A group of us went to Bookhouse to celebrate our friend's birthday! Out of all the places I've been to in Joplin, this restaurant will definitely be one of my favorites. Not only was the food great but I just love the setting of this place. There is a small film area, lots of board games to have a cute board game night and even a backyard with live music!! As for food, I got the truffled grapes and a bahn mi with a side salad. All items were tasty and I felt very healthy after that meal!! The sauces/dressings they use are so tasty and really elevate the sandwich/salad. I wish they added a little more honestly! My only issues with this restaurant are they run out of some sides very quickly. My friends and I went at peak dinner time (5/6pm) and they didn't have a lot of sides left! I was really looking forward to trying the fries but I guess that means I just have to go back again! My other comment is the price. I spent roughly $12 for the sandwich and $6 for the grapes. As good as they were, the portion size for the price was a little bit unequal. I was still hungry after :( However, I do still highly recommend this place and would definitely want to go back (especially when they got a movie play!)

This is my favorite restaurant in Joplin. They have so many delicious vegan options (my favorite is the tofu banh mi). Everyone is so friendly, kind and helpful, and I just love being there. My family and I love playing games while we wait for our food. I've seen a few movies there and it's very comfortable and just a great place to be. My husband and son both really love the chopped cheese. The best place in Joplin!

My boyfriend and I stopped here for breakfast on our road trip and the atmosphere was so amazing. The staff was so kind and attentive and made sure to explain everything clearly. The restaurant had lots of comfortable seating and adorable pillows. The vegan options are amazing and delicious. The tequila sunrise was so delicious I could have had 10 of them. Super affordable meals and even more affordable drinks. You won't regret stopping here!

This place is super fun! Good vibe, cool atmosphere. Hubby and I did both dinner and a movie, which I highly recommend. We got to dinner about 45 minutes before the movie started, and that was plenty of time.Food was good. We had the cheese plate, which did not include meat or sauces like a charcuterie (just FYI), but it was a great starter. Hubby got the PBLT (pork belly) and he really enjoyed it, although the homemade chips were truly the star. They were DELICIOUS! I had the meatloaf sandwich special, which was great as well. The menu looked awesome, and I want to go back and eat more of it - with or without the movie! The theatre seats 45 people. It's small and close, but seats are comfy. You can even pay for your tickets and reserve your seat while you go into the pub and have dinner. I think that's awesome! You are allowed to bring food into the theatre, but honestly, there isn't a table to put anything on. You eat on your lap. And of course, the entire theatre can smell your food. That's not my favorite part, but it's part of the charm I guess.Overall all, excellent date night find! We will definitely do this again.

Good sliders and very good Italian soda! Pasta salad slide was fine, nothing special. Staff was very nice. I just ate, did not watch anything. They had a game shelf and we played cards. Good time.

We were on a stopover in Joplin on a long road trip from Chicago to parts unknown. My gf found this really cool little art house cinema with a bar and food, so we went to see The Green Knight. Well, what a find! This place is amazing, with a terrific staff - so friendly and helpful - as well as excellent food. I had the pulled pork tacos, and she had the Bahn Mi sandwich. Both were excellent. I also got an excellent draft beer to take into the theater. The theater itself is on the small side, so screenings feel intimate. The sound system is amazing and our seats were shaking in some of the loud rumbling bass parts. Afterward we chatted with the manager who was really nice. They also have lots of art up around the lobby/dining area, thought provoking work supporting some great issues. Joplin, this place is a gift to you! Give them your patronage and keep it going!

This place is seriously *such* a dream come true for me as a lover of indie movies. I only regret that I waited a couple of months to come and check it out! Affordably priced tickets and a very charming & clean theater await you here. I used to come to this space when it was a secondhand shop and I was very impressed with the transformation as it rivals indie theaters in much larger cities. They are currently open Wednesday through Sunday. There is a single viewing room and it seats about 50 moviegoers from my rudimentary count as the lights went down.On my first visit, I saw the 2018 documentary "Three Identical Strangers" with several friends and we all enjoyed it immensely and found the two previewed films intriguing as well.Full disclosure, hearing about all of the (delicious sounding) food they offer was the main reason I didn't come in sooner...I expected something more like Alamo Drafthouse as far as servers in and out of the theater mid-movie and feeling obligated to order a full meal and beverages to consume while watching the film. That's just not my preference. At Bookhouse Cinema, it's not like that at all. The restaurant & concessions are completely separate and while you're welcome to bring food & drink into the theater, there is no atmosphere of back and forth traffic during the film. Perfect! I met up with friends after their meal here in the adjacent dining area and they said it was excellent, so I'll definitely try the food sometime in the future (with or without a movie).I deeply hope Bookhouse Cinema will thrive in Joplin's East Town area for many years to come. It's one of the best things I've "discovered" this year!
