Horrible, horrible, say it with me now, HORRIBLE, company. Treats there therapists terribly (look at their turn over rate). With such awful morals, it really makes you question how they could possibly be in this field that is supposed to be focused on wellness. Wild that they would take advantage of young professionals who have decided to dedicate their life to serving those with mental health needs. It's an embarrassment and a shame to the entire profession.

Two years ago, I had an appointment here. I quietly left a one star google review at the time, but now I'm ready to talk about my experience. After all this time, I'm still upset about the way I was treated at Soma.LaVeta Jarrett is a bully and shouldn't be seeing patients.I was trying to get a prescription for anti-depressants, which I'd been on before. I was working more than full time and still very broke. When my appointment with LaVeta was made by phone, I specifically requested a doctor that would treat me without requiring that I also see a therapist, because I couldn't afford it.When this came up during the appointment, LaVeta suggested I go to a church for counseling. I told her I'm not religious and she became aggressive. I told her that when I made the appointment I specifically requested a doctor that wouldn't have these requirements, she got up and opened her door. This woman talked down to me in such a way that I had a horrible panic attack in the parking lot of Soma Therapy. She laughed at me and offered zero help when I explained what I was going through. She took the $150 out of pocket that I had to borrow for the appointment, when all she'd achieved was bringing a depressed, traumatized young person to tears.I was able to get help at the office of doctor Ralph Bharati. Despite LaVeta telling me that NO ONE in this city would give me a prescription without additional therapy.

Half of these positive review are so fake and obviously constructed by the employees of Soma, an ad disguised as a personal expiernce in the form of a review rating comment. This place is a joke. The first thing negative that happened was the scheduler/secretary got angry at me when I got their and told me I was on the wrong day/time, therefore, I was already considered a delinquent inconsiderate patient. He was wrong, read his own notes wrong, and then told me I was actually showing up at the right time. Simple mistake, whatever. But to be mortified and told off the very first day, I let it slide. As i filled out the patient paperwork, it was completely written in a way that makes your answers make you look insanely depressed and in desperate need of as much therapy as possible. Then, the student doctor saw me. Made me purchase a DNA test, that will supposedly show what medications work for me. I informed him about my past issues with cancer, thyroid/hormone problems, and about a brain tumor on my pituitary gland that I've had 2ce, and just recovered from it and chemo just 6 months ago. Then due to my answers on the intake paperwork told me I had severe deression showing itself as ADHD. I have ADHD, PTSD, Aspergers and severe anxiety disorder. Due to this, combined with the dangers of the fact that over half of psychotropics increase prolactin, and I absolutely cannot take a medication that does so. Finally the med provider walks in, has not one clue of what we have talked about, told me right away I had severe dibilitating depression, and I needed weekly therapy, she obviously hustles this therapy, regardless of what your problems are. The next time I went, the DNA results listed at least 7 medications that I'd have no reaction with, supposedly. Those same meds made me suicidal/homicidal in the past. Then, he said they deny my ADHD, its severe depression, and wanted me to take abilfi, which raises prolactin levels, completely ignoring me when I remind him of my potential of my tumor growing back, thats why my tumor grew back the 2nd time, meds prescribed that directly increase prolactin. Again , in comes the med provider, and beefore the door is even open all the way, she said she could read her collegues notes from 10 feet away, and that why she agrees I need abilify and weekly thepapy. She already decided my treatment before even discussing it with me. I satrted crying, and she bullied me, ignored the facts of my past brain tumors, and told me I should leave immediately. I convinced her to talkj to me after I stopped crying. 18 MINUTES LATER, SHE BROUGHT IN THE DIRECTOR, AND LIED, TOLD ME HE WAS A THERAPIST, bullied me til I cried again. I got my meds refilled for about 14 days, and fired me from her office in a letter and a text message. I just begged for another refill, til my new doctor could see me ,and the refused, I asked what should I do," go to the emergency room." what? resulting being locked up in the hospital. What? She then suggested I see the med providers college at a different facily. Im now weaning of all psych med, so I can start over, With a healthy brain, without a tumor. In the end, I got a damn bill for the DNA test, probably because I made obvious shes not a docor or nurse, but a hustler. My insurance originally covered it, but since i WAS FIRED, i GOT A BILL. pLEASE, DON'T WASTE UR TIME, THESES PEOPLE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND THEN MAKE YOU FEEL DELUSIONAL ABOUT YOUR PSYCHOLOGISTS DIAGNOISIS, AND THEN TRY TO POISON YOU.

This review concerns 'management' at SOMA, not my Absolutely Fantastic Therapist-Psychologist. I found him, as a PTSD Specialist, through his Psychology Today listing. Yet, when he decided to move to another practice situation, Soma management reared their ugly heads by way of enforcing a non-competition clause in their contract, prohibiting him from treating any of his current patients for ONE YEAR! Or face a huge monetary penalty for each occurrence. WTH? It is excruciatingly obvious to me, as a Healthcare professional myself, that SOMA management does not gaf about the Real People, the Actual Human Persons, the Wounded Healers, the PTSD-afflicted seekers of the very specific expertise of this Psychologist. I had been seeking a new therapist after the sudden death of an amazing therapist that I worked with for 2 years. Took me months to connect with the very specific, focused, mindful, DBT-based expertise of this provider. I am HIS client, NOT the property of SOMA. Struggling to find a Bright Spot in all this, to keep my head above the flood of emotions this has magnified. Dr L has been a True Gift in my healing journey. This b. s. has tainted my view of the core profit-motivated managers of SOMA. BEWARE OF THIS GROUP!

If you are medication compliant and like to avoid going to the psych ward I highly suggest finding another medication provider. If you don't care about getting your meds, love feeling like an ATM and being intentionally overcharged, and feeling like you're not being listened to this is the place for you!!! Don't be fooled by the "pleasant" office staff who are quick to harass you if you "owe" them $1. I am slowly being refunded over $300 from my insurance because they were unwilling to listen to me as a certified professional coder about why they were messing up my billing. They didn't even bother getting medical records to ensure my prescriptions met medical necessity before submitting for prior auth. This is a RUDIMENTARY billing skill any provider/biller/coder should know how to do. I have been offered zero apology or explanation and they see no issue with my completely unnecessary psych ward stay. **If you have had a similar experience I urge you to review them on your insurance companies site and to see if your issue is eligible for a complaint with the OIG ( fraud, malpractice, and poor quality of care are all acceptable reasons). After enough complaints they will receive a full audit and potentially lose insurance contracts. **P.S. I will be plastering this review everywhere imaginable and I'm sure I'll be asked to take it down. I won't. The time for being reasonable was two months ago when I called and explained how to bill properly. Your management staff should be thoroughly embarrassed this is how you are running a facility intended to help people.

Terrible experience with LaVeta Jarrett. She interrupted me when I tried to answer her questions, she told me she didn't want to know what my previous provider had to say about my care, she made her own decisions. Just awful and then I got a message later in the day saying she wouldn't treat me. She is a bully and shouldn't be allowed to practice any kind of medical treatment.

Some great therapists here but SOMA as an organization is strictly business, not a place trying to help make your life better. Physically and mentally disabled here and was charged $75 for missing an appointment after informing my therapist that I was too unwell to go. If you have no life and no illness, then this might be the perfect place for you

Less then helpful, very "pushy" and structured on quantity versus quality. The appointments are set back to back with no wiggle time after which turns the session into a rush. That leads to them being pushy in the session and trying to rush thing along quick. The upper level staff, short boy cut hair/glasses/heavier set lady, tried arguing with me when I cancelled a different appointment. Saying, "I'll make sure to charge you because your cancelling late, you really shouldn't do 'xyz'," and carried on as if this was her practice. That was unprofessional, uncalled for and not appreciated. The appointments are super far out and this place is expensive for us working folks just to show up to a Circus. Do better.
