The English Barn is very beautiful! That being said I was disappointed in Jane and how she handled everything. To gossip about the grooms mother is unacceptable and bad manners. I would not recommend this venue because of the owner. Tami E.

I don't know a more beautiful place to have a wedding than the English Barn. The venue is gorgeous on the inside. Warm and inviting. The grounds surrounding the venue are beautiful. So many perfect details have been considered to allow the bride and groom to experience their perfect wedding day. Jane and Paul go to great lengths to host the wedding guests, and we so appreciate all they did to make our son and daughter-in-laws wedding a perfect day.

I could not imagine a worse experience planning a wedding. My sister and her now husband had their wedding here, and the stress that they experienced as a result of this venue is beyond anything I ever would've expected. If you'd like to hear about all the lies and deceit throughout the process, please reach out, but I'll just drop the most infuriating deception here. Attached is the bar package information we were given when considering booking the venue. My sister and her husband booked the Platinum package, which already limits you to a total of 3 types of hard liquors but is the most expensive package. About 6 weeks before the wedding, they scheduled a meeting with the owner of the venue and her husband to solidify their beer and liquor choices. During this meeting, the owner tried to charge us the full alcohol price for MINORS who can't consume alcohol. Luckily, we had printed the bar package sheet, and we showed her exactly where it states that the cost is $5 for minors. After this meeting, the owner's husband, who owns the bar company, sent over a bar contract that stated "While customer is purchasing an 'Open Bar' package for their guests, the Catering Agreement and Selected 'package' is not an Unlimited or All You Can Drink offering." Imagine our shock when we discovered that we now, 6 weeks before the wedding, must worry about running out of alcohol during the wedding. The calculator that the owner's husband provided was based on average drinkers, and it's mostly intended for people stocking their own alcohol for events. We've planned and had plenty of friends plan weddings, and at absolutely none of the weddings has anyone ever had to worry about running out of any drinks. Also, they did run out of cabernet. PLUS, for the tons of money that you spend on the most expensive "open bar" option with limited alcohol choices and limited alcohol volume, the wine they serve is Barefoot wine. That's right. The same Barefoot wine that you can go buy for about $10 for a 1.5L bottle. They also state that sour is available as a mixer, but it probably shouldn't surprise anyone that they didn't have sour mix, even though it was printed on the signs they made for the bar. If you think we only had an alcohol issue during the event, you'd be mistaken. You can't bring your own alcohol onto the premise, which is true of KS venues. So after we asked ahead of time, the owner's husband agreed to provide ONE bottle of champagne for the ladies while getting ready. It was so fun for us each to have half a glass of champagne while getting ready for six hours. For the guys, the owner's husband said, "If I am available during the afternoon hours, I will serve the gentlemen beer out of the overall event allotment." So for the guys to have any drinks while getting ready, we would've had to be even more worried about running out of alcohol during the wedding. Because of this, the guys had to spend their day elsewhere, then just show up at the venue to get dressed right before photos. The lies, deceit, and headache we experienced with the bar was only one example and was emblematic of our entire experience. I wouldn't recommend this venue to my worst enemy. I will say that Jessica, who was present the day of the event, was a delight. We didn't meet her until the meeting six weeks before the wedding, but she was fantastic. I'd recommend Jessica, but I wouldn't recommend this venue ever. If you do book this venue, make sure you get absolutely every single thing that is said or promised in writing immediately, then make sure you always have that documentation on hand.
