Rock Island Live

do not recommend this place. bouncers push the women around. aggressive and rude. you'd think they'd be nicer to the people that actually come here. waste of time. go elsewhere.

Pretty cool place for live music and hip hop/rock in Old Town. It has a patio in the back which is as big as the indoor space, and that makes it a great alternative to Mort's if you want to havg out outside on a warm summer night to enjoy music and a smoke (if that's your thang). I had to teach the bartender how to make a vodka martini (?) but otherwise the staff is nice and the music good.

I called this place to try to find the card I left there last night, and the young girl that answered was so rude. She said I'd have to pay a cover charge just to find my debit card. When I asked if I could speak to the manager, she told me that the manager was the one who made that rule. She also said that she's new and doesn't have time to run around and look for a card. My overall opinion of this place is that it's very unprofessional. It is a bar, so that's expected, but hold on tight to your wallet, because the staff here will run you for your money.

I love Rock Island Live for its amazing live music scene and its outdoor seating area, which is a great place to listen to a new band or an old favorite under a warm and comfortable Wichita night sky. The patio is just the right size to feel intimate and yet large enough to accommodate a good -sized crowd. I also appreciated the "dance floor" area in front of the stage. The sound system is good and patrons could hear and see the band really well (important if you're hosting live music regularly). I can't comment much about prices or specials because all I had was water to drink, but I did enjoy the band, and the inviting feel of the place. The tables are close enough together to ensure a good sense of community without being so close that people can't get around. I also can't comment much on the inside of the place, as I only spent time outside, but as I was passing through, I did get that pubbish feel that make establishments like this that much more fun. Well I mean it's another typical dive with outdoor seating. Great for groups and live music. The drinks are all the same as well as the deals. The wells were cheap as always. Nothing much to say here. Just a cool hangout spot for groups and cheap drinks.

If you love live music (usually rock or hip hop) with an outside patio, be sure to stop by Rock Island. I personally love this spot because many local artists hang and network here. The bar staff is always friendly and they usually have great drink specials. There is always something going on, from Rock island Wednesdays (no cover charge at the door, live music and half priced drinks) to some very known music acts that swing thru to perform once in awhile. I believe Fridays is half priced drinks as well. Food is served, but I honestly haven't tried the food yet. Whether you want to dance or just sit back on the patio and have a drink, Rock Island is definitely a favorite of mine.

While I understand every bouncer and employee has a job to do, there's no excuse for how I was treated tonight. Chaz working the door was more than unprofessional. I had a very valid paper drivers license and hard copy identification card to match it. I am in this wonderful bar at least 5 times a week and have never had any issues until tonight. I don't know what he was going through in his personal life but that gave him no right to be a (for lack of better words) absolute dick to paying customers. Honestly, I would've completely understood if he said "I'm so sorry miss but by law I cannot accept a paper and cut up ID combo." I would've completely understood. But for him to not even look at me and proceed to be rude and say "you can leave now" was not okay in the least. I don't know what he was personally going though but that gave him no right to be rude at the door. He clearly was not in the right state of mind to have been and work and it NEEDS to be addressed as I learned I was not the only one disrespected for no good reason. I am a very good customer to this local bar and he if continues to be rude and disrespectful I guarantee NO ONE in Wichita will appreciate it nor continue to come back. I'm not saying don't do your job, but I did not fight nor cause issue to your reason for not letting me in, do NOT treat us like we're nothing and are a "burden" to this fine establishment. I guarantee you the next time you "shush" me out and say "you can leave now" I WILL cause problems. Chaz, YOU cause these problems for being such a dick. I suggest you learn how to separate your personal and professional life.

I Actually liked this place and the food until I had a situation one night at the night club. The bouncers are very rude, racist, and sexist. They have had several situations where they are fighting with women of color. Using unnecessary force on women that were just trying to use the bathroom. I am now facing charges for what they did to me. they pushed me out the club when I was just trying to pick up something I dropped. Then when I tried to go back to reach for it. I was arrested and taken to jail. The bouncer lied and said I hit him and I know I didn't him. They will never ever get my business again and I will tell my story over and over again until they make it right.

The place is supposed to close at 2 and they try to kick you out at 1:30. They scream over and over. You plan your night out based on when these bars close and they throw you out 30 minutes early? Why? So the workers can go home a bit early? They're getting less money, the business is gonna get less money. It's really not a good idea and is an awful ending to your night.

I enjoy the drinks and live music here. However, I got roofied here so that's made me feel less safe here ever since. Their security could use some improvement.
