on the counter of the kitchenette with NO outlet! I was very confused as to why would you put all new carpet, somewhat new bed, etc.....no outlet at the kitchenette. I could have taken the coffee pot to the bathroom sink but it was very small....I think I might have seen the owner a few times...I was not impressed, he didn't really smile, and did not seem happy to be there...I am sure if we ever come to KS again...and we do go to visit other friends there every few years....we will not stay there...sorry, not sorry.

We chose this hotel because it was in a convenient location, provided free hot breakfasts, and we could get a room with kitchenette for eating dinners in our room instead of at a restaurant. There were many issues:1. The room smelled of fish. When I mentioned this to the person at the desk right after we had moved our baggage into the room (about 8:00 pm) he first said he could not move us (even though the hotel was not at all full, judging by the parking lot). Then he offered to move us, the next day about noon, to a room without a kitchen. I said that (a) we needed a room with a kitchen and (b) our schedule meant we would be leaving about 9:00 am and returning after 6:00. I then asked if the housekeeper could clean out the drip pan in the AC unit, hoping that was the source of the smell.2. The next morning (Saturday) the hot breakfast, scheduled to be available 6:30 - 9:30, arrived about 8:30. 3. Sunday morning we tried to cook breakfast in our room, to discover that the stove would not work. So much for cooking dinner at the hotel. Complain made, we were told that smooth cooktops take a while to heat up. I explained that we had been using smooth cooktops for years, and this one just was not working.4. No housekeeping on Sunday, even though we had removed the Do Not Disturb sign from the door when we left that morning at 9:00.5. No hot breakfast except waffles. I asked about this and was told "hot breakfast only on weekends", even though I had been told it was daily when I booked the room.6. Room maintenance issues: The shower door was not in its track, so had to be held shut to keep from spraying water on the bathroom. The toilet paper holder was broken. The only reason we are not giving a one-star review is that the bed was good.

We had an issue with our room, we were unable to get back into our room, because the outside lock wasn't working. The staff was very nice, and did their best to resolve the issue. The Continental breakfast didn't have many options, but the room was clean, and it's in a very upscale part of town.

Hotel was great. Very hospitable owners that go out of the way to make sure you enjoy the stay. The room was spacious and clean. Beautiful common area with tons of windows looking over a golf course.
