I love the rich history here and Holly was amazing. Taking care of my family and traveling with little kids is not easy, normally bed-and-breakfast will not allow young kids but Holly really made us feel at home during the stressful military PCS and we will be back again. We love the hospitality. Thanks Holly for your dedication to your customers!

I am thrilled with the changes the new management Has made. They have returned the cottage house to her old glory.Gone are the creepy dolls, rude signs telling guests not to touch things and hideous excuse for breakfast. The rates are also fantastic. This is a wonderfully interesting and classic old Western Hotel. I highly recommend

Beautiful Bed & Breakfast, I had a wonderful time here. I only wish I had been able to stay more than just one night. The rooms are great, the breakfast was bountiful, and the people were all really friendly. If you're ever in Council Grove... you've gotta stay here.

Great little place off Main street in Council Groove, KS. Friendly staff and I stayed in the back outside of their main house. I was pleasantly surprised by all the space in my room- My room also had a nice TV, Coffee Maker microwave and a small fridge. This place reminds me of a place you would see in an old western movie- that has been updated restored with modern day technology- it is absoultely beautiful! I have seen several places try and do what these owners have done and fail miseralbly- This is a great place to stay and I hope to be back!

My wife and I stayed there after attending a wedding and we loved it. Absolutely everything about it. It is a beautiful building, the room was immaculate. The bed was especially comfortable. And the staff was friendly and professional every time we spoke with them.I will gladly stay there every time I go to Council Grove. Fantastic job, everyone!

We have stayed there many many times over the years. Sad the new owners have not provided the traditional quality and service we had come to expect over the years. Will not be returning for future stays given our last experience. Particularly disappointing to be charged way more than the price our confirmation receipt said when we made the reservation. When we inquired we were told it was their policy to charge how they wanted and if we did not like it we did not have to check in.

The Cottage House is the perfect place for a cozy, historic getaway. The rooms are not just beautiful but also comfortable and warm. Everyone on the staff is so kind and helpful. We loved our stay...it was hard to go home.

My FAV place to ever spend a night...many decades. My son, Taylor James is now 27...and were treated to an upgrade 20 years ago to the Honeymoon Suite...we watched a 5-star Kansas lighting storm from it's private 2nd floor porch...before one raindrop fell...many hours later...a grand memory...Tay* was 6 then...Come check it out, smile and sleep w wonderful dreams....Schube

Had a couple of weeks to think about it- this is the mild version....Stayed 2 nights...room was okay, champagne/fruit basket was a good touch (if you drink the stuff)...the jacuzzi was the selling point....BUT...just a couple of issues for price paid...you definitely more that the four towels given for the jacuzzi experience followed by a shower....seemed like a unneeded hassle the second day to get clean ones.... no-- we did not ask to change the sheets just clean towels and was told to look in the closet for more towels (it was locked by the way and we had no access)....did have to deal with a badly turned ankle on my bride after tripping on her dress that turned black, and needed ice to subdue the swelling. Given limited amounts by the staff(about a quart or 1/2 a typical hotel ice bucket) for a couple of times, was told that "we buy ice like everyone else" and reluctantly gave another quart of ice with 2 blue ice packs. The refrigerator freezer in the room was so frozen over that we could not have put any ice in there other than the blue ice packs. What options did we have on a Sunday in this small community? Not very special service. When approaching the front desk, the person working put us on hold while Skyping with their grandchildren. Hmmm? Service? I wonder if I was asking too much for something provided when the Cottage House is 3 times the cost of any standard hotel room. Was provided a breakfast of a variety of cold cereals, some fresh and canned fruit and an unique egg/spinach casserole. Very tasty the first day, but not so much for leftovers the second day especially when knew the casserole had sat out for a couple of hours the day before. No need to enjoy it a second day...Conclusion: Needed a place to go for the honeymoon that was off the beaten path. A bed and breakfast probably could have been a better alternate choice, but we gave the cottage house a shot. Would we return...probably not....would we recommend it? Only if the person staying there understood all the details, and of course all the disclaimers that we had to agree to...it was definitely an adventure.
