We like to say its the "Flavor you can Savor" and Sweet Willy just says ... "Danged! That's Good Eatin'"
Sweet Willy the #1 Hillbilly ... could make that Sweet Carolina Sauce as skilled as any Moon Shiner making his Brew... Amen

Getting a bit of love at Sweet Willy's BBQ ... She is as sweet as Ma's Peach Cobbler right out of the Dutch Oven.

Amazing BBQ hole in the wall place! We tried the family pack with 3 meats, 3 sides, rolls and sauce. The garlic slaw isn't too sweet, the sweet potato salad is a surprisingly delicious change from traditional, and the baked beans are the perfect mix of sweet smoky and a kick. Pork, brisket, and turkey are all moist and top notch! The mild sauce is very sweet and the hot sauce has a nice vinegar flavored kick. You need to try this place out for some good Kansas BBQ.

Another year, another restaurant pops up to occupy the doomed little building near 47th and Seneca. Everything about Sweet Willy's is heavy-handed, from the menu's cartoon cowboy claiming this to be the best barbecue he's had, to the amount of hickory used in the meat that ensures you're going to smell like the woods before you make it back to the car. Going so over the top doesn't help my old barbecue standbys: the pork was on the way to becoming jerky, the brisket was dry and the fat unrendered, and even the sausage had a casing that was too thick for my liking. The ribs, on the other hand, stood up to the smoke well, producing a caramelized crust that gave way to tender meat that came off the bone cleanly. I'm not normally a ribs guy, but it was one of the saving graces of the meal. What Sweet Willy's lacks in panache it makes up for in gusto. The menu is peppered with all sorts of non-traditional applications of barbecue, from poutine to chicken lollipops to tacos, though the most surprisingly enjoyable thing may be the burnt ends, which are tossed in a honey and garlic sauce that is not only more subtle than the KC-style sauces served with everything else, but surprisingly works well with the sugars in the meat in a way that doesn't overwhelm. There's clearly a lot of effort put into Sweet Willy's, but not a lot of confidence, no matter how many "yums" are on the menu. There's some good to be found in places you wouldn't expect, but the brisket and pork are serve as the foundation upon which the rest of the menu is built, so improving them should be the first priority.

I really ordered the wrong things. I ordered the smoked burger and the fries with brown gravy. However you think that since it's on the menu that they would have perfected it. Sorry to say they have not. The burger was a dry, it was smoked, but no frills burger was lacking. I am a burger guy and this was not a good burger. The fries were underdone and the gravy cheese and onions were clumped up and not evenly distributed. I will say the people working there were very nice. I will get bbq the next time I go. If the bbq is good I will add a star to the rating! One more try to come.-Brent

'Sweet' isn't just the name. Their sauce is much sweeter than your usual BBQ place. It's good, just go in knowing the flavor isn't what most places around town have.I went in on a Saturday evening, and unfortunately had a very long wait for service. It took about 45 minutes between walking in the door and getting my order. The burnt end sandwich had a good portion of meat, & it was worth the price. My next visit, I ordered a burger. Good flavor, kind of smokey.

Went by here on 2/19/17 and the place is shutdown. BBQ pit is gone, no furniture in the restaurant and "For Rent" signs all over the property. I've alerted Yelp, hopefully they'll remove this listing soon.

Very friendly family owned business with a very inviting atmosphere. The BBQ sauce is to incredible and the meat is absolutely delicious. The potato salad is a must try. Chef Randy loves serving others and making great food. They also do catering for your home, office, and/or special events. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back.

Hungry for BBQ Sweet Willy's is for you! Very tasty and more unusual than most BBQ's in Wichita. We love their Hillybilly Tacos! Pulled pork, Garlic Slaw, smothered with his delicious sauce served on a soft shell tortilla...makes my mouth water writing this review! Try, them you won't be disappointed! Another favorite is his Hillbilly Gumbo!

Im glad i found this place i was in town for a few days. I wasn't sure what i wanted to order so i ordered the sampler. The ribs fall right off the bone and has an amazing taste to it, the brisket, pull pork were also great. I wasn't a big fan of sausage but after trying theirs i like it. Its a shame that i wont be back here for a while or i would become a regular.

Ordered the brisket and chicken which was lacking flavor/seasoning without bbq sauce. The garlic slaw I got was pretty good but was lacking a garlicky flavor. The beans had brisket mixed in them but I felt there still was an ingredient missing to bring out a more robust flavor. I did enjoy both the hot and mild bbq sauce as both had a nice sweet kick to them. Overall a decent hole in the wall with ok bbq and reasonable prices.

Food is great! Need to improve the ordering process. Fella up front is a little hard of hearing and you have to repeat yourself 2-3 times. And a few times he still got it wrong. But again, can't go wrong with the food - it is very good.
