The condition of this snake is sad. They need to care for these animals
Sad
Some truly beautiful animals, so well taken care of! Helped my friend pick out this sand boa yesterday

Appreciate this store because it is the only pet store in our area, otherwise we'd have to travel to Wichita or Oklahoma. That being said, they are often out of product, stuff is very overpriced, and selection of animals is minimal. Staffing is hit or miss as some workers are very kind, others are very rude. Store is decent as far as cleanliness, but large pet snakes are kept in enclosures way too small for them, and there have been multiple instances where feeder rats are out and about wandering the store.

The condition they keep the snakes in are just sad. These snakes are suppose to live in humidity controlled environments to help them shed, and it doesn't look like this business provides that for them. We bought a snake from here and it's very fidgety probably due to to the environment it was first placed in (aka this business..).

This is a very small shop. The owner is very knowledgeable if not a little eccentric. The staff are hobbyists and very good. This place is busy for its size and it's easy to feel ignored if you're over sensitive, but I assure you it's worth the wait, be patient. It reminds me of the pet shops 60 years ago when the owners were also the hobbyists. Expect the information they give you to be from real experience, and not a high school kid who neither knows nor cares about their job.

I don't know what happened to Tails and Scales but it is NOT the same place it used to be. We opened the door and the smell of ammonia from dirty tanks and water was beyond overpowering. I cannot imagine they have pets at home and what possible conditions they're kept in if these are the conditions they're willing to show the public the store we walked into today. The water near the back of the store they tried to talk about cycling our tanks at home (which we knew) and they swished the water and HANDFULS of fish waste and rotted food flooded the already disgusting water. The teenagers stammered information they obviously knew nothing about and gave tips on fish for our tanks that would absolutely not work. The betta station I can't even talk about, beyond pathetic and heartbreaking for those fish if that's what they want to offer to people, just seeing that station alone should have been enough to know they care more about money than the actual proper care for the fish. Needs to be reported for animal abuse.

Being a pet rat owner. After seeing the pictures of the feeder rat posted by Karla k. I called Tails And Scales to ask if this is the way they treat their feeder rats. I talked to a person who I guess is the owner, to find out what those pictures where about. He explained that the picture was from a couple of years ago and that rat should have been put down. He added, the rat came from a breeder who didn't take very good care of his animals. He told me that he doesn't do business with that breeder anymore for that reason. I would hope that anyone who see's animals in less than ideal health to do the same as Karla k. did and let people know. I haven't been to the Tails And Scales pet store yet, but I believe they care for the animals they have, as any owner would. That is the rest of the story. Best of luck to Tails And Scales. Thank you Karla k.
