I called during a snowstorm to get a taxi home, to which the dispatcher said "I'll have a cab right over to you." After waiting on a street corner during one of the worst snowstorms this city's ever seen, and watching as three EMPTY Sunflower taxis (Or maybe the same one, empty each time.) drove by the corner I was waiting at I called the dispatcher to inform him that since I could have walked to where I was going and back in the time it took them to not pick me up (It was over an hour!), and since several empty cabs drove right on by me, that I'd do just that and walk home. The dispatcher got an attitude with me about it and at first acted like he didn't even remember taking my call. I've used this cab service so much that I've become somewhat of a regular and am on a familiar basis with some of the late night drivers. Not any more. Not after being told a cab would be sent "right over" to me and then left stranded for 45 minutes in bad weather. Any other time if the wait is going to be 15 minutes or more they tell you when you call that there's a wait and approximately how long of a wait it will be. But if you call during a snowstorm they say they'll be "right over" and leave you there, repeatedly driving by without stopping... Knowing some of these drivers like I do, I can only assume it's because they think it's funny. So unless you feel like being stranded and made fun of to other fares by someone who, with better hygiene and a few more IQ points and teeth, could have been the inspiration for the film Sling Blade, don't go with the top Google result for Taxi Service Salina KS and try one of the others instead.
