Are you're interested in ghosts? Do you think a demon has attached itself to you and won't let go? (Hello, to my family.) Do you see things out of the corner of your eye and think, "That must have been a spirit?" Are you at all curious about the afterlife? Then you need to stay at The Historic Wolf Hotel in Ellinswood, Kansas. This hotel is haunted, according to the locals. They've seen things. Stuff happens in the rooms. I visited this hotel with a couple who had stayed here once, and they refused to stay a second time because they had experienced paranormal activity. Fair enough.I was booked for an overnight stay, and I admit, I was a little scared. My room looked like a Victorian dollhouse. There were mirrors in the room, and every time I looked in the mirrors, I expected to see a spirit. I don't believe in this kind of stuff, but I also don't not believe in it. Who am I to say these ghosts at The Historic Wolf Hotel don't exist? Maybe they do. But, it turns out, if they do exist, they didn't want to visit me.No, no ghosts visited me during my stay at the hotel. Whew. If you want a restful night's stay, I suggest packing a sleeping mask and ear plugs, because the only thing keeping you up at night will most likely be the trains that pass by every few hours that honk their horns. This hotel is located directly in front of an active train track, so you will be treated to train horns galore. The hotel, as a place to stay, is really neat. It has a common kitchen and dining room, with snacks and breakfast foods available to guests (think cereal, muffins, granola bars, etc.) You also have access to the Keurig coffee pot, which makes a nice cup of coffee. You can enjoy your little breakfast in your room, or in the shared dining room / sitting room. It's a pleasant place to relax. One thing to mention: The only way up to the rooms is via a steep series of stairs. So if you have a hard time climbing stairs or are in a wheelchair, this hotel might not be for you.The hotel also hosts lunches and dinners, and I happened to be here to sit for a dinner. We got a salad, main course and dessert, as it was lovely. I mentioned this in a different review, but across the street is the underground tunnel tour, which is definitely worth doing.

There are no words to express just how magnificent this experience was and how at home we felt the entire time we stayed here. First, I'm a dummy and booked this place with my original un-booked flight in mind so I had to contact the owner and have a day refunded. I also booked a room without a private bath but I saw that another room with one was available the next day and for the rest of our stay. Chris, the owner, was so accommodating and fixed it for us. Checking in was super easy. Chris is super communicative and pretty flexible. The building is gorgeous and decorated perfectly. We loved the shared spaces and took high advantage of that full size refrigerator and dining table. I actually accidentally left my cheese curds behind (sorry!!!) The beds are comfy and the shower water was hot with good pressure. I will say that it is an older building so the stairs and floors creak. If there are other people in the hotel, you will hear them. There was a wedding our first night and they were quite rowdy and we could hear every word and every step but the rest of our stay we were alone and it was BLISSFULLY quiet. I have to be honest, I'm one of those weirdos who thinks they can feel ghosts so I was quite excited to stay here but I didn't get the haunted feeling. We think they felt bad that the wedding was so rowdy so they left us alone when we were by ourselves. If you stay here, please check out the underground tunnels. It's a quick tour but it's so interesting and worth more than they charge. The saloon on Fridays and Saturdays is really fun with great prices for a good time. We can't wait to comeback and stay. Hey, my bf even suggested we think about this place for our wedding.

Attended a Murder Mystery dinner had a great time with people we've never met. Highly recommend to anyone finding or looking for something to do. The food was insanely delicious! The cast was great at ad libbing and kept the sprit going all evening. Our waitress was great and kept everything together.

Thank you Chris! We had a wonderful time staying at your historic hotel! The beds were comfortable, the furnishings lovely, the hospitality excellent. We plan on returning for a mystery murder party this Spring. Great place to stay for a very reasonable price. The only thing I would remind people of is the town and most surrounding towns close down early. So have something planned if you are staying for long. A good book or something to do.

The rooms are not expensive and the history of this hotel is really cool. One of the most fun things to do is to take the tunnel tours below the Wolf Hotel and the west side of the street from the Wolf.

We had an amazing weekend with Chris and crew. We took the tour at 3PM, checked into the Hotel and hung out in the Kitchen/ Parlor. We rented all five rooms so we had the whole place to ourselves. We were there for a 70th birthday party. We had 13 people from Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. The rooms were authentic and clean. There were snacks and water left for us to have as well as breakfast. We went to the speak easy and had drinks and played cards in the evening. Since we were there on the third Sunday of the month we had a chicken dinner in the Sunflower room. We had a great weekend and highly recommend the Hotel and it's amenities.

Beautiful historic hotel that has been lovingly restored. Fried chicken dinner on Sunday was incredible - crisp, flavorful and juicy - plus amazing creamed corn and macaroni and cheese. Coconut cream pie for dessert was divine. Do yourself a favor and visit The Wolf Hotel for Sunday lunch!

Absolutely amazing! We stayed here for two days when my mother passed on to a better place and Chris and his staff were simply wonderful. They went above and beyond what you could ever expect and we will be forever grateful. Beyond that the hotel was great and had all that we needed. I see a previous review said the rooms couldn't be locked while you were out but all we did was ask Chris for the key and we were good to go.

My sisters and I just spent the weekend with Chris McCord and his staff at the Historic Wolf Manor. The facility used to be the rectory of a local church and has been updated to be a hotel facility. Very quaint and comfortable. Our rooms were on the second floor, but we had access to the first floor living spaces that included an era receiving room, large dining room and kitchen. Manor was clean and we enjoyed our short visits with the other guests. Chris makes you feel comfortable and is available per text for any needs at any time. While in Ellinwood we also attended the comedy show, spent late evening with two of the comedians at our table in the bar in the tunnel, toured the remains of the underground tunnels(for the 4th time) and enjoyed the amazing chicken dinner in the old Wolf Hotel dining area on Sunday. The chicken was hand breaded, moist, crisp and tender. We topped it off with delicious piece of coconut pie. As a special treat, we found Chris at every event catering to your every need- cleaning tables, serving drinks, taking orders, and welcoming you to the facility. What customer service!! This was my 4th visit to Ellinwood and every time I find out something new and continue to be surprised with how Chris and his team have added on, improved, or taken the chance to try. Candice Q.
