From a NON-Local....This is a mom and pop owned place and it's old, but It hold memories for many including mysef who used to eat here when visiting my grandparents. That can account for a star or two for me. Now the food.. it's simple, just that. However the cheese is grated fresh daily and your order is made once you place it. So yea, it's not drive thru fast, but it is quick.I'm not sure if "California style" is a thing or even it.. but it's for sure not like the others. I personally think the taco burger is the best. If you have never tired one or you do like them, get one here. Those are delish. I order mine-no lettuce (just my preference). The second item I suggest is the tostada. This place has kept it simple and basic and it's worked. Also - jukebox is free.. so pick a song you like! That clears up the music someone fussed about.

I do not get the 4 & 5 star reviews about this place. The chips are literally a personal bag of Tostitos. The salsa is Pace in either mild, hot or extra hot. The refried beans are from a can and I'm not sure about the Spanish rice-it wasn't good enough to be Rice-A-Roni. I had the super Sancho and it was fine - nothing to write home about but when I opened it out of the paper wrapper neither end of the Sancho had been tucked in so half of the ingredients fell out onto the paper wrapper. The taco was what you would make at home with generic ingredients. I don't know - I guess if you were raised on fast food and don't like fresh ingredients then this is the place for you.

One of the worst places to get food in Topeka. Service and food are very poor. You'll wait a long time for something they cooked in the microwave, only to receive something you didn't order in the first place. AVOID!!

I've been coming here since I was a child. This is my favorite place to get a bean burrito. I live out of town now and every time I make it back to Topeka, Taco Als is my first place to stop for some good food! Please open a Taco Als in Coconut Creek, Florida!

I love this little hole in the wall Topeka tradition. It's fast food, Tex-Mex. Forget about the Taco Bell's and other crap available. The prices are similar here and the food is so much better. Best of all, it's locally owned!!

Best fast food Mexican there is! Beats any Taco Bell type of place in every way. In house made sauce, beans and meat make all the difference. Tostados, combo burritos and taco burgers are my go toos. My family has loved it for generations!

Popular hole in the wall Mexican place in Topeka! I got two soft tacos and the Spanish rice! It's nothing special just your classic at home Mexican food, with fast service and GREAT prices! BONUS: the jute box music is free to change!
